I’ve been saying this for years. People keep asking me what’s a good exercise for making your lats big and wide and I tell them NOT wide grip pull down! Maybe this will explain why better! 
My fav lats focussed exercises are reverse grip pull down, reverse grip rows, standing cable pullovers and lat specific single arm bent rows.

Learning the appropriate amount of scapular movement is important for getting the most from this exercise. It is about control and creating tension to stabilize as the humerus moves, NOT fully retracting or depressing at the beginning. .
Think about it, you’re not trying to move the load with scapular movement, the scapula is suppose to move in order to optimize the ability to move the humerus.

Leptin ⬅️ Remember this word. It's known as "the satiety hormone" and it's made primarily by adipose cells (fat cells specialized in storing energy as fat). This hormone helps regulate energy balance by inhibiting hunger.

Ghrelin⬅️Remember this word also. It's known as "the hunger hormone". This hormone is produced in the gastrointestinal tract. Ghrelin not only regulates appetite but it also plays a role in regulating the distribution and rate of use of energy.

Both of these hormones are peripheral signals with central effects. This means that although they are secreted in various parts of the body(peripheral), they effect our Brain("central" nervous system)

So lets sum this up a bit before I continue. Real simply, Leptin is an appetite suppressor and Ghrelin is an appetite increaser and they both play roles in our bodies energy balance.

Hold on though❗️Of the two hormones it seems that studies have shown that the appetite suppressor hormone Leptin plays a much more significant role in balancing and distributing our bodies energy.

I know what most of you are thinking already. "How the hell do i know if I need Leptin and if so how do i get more of it ?!" ___
According to Dr.Jack Kruse, the easiest way do find out if your Leptin Resistant(LR) is to simply look in the mirror. If you're overweight, you are definitely LR ( although underweight people and healthy looking/fit individuals can be LR as well ) Do you have a large appetite and crave carbohydrates, especially at night? These are also important signs that you are likely LR.

🔖The spine is composed of 7 💜 cervical vertebrae, 12 💙 thoracic vertebrae, 5 💚 lumbar vertebrae and 5 🧡 fused vertebrae that forms the sacrum. It’s in charge of protecting the spinal cord and it’s nerves so the body can works optimally without resting. The spinal cord with it’s nerves is responsible for so many functions such as sensation, moving, maintain the homeostasis of the body, etc. When there is a misalignment of some vertebrae, this cause an impingement of a nerve, thus bringing a “negative” effect to the part of your body that this nerve inervates such as: lack of sensation, pain, loss of range of motion, etc. For this and MORE is that you must have your vertebrae in place. Have you ever heard of a spinal transplant?

The temporal-mandibular-joint, aka TMJ can have adverse effects not only locally, but systemically as well.  Problems in the TMJ can cause back pain, headaches/migraines, digestive issues, can lead to posture issues, and even emotional difficulties can be associated with this joint (if out of alignment). LATERAL FLEXION 
Few training clips from today. Working on some lateral flexion. Last week I put a post with some exercises relating to hyperextension, and here, we are working off the same principles. - In order to control our movement we need groups of muscles connected by fascia to lengthen and shorten in tandem with each other. Think about agonist and antagonist muscles like your biceps and triceps but on a much more global scale! ☝️ - These fascial lines can generate force and people are starting to realize how important they are when it comes to moving like a boss. The intention here is to lengthen one lateral line (fascial line running up the whole side of our body) as the other shortens, and then reverse the sequence. ✌️ - In this way we’re loading these groups of muscles like springs, allowing for more force production when the springs are released. This is a small piece of the puzzle and with multiple lines of fascia involved in every movement, sequencing them is difficult! We’ll keep working on it 👊

It’s common sense that you walk straight without even thinking about using some muscles to stabilize. But when you go into more detail you see every limb is creating a rotational force while you walk. The cool thing about the human body is that for every force in one direction there is a counter-force in the opposite direction.

Thinking about your right leg swinging forward while walking, what does your right arm do? Exactly swinging back so you don’t trip like walking on ice... .

If you feel your triceps fatiguing in your presses, or have a hard time feeling your chest contract in the lengthened position, try adjusting by stacking your wrist directly above or slightly (very slightly) outside of your elbows.

My first birthday present to myself was to spend a full weekend learning from this guy ☝🏻 it was definitely the most awesome weekend of the year.

Learned so much but most of all, learned things I can apply to my own advantage and the advantage of those I train. Individualization goes beyond exercise selection but to know what would go best to your muscle anatomy and mechanics. •

(This type of tapping helps for shin splint recovery) Always finish your workout routines with some stretching and recovery session to keep the optimization of your body.
