FINALLY got to try this new technique today and OMG!
AMAZING for that guest with THICK hair that no matter how much you thin it still feels thick! (I would not recommend this on fine-medium hair)
Yess when I first saw this being done I was just like most of you thinking WHAT THE HECK NO WAY! The hair will grow out funky, why would someone want to do that yada yada yada.
LET ME EXPLAIN!
When you thin the hair with thinning scissors you comb out the section to be thinned and cut below the natural bend of the hair. But almost ALL guests who sit in my chair wanting their hair thinned always complain about it being so thick still AT THE SCALP and ABOVE the natural bend. So yes you could technically thin above the natural bend but THAT is actually when you get those weird random short hairs sticking out. ALSO you ever notice that when you keep going in to get your hair thinned it still feels thick at the scalp and thin on the ends? That’s from over thinning! With this technique you eliminate all that while still getting rid of that bulk!! GENIUS!!
If you swipe over you’ll see @hairbysafiyaa showing her guest’s growout after 5 months. It’s just like when the hair naturally falls out at the scalp it will grow back perfectly NORMAL! And it should never be done at the top of the head (duh) so with all of that hair down over it YOU WILL NOT SEE IT! And use common sense don’t do this on the sides or above the bottom half of the head because it’s not needed. Everyone has the most hair in the bottom back half of their head. I’ve also seen @hairbysafiyaa cut slices but I wanted to start with a weave. And my guest LOVED it!
Tag all your thick haired friends!!

Do you have that one client who is your muse? Irida has been with me since I started hairdressing over 10 years ago. She has incredible hair and it’s been my pleasure to color, cut and style it for all of these years. 🙌🏼. @hairmeroar
Ok, these colors were so custom that I didn’t even know what we were going to create before I started mixing. I didn’t have a plan or vision, and my amazing client let’s me have free range. So, how did I decide on this? I played around with creating an earthy base with red, yellow and blue... it didn’t quite make brown because I’m sure my tones weren’t 100 percent pure. The cool thing was it created this deep plum base that inspired me because Andrea was wearing a similar eye shadow color.... and I knew it would look amazing on her over the balayage. So, then I started diluting it with other tones and decided that a lighter earthy pink and a mustard yellow would work really well with it. So, here’s what we came up with! I loveeeeee how this turned out! I love being creative and having free range. It’s literally the best. 💗 #bowandarrowhair
COLOR CORRECTION. •
Goal: to break up the line of demarcation from previous bleach retouch & remove red. •
1) @pulpriothair Blank Canvas+6vol
2) Cancel leftover pinkish tone using Seaglass (mint cancels pink) to create more of a blank canvas.
3) Colormelt using new #FACTION8 permanent color from @pulpriothair 🙌🏻 FORMULAS:
Roots: 6-0 + 5-8 + 10vol
Mids: 8-0 + 10vol 1:2 ratio (to make it a demi)
Ends: Rose Gold High Speed Toner (I know, I was canceling the pink but decided to go with Rose Gold, sometimes you go with the flow & things change☺️) •
WHO’S EXCITED FOR #FACTION8 ?!
All formulas were mixed with @brazilianbondbuilder #b3 to keep her hair strong & color was locked in with #ioniccolorlock 💪🏻
