Sometimes, when things are falling apart, they are falling into place. Don’t’ let setbacks derail you from your end goal. Use them as motivation and lessons and keep pushing towards what you want. In the end, you will be stronger and will have reached a far bigger goal. ⠀
| NEW TEACHER |
We have a new teacher apart of the Mindful family!
Marcelle and I did our teacher training together and she’s such a beautiful person inside and out ☺️ We’re so excited to have you @zengangstayoga. Check out her story below. .
“I strongly believe that self-care and self-love are part of the work and our commitment to our communities. We can’t care for and love on others if we don’t first love and care for our selves. My own journey toward yoga, wellness, and healthy living is deeply personal and political. I first began practicing yoga as a way toward understanding my own self-care and self-love needs. My wellness journey also includes practicing veganism, reflective and creative writing, and healthy, soulful living. Over the years, I have experienced being one of few persons of color in yoga spaces, especially in the earlier years of my practice. Though, I know that self-care and wellness is central to my identity as a Black woman and is grounded in our history of survival and perseverance. I became a 200-hour certified registered yoga instructor because I wanted to specialize in yoga for underrepresented groups and for community-based organizations—to create inclusive and diverse yoga spaces. My goal is to bring yoga to more communities of color and to challenge the misrepresentation of people of color and yoga, healthy living, and healthy eating. My sistafriends nicknamed me “The ZenG” because of what they describe as my blissfully zen yet “I don’t take no mess” attitude. Being ZenG, I am unapologetic about living well and creating spaces for people of color and other diverse identities to honor and care for their bodies and each other. My teaching practice has centered a community engaged approach to yoga and wellness that culminates in yoga and writing retreats for women and couples of color, yoga and mindfulness workshops in urban school contexts, and regular yoga classes and sistercircles in the community. Hair iron accident! Who has done that!? My hair is too short for this curling iron so I do that often! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿 Lavender is safe to use neat which means it doesn't need to dilute... (But always test on your skin first! Safe option is dilute a bit with carrier oil)
Lavender is a friend with any skin issues! So it always stays in my bathroom cupboard!
Had one of the most heart breaking and melting experiences of my life. Went to an animal rehabilitation sanctuary that takes in the elephants that were abused and used for tourism and wood lodging. They taught us about these highly intelligent and emotion animals and shown light on how they are treated behind the scenes of Circus acts, elephant riding, and so much more they are put through after being ripped away from their mothers. It made my heart hurt so much for them but made me happy that there is some places that help the animals instead of hurting them🌿🙏🏾🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 #elephants#crueltyfree#rehabilitation#travelingthailand#bemindful#chiangmai#elephantnaturepark#free
A few months ago someone asked me how was I so happy all the time. Intrigued, I asked what made them think that. The answer made me gulp. “Because you are always smiling in your photos”
The truth is that no, I am not always happy. I have however, through time, worked very hard at gathering tools that help me navigate and work through life whenever it smacks me straight in the face.
Yes, you will see me smile a lot these days because life is good right now. But even during the good times there’s shit days. Sometimes I move, dance, meditate through them and others I sit in front of some shitty TV with a big glass of wine and a plate of cheese (my housemates are to vouch for this...🤷🏽♀️) I don’t have a huge following, nor it is my intention while being here but I guess what I am trying to say for those who I do reach is this:
Remember that what we all share in these little squares are little snippets of our lives. More often than not of the ‘good times’ but they are not our entire lives.
Since that day I committed myself to be more mindful about what I share on here and the reasons behind it (it’s up in my bio ☝🏼). I’m not saying we should all post our shit days on social media but we could all do with being a little bit more mindful when we hit “share”.
I’m interested to hear your thoughts. Why do you share? .
What do we gain from positive feedback?
Last month I was on holiday with my family in France. I can picture the scene now. It was a beautiful warm evening, we were sat on the terrace of a quaint little French restaurant, amazing smells of cooking were wafting through the air, I was sipping a glass of bubbly and all was good with the world, apart from... the irritating sound of my two children bickering with each other!! So, in true ‘my Mum’s a trainer’ fashion, I told them we were going to play the Feedback Game and everyone had to take it turns to give each other one piece of positive feedback of either something they loved about that person or something they’d noticed. After much eye rolling and tutting, we got started. I have to be honest here and say that certain members of my family are still ‘work in progress’ when it comes to delivering positive and genuine feedback to each other!! BUT... it was now my 11 year old son’s turn and he looked at me and then paused for a moment. He said he was trying to think of the right words to use, eventually he looked at me and said “Mummy, you always make the most of everything”. I can’t tell you how much this meant to me to hear him say this. 💕It was like all my efforts of past endeavours to lead by example with a positive mindset have been worth it (and my goodness sometimes it’s flipping hard to always turn things into a positive!). I figure that as part of my work if I’m encouraging others to lead with a positive mindset and use positive re-framing, I need to live and breathe this too. And it had been noticed, by an 11 year old boy no less!!! So the moral and messages from this story are:-
1. Positive feedback makes people feel noticed, valued and appreciated. It’s a basic human need!
2. Positive feedback reinforces the good and encourages people to continue with that behaviour.
3. Look for opportunities to give people positive feedback. Notice the good!
4. If you’re not getting feedback from people, come right out and ask for it!

Friday is a pretty magical day (cos weekend) so today we’re talking about the most esoteric element of Fostering a Positive Mindset: Visualisation.
This is the practise by which we visualise and manifest what we want in our lives.
I’ve seen some pretty crazy ‘coincidences’ come out of this, and some believe that this is how we ask the Universe for what we want.💫 How it works: write down ‘I have/I can’ (present tense) followed by what you want, visualise it and hold the image. This can be for anything.
Do this for a few minutes a day.
Share what you’re visualising if you want really want to put it out there 👇🏻
What truth is trying to bust out of YOU?! What part of yourself are you trying to hide from the world, out of fear of Truly Being SEEN?
A suppressed version of yourself is not doing anyone any favours.
The world wants the REAL you!
Go give it to them!!! 💋
Cozy forever & working harder than ever☁️ I used to believe the two could never coexist. That “work“ would always be tedious and mundane and unenjoyable. But it’s so not true! We all have a purpose, and the more aligned our lives are with that purpose the happier and more fulfilled we become. 🌿
