We've just spent the most fabulous evening last night at Tredegar House, Newport with the 10th Newport East St John's Rainbows and Brownies and all thanks to their Brown Owl Ann Cotterill. It was a pleasure to help out with Channel Kayaks 😊
I’ve been reading an intriguing book called Lessons From Madame Chic. I got it because I’ve been studying up on building a capsule wardrobe, but there was a great reminder of ways to incorporate exercise into your daily life. .
~Create an active challenge for yourself every day. Whenever possible, walk stairs instead of using the elevator. Park farther away. Take your dog for a walk, choosing a new route every day. .
~Explore your neighborhood. You see different things when you walk rather than drive. You may also meet more people around you and gain a greater sense of community. .
. ~Make your leisure time more active. Stop sitting on your couch. Walk by a pond or river. Go to a museum or park. Schedule your free time away from the TV. .
~Housework is a great way to incorporate exercise into your day. Most of us have to do housework in some form or another. Make the most of it. Clean and exercise at the same time. Do lunges while you vacuum, squats when you dust. Try speed cleaning your house every day. Dance while wiping surfaces. Put on some motivational music and go for it! .
I’m always looking for music to add to my playlist. Tell me the song you always blast when you need some motivation or a pick-me-up! .
Morning runs to get ya mind right 🏃🏼♀️💭
3 reasons why i enjoy running:
•It's a great stress relief and mind clearer
•It's blissful and meditative and makes me feel free and alive
•It's a simple and easy exercise that helps to improve cardiovascular and brain health
If you don't really enjoy running then find a friend to run with, listen to some music, and run outside vs. on a treadmill to make it wayyyy more enjoyable!
New July spread/title page. Sorry that I haven’t been posting much I will be a little more active this month. How are your holidays going? Today I am grateful for light and shadows☁️✨🦋 #july#newmonth#bubbles#bemoreactive#happy
If you’re outdoors this summer.. ☺️☀️
Yesterday I posted about the variety of activities that are done in the summer which are “exercise” but are more considered “fun!”
Today I went and did one of those activities!
Anyone ever been to Enchanted Rock? (Meeee! 🙋🏻♀️ First timer today! ☺️ )
What’s your favorite place to hike? Fish? Swim? (Comment below! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼)
Today, I’m sharing a few ways to make your hikes/runs/walks a little more challenging:
▫️Pace; you can go running along the trail, or take your time.
▫️Elevation; pick trails that challenge you! The higher the elevation, the more muscle engagement you’re getting in the lower extremities
▫️Distance; if you’ve got the snacks and water handy, you could spend all day out there!
▫️Weight; if you wear a backpack or vest, this is a sure way to make it tougher.
The wonderful thing about this is you can scale the intensity throughout the activity. •
Example: if I start out really hoofin’ it on the trail at a fast pace, I hit some elevation and keep pushing through - I can decrease my pace. Makes sense, right?
Especially if you’re in it for the long haul and it’s a full day affair!
Some ways to make these activities easier:
▫️Take more frequent rest breaks, or breaks of longer duration
▫️Use a walking stick - this helps because it offloads some of your body weight and requires less work on your part to keep movin’.
Also, don’t forget to fuel up before heading out, or bring snacks in case you run low on steam!🍌🍎🥪
I dare y’all to do something outside and kick it up a notch this weekend!
One of my daily goals lately is to MOVE more (outside of the gym)! 🚶🏻♀️I got a new Garmin to track my activity and I’m not even ashamed to admit that it motivates me to be more active! 🙃 It’s like a daily competition with myself 😜 #moveyourbody
