Christmas time can also be emotionally charged & lonely for many people.
Self preservation, self love and care are crucial at this time.
Here are my top five tips to keep you from losing your Christmas crackers! 🎄1. It's ok to say No!
Yes that's right you don't need to attend every event, pick the most important and politely decline the ones that are going to tip you over the edge. 🎄2. Sleep- get at least 7-9 hours per night, go to bed early on the nights you can to allow the body restoration time. Sleep is crucial element of health, don't take it for granted. 🎄3. Maintain your exercise but instead of rigorous HIIT classes perhaps try to implement some gentler types like yoga, Pilates, swimming & gentle walks. 🎄4. Don't use Christmas as an excuse to over indulge the whole holidays. It's only one day, although I'm not about restriction at all, be mindful of what you are putting on your plate and the amount of alcohol you are consuming. Don't let one day undo your hard work and make you feel down right crappy for it. 🎄5. Hydrate...... water is essential for almost every single bodily function! Here is the southern hemisphere we a also have the heat and humidity to deal with. So fill up 2-3 large water bottles and take them everywhere. Swap soft drinks and tea and coffee for water and if your drinking alcohol ensure you are having water between each drink. 🎄 Wishing everyone a happy healthy & safe festive season!
Take care of your mind! While I was obsessed with my body, I neglected my state of mind and I’ve been dealing with its consequences for the past year or so. I always told myself that I can just laugh my way through and eventually it will go away by itself. Well it doesn’t. Slowly trying to find my will to get back to the gym. Some weeks are harder than others, but I try to push myself through while being mindful of how I am feeling. Even though I met incredible people this year, i am eager for this year to end and start 2019 on the right foot and the right state of mind.
