It’s crazy that I’ve been taking pictures of my beers for so long. I took this pic on this exact day five years ago. Not only has my palate changed, but my photography has changed as well. Have you had any of these beers before?

Endémica Galápagos Blonde Ale (4.2%): A friend of mine visited Galápagos and brought back some local beers. I think, it is nice, when friends think of me om their vaccation - “no hints, guys” 😘 Smooth body with a typical Blonde feature and a slightly dry finish. Sadly, it is not really an exotic experience - hardly an experience.
Beer style: Blonde Ale

American Imperial IPA (Extreme Ale)
Ahhhhh yes, the IPA with a legit warning label on it.
I have seen this brew often in passing in a few of the shops I go to.
The label catches my eye every time and I’m sure many others as well because A: It’s bright yellow and black coloring, and B: A warning label about the high alcohol content and drinking while pregnant.
So I could not resist any longer and decided to give it a taste.
Right away just from the pour I knew it was going to be boozy because of the cola color and almost zero head that disintegrated from the alcohol.
Aroma wise it had big malt notes, fig and boooozzzeee.
The malt carried over into the taste and my first sip was met with a crackery, sugary, hoppy but balanced flavor.
Maybe even some plum underneath all the bitter hops and alcohol.
Mouthfeel left a lot to be desired and was rather flat with a very bitter finish. But I was expecting that nonetheless.
My question though after finishing that glass was, if I had bought it because I was in the mood for a strong IPA. Did it deliver?
If I’m being honest with myself it’s not a great beer and it doesn’t taste like an IPA at all. It reminds me a lot of Asylum by Left Coast. But that actually tastes like an IPA.
Up The Creek is along the lines of a barelywine. Yet, you can buy a better tasting one. So I can’t quite recommend other then maybe for the curiosity 👍🏼
A perfect night for beer and soup pairings with @prudhomme_beer @aphroditecooks followed by a glassware profiling exercise. An easy exercise to try at home, take a beer of your choice and try it in different glasses to see how the shape of the vessel changes aromas, flavours and even mouthfeel. It also helps to use a delicious beer like @unibroue Tout Le Monde. Try it for yourself to justify having a crazy amount of glassware, because science.

Red Beet Double IPA (RBDIPA v1.0) - 9.99%
Brewed in collaboration with No Reason To Live for Brewtal Beerfest 3. This is a huge Double IPA with a malt backbone to hold up to a hop onslaught. The hop bitterness is assertive but not over the top. It is crushed in the kettle, whirlpool and three dry hop stages with Simcoe, El Dorado and Columbus for a dank, piney and fruity hop punch. It is conditioned with beet powder and small amount of red hibiscus for a blood red color.
First (non-collab) beers from @durationbeer are in the fridges ready for you to try. Two lovely pale ales, one of them a wee bit farmhousey (definitely a word), we’re excited to see more of what’s to come from Bates, Miranda & the team.
