In normal strawberry growing conditions it’s only 30 days from flower to edible fruit. The Tasmanian strawberry season has had a bit of a slow start this year due to weather conditions. Saying that, we are now seeing them regularly in Tasmanian markets and the shops. It‘s amazing what a difference a few warmer days can make, so expect to see them more! And all the places that have pick your own to be opening across Tasmania. It‘s such a great day out. .

For a change, today is a quiet morning. After being dragged out of bed by little P at six-thirty yet again, I combined my Saturday morning errands with a short walk through the village (passing those spots where I know to find bushes with berries in all colours at this time of the year). Back home, M is helping the neighbours setting up furniture in the children's room and P is playing kitchen more or less quietly with their younger daughter in his room. Time to have a mélange of green tea, maté and pineapple with a few cookies...
