I went into a cafe today to get coffee and there was a woman "dancing" around the cafe with a very similar body language and chorea to my mum. She was getting her coffee and bumping into everyone.. As she walked outside to leave, I overheard a woman say "look at her being a nuisance dancing around"

I didn't tip my coffee on this ladies head.. even though I momentarily felt like it ... But rather I just gave her a very stern look.

It made me sad to realise that even in 2018 we are still so uneducated about neurological illnesses... like Huntingtons Disease.. and others.. and people in general with a disability.

Yes they look "strange" ... Yes they dance around.. Its often not a very glamorous sight... and it might make you feel incredibly uncomfortable... as you enjoy the privalige of your body, health and mind.

But let's use our abilities to say hi and be kind... When I had babies I dreaded my mum visiting me in hospital because of what people would say and do. Perhaps that dread would have been less if we had a "safe" culture and community that understands and embraces neurological issues and all of its horror....as well as the beauty and courage that person still brings.

The change of your own mindset has one incredible power. If you really know how powerful one bad thought is you wouldn't want to think anything bad again. But yet we are so good in telling ourselves how bad we are, "we are not able to it", "we are not worthy to love", "We don't deserve that job" "I can't" "I'm to old" Etc etc. I know I have been struggling with that. And I still am sometimes! And it's so damn stupid. I mean shouldn't we all be kind to ourselves? Thinking only good thought? Saying we are great, we are beautiful, we deserve that person or we deserve to be happy or we are fucking awesome and able to do everything we dream of?  And yet we don't. We wait for others to confirm us, so either we have great people around us that lifts us or we have people that confirm our stupid bad thoughts and that brings us even more down that deep darkness. We can't be that naive, we need to start with ourselves and our thoughts, because they are the most important ones. So today I ask you to tell yourself 3 kind things about you. I'm gonna start with. "I'm fabulous" "I'm inspiring" "I'm can do what ever I want to do, because I'm sure gonna make it".
You have to start with you and even if you don't believe in the words right now, continue because the brain and the subconscious will know the change. Why do we need stillness? If you are reading this, then you likely already know why. Assuming you’d like to supplement your curiosity, however, consider the speed at which things are moving in life. For most of us, it’s safe to say that things can get busy, even chaotic, at times. Despite increased efficiency in technology and broadened horizons of information sharing, there’s never enough time for everything we want to do and everywhere we want to be. Life just moves fast — real fast.

Though, just because life itself tends to move fast, doesn’t mean that we have to adhere to this rule as well. We can find moments, simple moments, of tranquility throughout our day where we don't need to rush from point A to B.

Of course, this applies to our minds more than anything! Thoughts are rushing through our minds, we are constantly thinking about what we did do, what we didn’t do, what we have yet to do, etc. In order for this to settle down we need to practice stillness.

As easy as it may seem to practice stillness, the difficulty stems from the sheer effort it takes to simply remember to do so. In other words, being still is not the hard part — it is the effort we have to take to remember this stillness that proves tricky.

Here I share three steps which can help you achieve stillness, embrace it, and ultimately increase and deepen it as part of your daily routine.

Psychological freedom is sometimes seen only in glimpses or flashes. Suddenly some life event or an insight empties our past emotional content, and anchors our mind into the present.
⠀⠀
In such a state there is no movement of thought, yet there is an immense potential power to be experienced. Power, which is not control but, the realization that control is entirely unnecessary. A feeling that everything is just perfect. Not one thing out of its proper place.
⠀⠀
Such glimpses may not last, because the mind cannot suspend its yearning too long in this world, which is driven by achievement and productivity. Eventually we are thrown back into the daily grind of struggles.
⠀⠀
Yet, however brief these experiences may be, they show us how full of limitations our daily life is. The first step in understanding these limitations is becoming aware that they exist, and sometimes a flash of awareness does the trick.

Once our eyes have seen it, something in it permanently changes. It can never turn back. It has subconsciously begun its search for freedom.

I was running late for Clover’s piano lesson, and I couldn’t find her piano book anywhere. Clover was following me around saying, “Mommy, can you hug me?”

I said, “Clover, I can’t right now, we are running so late and I don’t have time... I have to find that piano book!”

But Clover kept following me around, asking for a hug. Finally I said, “Okay! We’ll just be late!” Then I kneeled down to hug her and her sweet little arms wrapped around my neck. Then I glanced across the room, and sure enough, her piano book was right in my line of vision. It was sitting under a couple of magazines on the coffee table. I literally laughed out loud and said, “Okay, God, I get it!!”

I hear this word being thrown around left, right and centre. “I came home and he hadn’t washed up, this made me so anxious!’, “I can’t find a dress for tonight’s party, I’m getting anxiety”, “Stop fiddling with your hair, you’re giving me anxiety!”. So, what does it actually mean? Anxiety is a mental illness, it’s a feeling which can overwhelm it’s host, a feeling of worry, nervousness or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. It’s really challenging to live with and when people throw this term around willy-nilly it really does take it away from those who truly have to deal with this on a day to day basis. Please be mindful ladies and gents, don’t confuse mere nerves with anxiety. Don’t get me wrong, everyone at some point in life will suffer from anxiety, anxiety in itself is a normal experience, but not all anxiety is a mental illness - there is a difference. Abnormal anxiety is when it takes over person’s day to day life. Anxiety is a mental illness, only because you can’t see it (even though it does have physical symptoms) doesn’t mean it’s not there and throwing this term around without thought is a slap in the face to those who are truly suffering 💕

A lot of us put ourselves on the back burner this time of year, for whatever reason that is for you. We put off our own well being and think when January arrives we’ll take care of ourselves again. We think of January 1 as some magical day which will grant us more time and motivation to do the things we’ve put off because life has been too “busy”.⁣

This year, let’s choose to give and serve others just like we always have but let’s be sure to fill our cup too. Because, when we love ourselves better, we love others better too. ⁣

Around the time when I was drinking —> now when I don’t. My physical appearance alone bothered me. My skin was not nearly as nice as it is now and I felt sluggish all of the time. The emotional aspect of it all was even worse! I always felt so useless and and gross after drinking. I’d get nothing done and only serve myself and I was rarely interested in what others were doing. My life is entirely different now. Worrying about others needs before my own and always making sure I am healthy and happy! Calm and content is life’s true pleasure. I’m so grateful to be where I am today! ❤️

Breathing slowly & mindfully activates our hypothalamus, which is connected to the pituitary gland in the brain. Breathe deep & we send out neurohormones that inhibit stress-producing hormones that trigger a relaxation response in our body. The hypothalamus links our nervous system to the endocrine system, which secretes the hormones that regulate all activities throughout our body. Whenever you start feeling your body get stressed, #bemindful & #breathedeep you can control your body’s response to #stress through your #mind .
