Standing on the shoulders of giants... Putting the lessons to work and getting results thanks to the hard work of our head coach Paulo Sorriso. The years of tutoring with Professor Rafael Turnbull, who has helped me immeasurably take in the lessons, and his other loyal black belts has created a wealth of knowledge in our family that money can’t buy. Deeply grateful to have you in my corner on and off the mats Paulo! @sorrisobjjclub @rafa_turnbull_nz

CRUCIFIX WEEK! PART 2 - DOUBLE ATTACK: ONE-ARM RNC AND CRUCIFIX ARMBAR
Now that you can get into the crucifix, it's time to learn how to submit from there! My favorite way to finish is to present my opponent with a pick-your-poison dilemma between a one-arm rear naked choke and an armbar. If the opponent tries to tuck his chin or arch backwards, he inherently surrenders his arm for the crucifix armbar, and if he focuses too much on the arm, he will inadvertently give up the neck. Learn both submissions and use them in sequence, not in tandem, to catch your opponent when they focus too much on defending one attack, and switch between the attacks freely to expose vulnerabilities. For the choke - make sure to insert your arm deep and grab the opponent's scapula to really sink in the choke. For the armbar - learn to feel the position and direction of your opponent's elbow relative to your hips. Make sure to use your 2-on-1 or seatbelt grip to keep your chest tight against your opponent's upper torso.
