Ever wondered what to do with your left over threads.... this pile next to the real nest pictured here is going into my garden and will be spread amongst the plants and bushes. The birds come along and collect it up taking them back to line their nests... it's coming into spring here so it's the right time of year.
The nest shown here fell from the yard tree in a storm long after the chicks had left home and I loved finding my threads amongst the dried grasses and mud that the nest was made from ... I knew they had been my threads... they were pink .... lol ..... recycle right !!!🦅🐦🌲
So it’s a nest a day found here in the garden. What is interesting about this nest is the inclusion of some of my sewing thread and yarn worked in to it! Shows just how messy I am 😆👌😋. #birdnest#birdsnests#foundinthegarden
Four birds nests going into the shop! One had abandoned eggs in it. Hand collected around my own house, they've had several seasons of use, but the mamas were making a mess on my porches......so when they all flew the nest, the nests had to go. I know, seems heartless.
Got a nest of chicks in our hop plant.
I hope I didn't frighten them taking a pic but they seemed to be asleep.
Their cheeps have grown in strength so much in just 3 days.
I love my garden. Not perfectly manicured and slightly wild but still pretty.
Best of all, we have Blackbirds in our Ivy who are on their 3rd clutch already and now these guys in the hop.
I love nature. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what type of bird this is?
P.S anyone who is worried that parents won't feed them if they smell humans nearby, Mum has since been in and fed them. She is very brave and or trusting, will feed the chicks even when we are seated right next to the nest.
P.P.S. The Blackbird with the nest in the Ivy is even bolder. He will watch me water the garden and as I move round will start digging up worms where I have just watered. Like 2mtrs away from me. He even comes into the kitchen after the kids have had breakfast to collect breadcrumbs!
It's like I'm living in a Disney movie!
My kids love, love, love it.
Not one but two gorgeous nests. I had to strip back some of the ivy where I park my car as the fence is falling down. And while I was cutting it, I came across these nests , in different parts but still intact one with broken eggs in and the other one with full eggs in but on touching it , it fell apart . So both nests had been abandoned 😳and now I’m left wondering why ? But on a bright note ,I now have two gorgeous nests to add to my table 😀 I love them ,and the labour they have shown me #birdsnests#eggs#cottagegardens#englishgardens#wildlife#gardenerslife
