Day 165 - The second leg of the journey 🚴🏻♀️
It was an early start today to get the boat from Malta to Sicily. My plan is to cycle up and over to Brindisi, Italy and continue east going through Albania, Greece and Turkey.
So after a 2 week break of absolutely zero pedalling in Malta I’m starting the second leg of my cycling adventure. I was feeling pretty nervous last night about heading off again. I think this time is different as there’s more unknowns and I don’t really have a destination.
For now we’ll say Malta to Asia, I’ll have to start thinking of visas!!
The photo is of Bilbo Bikeins looking very festive in fairy lights! Thanks Mumster for the early Christmas prezzy, great idea ❤️

I was luckily found by David and Miriam as I was pushing the head-wind-desert-sandstorm. They picked me up in their AWESOME truck!
Not far away we settled down for the night in an oasis surrounded by mountains.
It’s amazing to meet other travellers, when you meet the right ones. BFF’s for one night often means BFF’s forever even if you never meet again!
At this moment Miriam was pregnant, and in May I got the happy news that their son Janosch came to this world ☺️🙌🏽
Big views in the #baviaanskloof ! But the star of the show yesterday was the giant #roosterkoek (grid cake) fresh from the fire, dripping with butter and honey and a pot of #moerkoffie#coffee to wash it all down. Eaten in the shade of a giant old wild fig tree...Perhaps the best lunch of 2018 yet!
HOME! We’ll never forget the day of our arrival, it was so special to finally fall into the arms of all the loved ones. We still can’t comprehend our journey: We really cycled from Switzerland to Australia. Incredible.
Thank you all so much for all the messages, we’ll try to get through them and answer soon:)
I met Brett along the beach as I was cycling 🚴♂️ around the island looking for Sea Urchins... he pointed out a location where I could find them... but they were too deep for me to grab without a snorkel. I managed to get one and Brett wanted to taste it... so I cracked open the Sea Urchin and we ate it raw. He was really impressed by it's salty, creamy, sweet flavor. 👍🏽 So we got to chatting about food when he tells me that his partner owns Ciao Pizza... a wood fired pizzeria on the island. 🍕🔥😋 While I was searching for Sea Urchins... I came across my favorite food... OYSTERS! 😲 So I asked Brett if he wanted to go Oyster hunting with me and have one of my famous Oyster beach feasts... he jumped at the opportunity. ✊🏽 So we went out today and picked 42 oysters from the rocks in just about twenty minutes and then I showed Brett how to open them and shared my favorite toppings. He was so impressed by the amazing flavor of the oysters that he promised to name a pizza after me... so next time you come to Bocas Del Toro go look for Javi's Pizza - made with Oysters & Prosciutto... available Saturdays & Sunday at Ciao Pizza. 👌🏽 #touringlife#touring#bikelifestyle#adventurecycling#bikepacking#cycletouring#biketouring#bicyclelifestyle#bicycletouring#nomadadventures#nomadiclife#cicloviajeros#cicloturismo#comida#foodtour#foodporn#food#oysters#bocasdeltoro#panama#oysterfeast#pizza#oysterpizza#woodfiredpizza
Photo location : Pantai Liang Dewa, Labangka, Sumbawa Island, Ntb

It was an intense but beautiful day of cycling. We crossed the top of the pass for the Middle Atlas mountains in Morocco today at 2230 meters. Now we are going to rest a bit after pushing our bikes up and over in the snow. We want to cycle the high Atlas mountains but we will have to look at road conditions and see if there is snow there since they are even higher in elevation. We may be heading towards the true desert a little early!
