👉 I faced a problem to translate a line from a versе about Russian birch tree, which the author tries to hug as if it were his bride. In Russia a birch is a simbol of the country as well as a woman.... This double meaning in the sentence and the poets attitude to the country.... How to explain all the love that we have for the Russian landscape, that I would rather prefer to enjoy Levitan paintings instead of highly popular contemporary ones....
From this Spring- this was my first hike alone! Being a woman, it's extremely intimidating to venture out alone. I've been cat-called on a trail & been made uncomfortable - these experiences make it even harder but once you go out it's addicting & empowering. #womenrule#birch#treebathing#alaska#hiking#lichen#mayinAK
Haven't posted in a while but I've been busy with work and many other projects, including this custom designed and built kitchen island. It's a 3ft wide by 5ft long island made of birch. It's almost done and I will post the completed project pics after stacked stone is installed on the front face where there will be island bar seating.

The Leaf Spoon 🌿 Carving this spoon is when I really began to think about how I want to approach wood carving. What are my values? Our family has been seeking a minimalistic lifestyle for the past three years and increasingly, many others are too. There is a newly found appreciation for quality over quantity, uniqueness over mass production, and connection over anonymity. Green woodwork allows me to be true to my values. It begins at the source, and that is with the tree or salvaged pieces from tree-lopping businesses that would otherwise be consigned to the woodchipper. Each piece of wood is different, and beauty can be found in the imperfections.
