Unilateral exercises are single-leg or single-arm movements. The primary benefit of including unilateral exercises in your training programs is that the exerciser is using both sides of the body equally, helps to isolate and correct muscle imbalances, improves balance, utilizes core muscles, aids in injury prevention and facilitates rehabilitation.
During the upward phase of this movement, you'll use your core, glutes, quads, hamstrings, calves, and even arms to propel yourself onto the box. When you land, your quads will do most of the work
The explosive force used in this move taps into your powerful fast-twitch muscle fibers.
Regardless of sport, most athletes can benefit immensely from adding unilateral training into their current training routine. Often, training regimens include a slew of bilateral movements, such as; barbell squats, deadlifts, presses, rows, snatches, and cleans, just to name a few. By not training unilaterally, (that is, training with one side/limb of the body at a time) coaches and athletes fail to address core stabilization, muscular imbalances, and even the well-documented, “Bilateral Deficit”.
“The bilateral limb deficit phenomenon is the difference in maximal or near maximal force generating capacity of muscles when they are contracted alone or in combination with the contralateral muscles. A deficit occurs when the summed unilateral force is greater than the the bilateral force.”

This. This is part of my WHY. This represents my mental health. I am no longer tied to someone else for my well being. I am responsible for my own well being. And I get to strive for my own personal goals and not someone else’s. . Train like an athlete? Prove it!
Side Note 📝: Be Consistent- it doesn’t have to be the best thing out and plus the time is never right. Do it and make correction along the way. Be Creative - Ideas come when you start doing something your passionate in, it’s just how the brain works. It’s meant to create better.
Be Confident- It’s the first but confidence is everything first starting out and eventually you will reach your potential. The book I read that caused me to look over imperfections and seeing results later is “The Compound Effect “ by Darren Hardy. It gave me understanding to continue to strive for better, stay focus and applying delay gratification!!!
