Been going to The Mesquite Grill since 2005 and it is honestly one of the most consistent places in Dhaka and the fact that people still go crazy about them is a testament to that.
While we’ve been sticking to our comfort zone for a while (pizza and buffalo wings haha), we made a pact that we’ll try out at least one new item from now on. We decided to try two last night.
First off, we have the Calzone. We won’t lie but this is probably one of the more underwhelming dishes we have ever tried in Mesquite. From previous experiences, we know how a calzone is supposed to be soft and succulent but this was not. It was also quite bland and it had the whole pita bread vibe about it which made it taste more like a Mexican dish than Italian. The toppings of our choices were steak strips, bell peppers and mushrooms. Not a satisfactory experience.
Price: BDT 600
Next up is the Green Fire Chicken and if the Calzone disappointed then this delivered big time! Tender chicken prepared in garlic sauce, hidden within a crispy breaded layer and topped off with cheese. It was served with rice, vegetables and mashed potatoes which made for a delightful and filling meal. Must try!
Price: BDT 515
A trip to Mesquite is incomplete without buffalo wings. Their wings are simply unrivalled!

There are 5 stages to accepting grief, change or loss (apparently). They are: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. I first heard of this cycle when my company decided, rather unceremoniously, to uproot our #London team and move us to #Southampton . No, we yelled. We have families here. We have school going children. We own houses. I did not have property, children or family but I was newly married and had planned our future around London. I was not ready to leave my beloved city. I went through every possible scenario in my head to stay put. I started learning how to drive thinking maybe I could do the intercity commute. I looked at moving halfway so that I could still be relativey close to the main transport network. Then someone told me that was a rubbish idea, I was neither close to work nor in London so what was I gaining? In the months leading up to the move, my colleagues and I went through each of the 5 stages at our own pace (introduced to us by the dedicated ‘moving team’). We struggled with denial and anger for the longest time. Then we started bargaining for a good relocation package. Eventually, after some depressive lows, most of us reached the acceptance stage. But not everybody completed the cycle. Some remained stuck at the nevative stages, eventually leaving the company long after we had made the move. They suffered immensely in the interim because anger and depression aren’t good emotions to hold onto. This week I found myself in that cycle again due to some unfortunate circumstances. I went into denial, then I grew angry, now I am in that bargaining stage, slipping back to anger now and then. Eventually, I know I will reach the acceptance stage. I am keen on getting there sooner or later. Sometimes life throws curveballs at us, setting in motion this 5 stage cycle, which we can recognise and use to help us understand where we are and how we can get where we emotionally want to be. Fall has clearly aced all the stages, accepting that Summer is well and truly over, gracefully making way for Winter. Fall is in that going, going, gone stage and it breaks my heart a little. Will miss these 🍂 colours.

So they tore down the playground where we used to play in. I'm guessing that accommodating a stage during Durga puja was definitely a part of the agenda. I'm probably (not) way too old to ride on those tiny swings and slides. Doesn't make it any less painful. But going up comes with a fair share of old memories going down the rabbit-hole while we're too engrossed in the rat race. It's only when we stop to pause and contemplate that it really, truly hits us. I guess daily shots of nostalgia are more frequent these days than those of tequila (probably because tequila is wayy more expensive and Kolkata isn't exactly Cuba🤔). But yes, it sucks. Don't grow up, kids. Life's simpler when you're young.
If you following me for a long time then you might know already I love @pixibeauty lipsticks so much that I can’t even explain. All the shades are matte but so comfortable to wear and the wand is so precise to define the lips without any hassle. They recently came out with more shade range which you can mix and make your own shades.
Here comes the surprise!
I thought as I tried them already, had chance to play with which some of my followers might not been able to. Therefore, I want one of my followers to get the opportunity to play with the earlier shades of @pixibeauty which I am still loving. They are- Au Naturelle, Bare Beauty, Matte beige, Pastel Petal, Really Rose, Evening Rose and one of the newest shades Real Red. Yes, that’s 7 out of 11 shades 😇

I have been introduced to the world of calligraphy by @thelefthandedwildflower! The creative half of the online business based in Bangladesh, @madewithlove_bd, Humairah Shams has recently hosted a second workshop on calligraphy in Dhaka. I am glad I was part of the first one. I didn’t bring much from Bangladesh but her workbook and calligraphy pens ✒️ did make it into my luggage ! =•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=
Calligraphy has been very meditative for me, much like how adult colouring books are to some people. Are any of you into anything similar ?
@nyxcosmetics CANT STOP WON’T STOP Foundation review ✋🏼 If you all didn’t know by now I am a foundation JUNKIE!! So of course when I saw the promos for this I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, (Or shall I say get it on my face).🤣 Nyx worked with the lovely @alissa.ashley to deliver an AMAZING 45 shades. Obviously I got overexcited and ordered the wrong shade (GOLDEN) but I made it work. Who hasn’t done that before? 😱
So it’s MEDIUM to FULL buildable coverage and believe me when I tell you it covers EVERYTHING!!! It feels rather LIGHT compared to other high COVERAGE foundations and the finish is a FLAWLESS MATTE. It’s not overly drying but just enough to tackle my oily tzone. It’s deffo WATERPROOF and TRANSFER PROOF (what I look for in a foundation being a hijabi so a bonus), and tested up to 8 hours for LONGEVITY, still looks like how I first applied it.
The foundation doesn’t need to be set with a powder even though I always do, so you don’t need to worry about looking/feeling cakey. 🎂
I LOVE that it comes with a pump, minimal waste and easy application.
The only cons I can say is that it does OXIDISE, and may not be suitable for dry skin. Dries down pretty quick so you have to work fast. Also best to go in with a hydrating primer.
All in all I am LOVING this foundation, reminds me of the @fentybeauty foundation as it’s quite similar. It works AMAZINGLY for my combination skin and photographs well.
I think it’s suitable for normal, oily/combination skin and I do prefer this over the Total Control Drop Foundation.
RRP £14 is a great price for the QUALITY of the foundation.

I did nothing all day but slept, ate and slept again 😢 hope you guys had a more eventful day! Also, I realized that being a sibling makes you quite fickle-minded. Last night, my Grandma told me that my brother had really missed me when I had gone out during the evening. Because he had been asking 'when will Didi come home?' for the longest time. I acted like I didn't believe that, but went like 'Awwwwww' ^_^ ' inside. But today I came to know that he'd been asking that question because I had accidentally left with his headphones while going out. 😑😐😑😒
