The Dumbbell Bench Press is a phenomenal unilateral compound movement that effectively targets your chest, shoulders, and triceps with a deep range of motion.
—
1️⃣ To start, pick up your dumbbells and sit down on the bench with the dumbbells resting on top of your thighs.
2️⃣ Using your thighs thrust your arms up while you’re leaning back to get your dumbbells up to your chest.
3️⃣ Your starting position is with the dumbbells aligned with your mid-chest, forearms perpendicular to the floor, hands slightly angled down, shoulder blades retracted, and feet firmly planted on the floor.
4️⃣ While maintaining a secure body position, press the dumbbells up and together using your chest, shoulders and triceps till your arms are fully extended.
5️⃣ Squeeze your chest muscles for a count then slowly return back to the starting position.
6️⃣ Repeat for your desired number of reps.

❇️ In order to effectively recruit your chest muscles, you want to make your shoulder blades are retracted prior to your first rep. Additionally, don’t fully lock out to the point you lose tension through your rhomboids as it will promote sub-par chest engagement.
❇️ Maintain your slightly angled hands throughout the movement without rotating the dumbbells as this will alter the muscles you recruit for your dumbbell bench press.
❇️ By keeping your feet firmly planted into the floor you can more effectively recruit your chest, shoulder and triceps because your body isn’t trying to stabilize itself through only your core while pressing; as would happen if you elevated your feet off the ground.

Hey Instagram, long time no workout post 🤷🏻‍♀️ but lately I’ve been feeling a little under the weather & not like my typical self at all.
