🎨 ROCOCO BLOOM 🥀 designed for @hannah_murgatroyd and her now husband Simon married at the #guildhallbath a couple of weeks ago. The couple have a shared love of Rococo painting. I used ‘The Four Seasons’ by Boucher as my main inspiration here ➡️ for pics. Hannah herself is a talented painter and so this classic painterly inspiration here felt so relevant.
There’s a sense colour-wise in Rococo painting of going upward from dark to lighter shades. From greens and browns of nature to the pinks & whites of flesh & silks, to blues in the middle ground and the whites of clouds and sky up above. I recreated this feeling through colour & textural progression in the cake.
Large layered painterly blooms added a level of trompe l’oeil illusion against the painterly application of tinted buttercreams and multi coloured fruit petals. This mix of coloured and painterly surfaces represented both the Rococo influence and Hannah’s professional work. Flavour is always paramount for us! The top two tiers were Coffee, Cardamon, pink peppercorn & walnut cake layered with fresh raspberries, pomegranate & a mixed berry coulis. The bottom tier a super fudgey chocolate cake soaked in kirsch. Layered with black cherries & a sharp cherry coulis. More pics to come! Eat Your Art Out.
