If I was going to use one word to describe this book, it would be intriguing. I finished it not really knowing how I felt. Short chapters and first person perspectives made this dark and disturbing tale a book you just cannot put down. 
It's a crazy ride filled with jealousy, lies, violence, greed and suspense that shows you that what you see on the outside isn't always the truth.

Golden Latte Recipe 🌻
> Small nub of turmeric
> Small nub of ginger
> 1 Tbsp Coconut Butter
> Cinnamon
> Sprinkle of black pepper (activates the turmeric)
> Local honey (nature’s cough medicine ☺️)
> Hot water
Add all to a blender for 1 minute and enjoy!

Weil Marmorkuchen auch gesund sein kann, gibt es den jetzt in der Bananenvariante 😍

Zutaten:
➡120g Haferflocken
➡3 sehr reife Bananen
➡2 EL Kokosöl (oder anderes)
➡1 Messerspitze Backpulver
➡ca 50-100 ml Drink/ Milch
➡ganz viel Zimt
➡2 Eier [oder 2 EL Chia-/ oder Leinsamen gequellt mit 6 EL Wasser]
➡3 EL Kakaopulver
➡optional: gehackte Nüsse, Sirup, Schokolade,...

1) Die Haferflocken in einem Mixer zu Mehl mahlen.
2) Dazu gibt man dann die restlichen Zutaten (alle bis auf das Kakaopulver) und püriert alles.
3) Den Teig in 2 gleichgroße Anteile auf 2 Schüsseln aufteilen 😊
4) In die eine Hälfte des Teiges gibt man das Kakaopulver.
5) Nun gibt man etwas hellen Teig in die Kuchenform, dann den dunklen und obendrauf wieder den hellen.
6) Mit einer Gabel vermischt man vorsichtig in Wirbeln stellenweise die beiden Teige miteinander.
7) Bei 180°C ca. 35min backen.
8) Am besten noch warm genießen! 😊 #foodblogia

I am LOVING my rotation in the neuro ICU and I gush about it every day (just ask the other interns I eat lunch with 😂). The brain has always fascinated me (neuro and cardiac are my two favourite areas), but what’s been even more amazing is witnessing the brains ability to heal. It’s so humbling. I’m ready for a weekend to recharge, but I’m also counting down the hours until Monday 🤓

It totally needs to be on your thanksgiving menu next week 😘 It’s a vegan-friendly and paleo-friendly recipe 👌 I couldn’t find @simplemills crunchy cookies when I went to the store so these are regular gingersnaps, but cookie crust is easily adaptable! And the filling is really simple too - the hardest part is waiting for it to cool!

Cheers to the weekend! I've been making an effort to plan LESS and it's actually been kind of amazing. Alex and I have had so much more time to relax, decompress, chill, and get things done around the house. (We finally removed 3 radiators from upstairs & repaired the walls!)

I constantly struggle with the feeling that I need to be DOING something. I feed off of productivity and I can have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with needing to accomplish things. Over the past 6 months I've tried to carve out time for doing nothing. It's actually a little harder than I thought it would be but I'm learning!

Oh hey! To celebrate Friday (my favorite day!) I thought it would be a great time to do FRIDAY INTRODUCTIONS! Because it’s been a hot minute! 
I’m sharing 5 things I LOVE about my body today. A little challenge I gave my online clients this week!

I’m Jen - personal trainer, nutrition coach, mom to Titan and Oscar (my fur kids), fan of blanket scarves and hater of cold weather. 🦄 I love that my body is resilient. After dealing with years of gut issues, it’s still going strong. I’m pretty good these days at giving it what it needs, but it took a lot tough times to get to that spot. 🦄 love that my body loves moving. Even though my workouts have been low key / somewhat non-existent the past couple weeks, my body still craves movement - which means more walks, yoga and mobility. 🦄 I love my hair. It makes me feel like a confident badass most days of the week. Sometimes I miss having long hair - which I haven’t had for almost 12 years - I own the shit out of my short cut. 🦄 I love my muscles. They also make me feel like a confident badass everyday. They let me lift heavy shit and do cool stuff in the gym. 🦄 i love my eyebrows (when they are filled) AND my hands. My eyebrows just make me feel put together and confident. My hands are my grandmas and they remind me of her.

Getting into the Thanksgiving spirit and re-made my stuffed acorn squash recipe 😋. This time I added a little organic sheep’s milk pecorino romano cheese on top (easier to digest than cow’s dairy)

Winter squash is loaded with nutrients like beta-carotene which is the precursor to vitamin A, meaning it gets converted into vitamin A in the body and helps to keep your eyes 👀 in tip top shape 👍. Winter squash is also full of fiber which promotes gut health, cardiovascular health, and can also help with weight management and blood sugar stabilization 👌👌

Ingredients: acorn squash (slice the top off and scoop out seeds or you can slice it vertically in half, and bake at 375 F), cremini mushrooms, wild rice, roasted chestnuts, onion, minced garlic, dried cranberries, sage, rosemary and a little olive oil. Sauté the stuffing, fill the inside of the roasted squash, and put back in the oven for about 10 mins. Option to sprinkle cheese on top too. Happy almost Thanksgiving!🍂 .

Pictured here (and recipe below) is a *healthier* version of our pal Mashed Taters: Roasted Garlic Cauliflower Mash. BUT before I share the recipe, I also want to share that I will DEFINITELY be enjoying real deal mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is 1 day of 354 others in the year, so I plan to eat intuitively and fill my plate with the things that make my heart happy next Thursday. Mood plays such a huge role in overall health and I know that depriving myself of a lil extra sweet potato casserole is gonna make me sad, so BRING ON THE SIDES BAYBEE!

Phew, now that that’s out of the way, here’s the quick and dirty (and EASY— 4 ingredients y’all) recipe for this BEYOND cauli mash (for me, for the other 364 days of the year):

1 head garlic
1 head cauliflower
2 Tbsp olive oil + dash for garlic
1/2 tsp salt
•
Chop garlic in half and smother in olive oil, wrap in foil and roast for 1 hr at 400. Chop cauliflower into florets. Steam or boil until soft. Add garlic, salt, olive oil, and cauliflower to a high speed blender or food processor and run on high until silky smooth consistency is achieved. Serve and enjoy! #fresherica

You know how people will make a smoothie and be like “it tastes like dessert!” And you’re like yeah I’m real sure that kale smoothie really does in fact taste exactly like a mint chocolate chip milkshake 🙄🤦‍♀️ Well friends, these baked pears 🍐 actually DO taste like dessert, and I’m a touch critic when it comes to foods that “taste just like other foods”…. go home zoodles, you are not pasta. Full disclosure though: if I was actually eating this for dessert instead of breakfast, you better believe ice cream would be joining the party because.. let’s be real 😘

Poached pear:
1. Preheat oven to 375
2. Slice pear and come out center
3. Place pear face down in an oiled pan (I used melted coconut oil mixed with cinnamon) and brush with oil on top
4. Bake for 30ish min until soft (may need to bake for longer if your pear isn’t very ripe. Just bake until soft) 
Toppings: plain yogurt, granola, and chocolate chia seeds
