Not So Nice Guy by @authorrsgrey is one of my most anticipated reads of the summer (plus it comes out in my birthday month)! That excitement escalated even more when I saw the cover 😍 About NOT SO NICE GUY – Releasing August 9th “Oh my god. Who is that?” I get asked this question a lot. “Oh him?” I reply. “That’s just Ian.” Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century. Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol’ washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.
Just Ian is…just my best friend.
We’re extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at work assumes we’re a couple—that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher’s lounge that he’s single. Fair game. Suddenly, it’s open season on Ian.
He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.
He’s turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into X-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.
I want to assume he’s playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always—but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn’t leave a lot of room for confusion.
I’m a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can’t keep my hands to myself. So, I’m just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss—oh who am I kidding?! Goodbye Ian, ol’ buddy, ol’ pal!
Helloooo mister not so nice guy.

And it's mutual: you've never been so certain of anything. So when he leaves for a long-booked holiday and promises to call from the airport, you have no cause to doubt him.
But he doesn't call. Your friends tell you to forget him, but you know they're wrong: something must have happened; there must be a reason for his silence.
What do you do when you finally discover you're right? That there is a reason -- and that reason is the one thing you didn't share with each other? The truth.

"You know the greatest lesson of history? It's that history is whatever the victors say it is. That's the lesson. Whoever wins, that's who decides the history.” - All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr.
All the Light We Cannot See is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking books I've read. The prose is beautiful. Doerr manages to pack strong and powerful messages in short sentences, and paints a devastating but hopeful scenario while at it. This is one of the books I'll never stop recommending, so if you're into historical fiction and prose that makes you stop and take a moment to digest, consider adding this to your tbr.
What is the last book you read that left you a sobbing mess? I don't remember when was the last time book made me cry - and, to be sure, I cry pretty easily. I think The Graveyard Book got a tear or two out of me, but those were bittersweet tears. - House Pride. Showing off my House's color!

a book i have yet to read but reaaally wanna get to soon!
i saw panic! at the disco last night and they were absolutely incredible!! i love brendon urie’s voice and they played so many of my favorite songs 😭❤️ who’s your favorite singer/band?
Feel like I should say sorry for not being active as much as I used too.
Anyway these are the books I've read I'm the last 2 weeks.
City of ashes by Cassandra Clare was a really good read. I heard not many people likes the second book of this series but I prefer city of ashes than city of bones. A lot of things happened and I feel like it flowed good. But the relationship between Clary and Jace is just, very uncomfortable.
Percy Jackson book 1 and 2 was amazing. I thought i would hate the series because everybody loved these books but I was pleasantly surprised. I did prefer the first book than the 2 one
Both books are 4.5/5 stars
And lastly was the maze runner. This book I didn't like. I wasn't connected to the characters and I feel like the world building wasn't the best. I am going to listen to the next book of the series to see if I like it but if not I'll probably DNF the series. Which is disappointing because I liked the movies. Maybe that's why I didn't vibe with it as much?
Current reads: Queen of shadows by Sarah j maas and There's someone in your house by Stephanie Perkins 📚
“I keep wishing you had had a better life...a different life. But a different life would have made you a different Blue." He looked at me then. "And that would be the biggest tragedy of all.”
~Amy Harmon, A Different Blue
Happy Monday, Friends! How is this new week treating you so far? .
This morning I finished A Different Blue by Amy Harmon, and I truly can not stop thinking about it. It was such an incredible book. There are few literary characters that I liked as much as I liked Blue. She was hard at first, the product of a tough and lonely life, but I loved watching her transformation as the story progressed. I loved her journey to redemption and her strength to fight to become who she was meant to be, even amidst doubts. Even when she felt all alone.
I also really loved Wilson, even though at times his indecision frustrated me, I loved their relationship and how he was on a journey of self-discovery, just as she was. I loved that Blue taught him just as much about life as he taught her, and their chemistry was off the charts! This story was so beautiful, so heartbreaking, yet hopeful; so full of redemption and healing, and it is one you’ll definitely want to read! .
“Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard, and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.
This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody. It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love. But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are. Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.”
Heyyyy, it’s been a hot second since I’ve been here 🤗 it’s just that my reading life has been all over the place... I spend days without reading and since I read 1984 I haven’t been able to finish a book 🙈 but I don’t think this is something to be ashamed of because if there’s one thing we can all agree on is that reading slumps are the absolute worst! Anyway... going to try my luck with this beauuuutiful edition of siege & storm 💃
🍭 Thank you @macmillan.audio @stmartinspress for the free review copy. 🍭
BABY TEETH by Zoje Stage will be out tomorrow, July 17th.
This debut novel is one of the most chilling, deliciously creepy books I've read in a long time & probably go down as one of my favorites. The audio version is fantastic - Gabra Zackman really brings her A-game to this narration, especially for young Hanna's voice...it was just the right amount of young & creepy to go with the story line.
This story is dark, at times downright scary & I was totally obsessed! It totally gets under your skin & you will find yourself thinking of nothing else until you reach the conclusion. I highly recommend it!!!
My full review can be found on my blog - link is in my profile...but wait!!! I was lucky enough to be sent both an advanced copy & a finished copy of this book which means a #BookGiveaway for all of you!!! Head over to the blog to read more about the book & to enter! 🤓
#Giveaway is open to US residents only & ends 7.23.18. Link to enter is in my profile. Good luck!! 🍀
Are you a morning person or an evening person? I had to get up at 3am for work today. It always feels like a bit of a tough one, until at half 10 I am done with work for the entire day and then I realise I get the wholeeeee day to myself 🖤
I hadn’t read anything in like 4 days and this morning I finished a book 😭 I didn’t really like it, but still! No more slumps for me ✨

Na was sagt ihr? 💖

I didn't have time to post yesterday, as I do on Sundays, to share what made me happy last week, but for good reasons... As our French football team won the World Cup! AHEM. So, to start the week just right, I decided to talk about what made me happy last week in today's post:
• watching all the remaining football games, whether it was with my family or my best friend.
• FRANCE WON THE FOOTBALL WORLD CUP. @carolovesreading and I couldn't breathe during the entire game, we waited a long time in front of the TV afterwards just to hear our team captain speak (lmao), we went outside and the atmosphere was truly something. I can't believe that I'll be able to remember all of this, because the last time we won was 20 years ago and I was two, so.
• I rewatched Fantastic Beasts and it was everything. • okay I'll take a moment to appreciate that it was colder at some point this week and I could wear pants and all. I really miss being a little cold. 🙈
• Caroline and I arrived at the place we're staying at for our holidays and we are going to have so much fun!!
What made you happy last week? ✨
So, it is Monday and I start my new job tomorrow! In honor of my new adventure in the real world, I will also be starting my new theme tomorrow as well! 🤞 I can't even explain to you how much i hope you love it because I love it!
Today I'm spending my time at the chiropractor then headed to pick up my new glasses! I'm so ready. I've been blind for twenty freaking years and there is nothing better than getting new glasses!🤓

Hi all. It's me. I have noticed a few new names and faces around this little space. I thought I would just take a second to share a few fun facts about me: .
- I am a writer. I am almost done with a novel that feels like its been "almost done" for a year. 😂
- I cannot stand broccoli. I can't even eat it. I have tried. Can't do it. .
- I love to travel and am making plans to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc next year. .
- I studied English and history in college... focusing primarily on African American and women's literature. .
- I used to ride and train horses... I assume I still can, it's just been six years since I've ridden. .
- Last I tried, I could squat 200lbs. I am sure I cannot do that now 😂 .
- I love pitbulls and have one. So fair warning, don't start an argument with me on breed laws unless you want to lose said argument. .
- My favorite color is black and I love rock, blues, jazz, and old country. 🤘🏻
Q: Tell me a fun fact about yourself! .

⠀⠀ Update on the coffee grinder: I found a cute little one that works so well and WHOA! Y’all? Ya girl just got upgraded. I think I might be on my way to becoming a coffee snob. Don’t stop me. This is the life and I’ve been missing out. 😍
