The Senior Transportation Assistance Program is our first venture exclusively for seniors. We get individual seniors the transportation they need throughout the day by simply scheduling a ride over the phone. We love these gals! Once again the girls from @salon1050e are here at Bluffton Self Help offering FREE back-to-school haircuts! They are donating their time and talents to spread goodness and help kids look spiffy for that first day back at school! Thanks so much ladies! ❤️
I love @seasonalityspices so much. They’re always doing something charitable. Currently they’re doing a spice exchange program!! Purchase some spices and donations of spices will be donated to local shelters. And if you don’t understand the value of being able to season food, you’re lucky indeed. Let’s get back to donating supplies to people who need them. Let’s ask them what they need. They don’t need your 5 years old can of mini corn that’s got dust on it. They need socks, utensils, toiletries and of course seasonings. Get inspired and put those good ideas to use! Featured: fried corn, spicy cilantro and curry nacho cheese!!! I got to use @seasonalityspices Freeport curry blend and my Cumin!!! #seasonalityspices#seasonalitysighting#cheflife#vegannachocheese#eatme#ohhey#spiceexchange#charity#beagoodneighbor#helpinghand#holistic#love#life#vegan#lasvegas
Some would say, I wasted my time today. But, I found adventure and purpose; even if it was temporary. I’m glad I was, where I was, today. #payitforward#beagoodneighbor watch my story. Engage me, this is supposed to be a social platform; isn’t it? Let’s swap stories, how have you paid it forward recently? It could be something small, like taking out your neighbors trash, cause they were struggling with it. Or buying an ice cream cone for the kid who is about 45 cents too short; so you let him keep his money and just pay for it. Little things, they make the soul smile, next time that person can help, they will; because they will remember being helped. Start a good cycle, give without worrying if it’ll come back; it will eventually, trust me. #motivation#kindnessmatters#helpahuman#benice oh and Don’t EVER PAY ANY “AGENCY” ANY MONEY. When they want you they do not ask for money, ever. Your best bet would be to get an agent and if an agent believes in you they work and wait to get paid off the commission; they won’t ask for upfront either, why? Cause real agents only take people they are sure will make them money off their investment in you. #PSA

Unexpected ways to serve during Back-To-School Insanity: be a blessing to others who are busy too!
When I feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or completely frazzled, I know I need to take a step back and focus on other people around me. When I actually remember to do that, it works every.single.time. I feel better even though my circumstances didn’t change a bit.
Here are 4 easy ways to survive this time of year by serving others:
✏️If you still need to do some school shopping, pick up some extra supplies for your child’s teacher or school and drop them off anonymously.
🍭Kids love ding-dong-dash (or whatever you call it), so let’s make it positive! Write a “good luck this year!” on a card and attach it to a bag of candy to leave by neighbors’ front doors.
🗣Be on the lookout for something positive that happens at your child’s school and share it on social media. Our teachers and administrators could always use a shout out!
💌Write a quick note to last year’s teacher. Be specific about how they helped your child.
Our service-learning box is another easy way for you to serve with your family. Get our next box at the link in our bio!
What else could we add to this list?
It's easy to get swept up by drama, Dear One. It can be easy to lose yourself in an embellished version of what's going on, rather than stepping back and seeing things more objectively. Today, you are invited to unplug from the worst-case scenarios that your Fear Mind loves to imagine. Today, you are called to face the facts instead of getting carried away by a highly exaggerated version of What Is.
Sure, it can feel a bit boring and wooden to downplay your emotions sometimes. Sure, you don't want to be a robot or a callous and heartless drone. But sometimes your emotions can distort the truth of a matter. Sometimes, your Fear Mind can paint one too many layers over what's actually happening or what it really means, and this can destabilize you in a significant way.
Peel back some of those highly charged layers today if you can, Beloved. Start with the most volatile story you tell yourself about what's going on- the version of past or present events that makes you the most anxious or filled with dread. If you tell yourself something like, 'I'm going to lose EVERYTHING!' or 'I will NEVER recover from this!', commit to asking yourself, 'Is that really true? Can I know for sure that my thoughts are accurate in this case?' Spoiler alert: they're probably not.
Draw your worst-case scenarios out to their logical conclusions today. Dissect them thoroughly and meticulously as a scientist might. When you keep asking yourself, 'Is that true?' and 'Is this real?', you'll soon recognize that no, the Drama Llama isn't actually the best authority on what's going on here. Beneath all of the embellishments and exaggerations you sometimes espouse, you'll uncover the truth and the real heart of the matter here: you'll get through this. This, too, shall pass. All will be well... or all IS well now.
(I wrote and posted these insights two years ago originally, but it felt pertinent to repost them today in light of the break-ins Marty and I have experienced in Ecuador recently. 🤦🏻♀️😉 #takingmyownmedicine#dramallamastrikesagain#buthopefullynotforlong )
Learning from Mister Rogers
A few weeks ago, our family made a last-minute, late-night trip to the movie theater to watch Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, the documentary film that tells the story of Fred Rogers and his popular children’s TV program, Mister Rogers Neighborhood. To be honest with you, I never really watched the show when I was younger. I guess I must have been “too cool” for it or something like that. But after hearing the story of Mister Rogers and learning about the kind of man he was, I wished I would have.
I left the theater that night wanting to learn more, so I found and read a book called The Simple Faith of Mister Rogers by Amy Hollingsworth. The wisdom and truths found throughout it were both convicting and inspiring.
Although there was so much in the book I would like to share with you, here is one of my favorite things, a story about the author asking Mister Rogers a question that she told at the book’s conclusion:
Every Person is Unique “If you had one final broadcast,” I asked, “one final opportunity to address your television neighbors, and you could tell them the single most important lesson of your life, what would you say?” He paused a moment and then said, ever so slowly: "Well, I would want [those] who were listening somehow to know that they had unique value, that there isn’t anybody in the whole world exactly like them and that there has never been and there never will be. And that they are loved by the Person who created them, in a unique way. If they could know that and really know it and have that behind their eyes, they could look with those eyes on their neighbor and realize, “My neighbor has unique value too; there’s never been anybody in the whole world like my neighbor, and there never will be.” "If they could value that person—if they could love that person—in ways that we know that the Eternal loves us, then I would be very grateful." #misterrogers#wontyoubemyneighbor#movie#lessons#learning#beagoodneighbor#thesimplefaithofmisterrogers#book

My friend @trina_mcneilly has this saying that goes: “What feels like the end, is often the beginning.” All the praise hands for that one. 🙌🏼 It’s gotten me through many heart aches that were a result of big change. I mourned the loss of neighbors we loved and the comfort of home for a long time, leading up to our move. I had tunnel vision regarding the move. I was overwhelmed with excitement over the house, but pained with sadness over missing my people.
But, I carried on. And our new neighbors are a perfect kind of wonderful. They are that “grandma/ grandpa” neighbor that most people long for. In fact, Cora lovingly refers to them as “that grandma and grandpa” 😜 They sent each girl the most thoughtful card in the mail ((with a stamp, even though they live next door☺️)) We have been welcomed with arms open so wide, by so many neighbors, I didn’t even know what I was in for. I miss my people at the old house. But they’re still there. And our roots go deep. What felt like the end, was truly a beginning. I found the silver lining. Whatever your end is, I’m here to report that there is a beautiful beginning on the other side. #beagoodneighbor#theendisabeginning

This matters to me. If you are reading this, then you know at least one person who depends on medicaid/medicare to survive. Not because I want to, but because my #chronicillness leaves me unable to work, and I need medical care. You might lose your job and need medical care someday, too. Wouldn't it be nice if the program you and I have both paid into was still there when your family needed it, too? #beagoodneighbor#oldpeoplematter#disabledpeoplematter#weallsinkorswimtogether

I've been listening to an Audiobook about Fred Rogers and his simple spiritual philosophies on life that can inspire people of all ages, regardless of your religion or spiritual practices.
What a wise man.
We certainly need a Mister Rogers in our society today.
Someone that only sees the good in everyone and understands that everyone has a story and their stories have the power to connect us.
That kindness is the key to ultimate success.
Someone that can speak to children in a way that let's them know that their feelings matter. That there will be difficulties they may face in their young lives that require us as adults to make sure they feel loved and accepted.
He says that in all the negativity and tragedies in this world, we must open our eyes and search for the helpers. Those are the real heroes. The ones committed to helping others. Those that see a need and respond. 💖
I think if we all focused on helping more, starting within ourselves, the world could be a better place right away. We could become our own heroes...isn't that a cool thought? 💕
As I left this morning for work, I once again thought how blessed I am. 🤔That good looking yard you see is all thanks to my 70+ neighbor. 💕He works extra to pull my weeds, covers mowing sometimes at the drop of a hat, and burns brush. He takes what I can afford and doesn’t ask for more. He’d do it for nothing and still be happy to do it! He’s such a huge blessing to me! Makes managing it all as a single so much easier!
The new layout of our website is easy to use for everyone, continuing our mission to provide transportation assistance to a variety of populations and for a multitude of service needs. Check it out in the link in our profile description.

A picture that's golden to us. This past week marked exactly one year since the idea of TGN was first discussed, while on vacation in Michigan. Such a treasured feeling to be wearing our apparel where it was first conceptualized! 💚 Not much longer & we will be sharing it all with you guys! #thegoodneighb
We just want to take a minute to thank everyone for their encouraging words & support! We have been wowed by the amazing response TGN has received. We are working on getting the official launch ready at this very moment & hope to have more on that soon! Keep watching for updates! #thegoodneighb
You see the two people in this picture? Well they never imagined they would actually be here. Sure they dreamed of it, but never thought it would become a reality. And no, I'm not talking about sitting on the beach in Oak Island. I mean they never thought they would own an apparel company with hopes to impact the world. And to be honest, it's surreal. In the beginning, it seemed like an irrational and bizarre idea. But the initial tugging at my heart was enough for me to somewhat jokingly mention it to my brother-in-law, Max, while on our family vacation. Max is very business oriented and I knew if nothing else, he would at least be able to give me some sound advice. Well, he was able to hold his excitement for all of about one day before telling me he wanted on board. At this point, it was still just a far-fetched idea though. For months, Max heavily encouraged me to get things rolling and despite the fact God was clearly laying this on my heart, I chose to drag my feet. I tried telling God we were too small for this plan instead of letting Him remind us of how big He is. Eventually it became consuming and I surrendered. From that point on, Max and I have actively pursued this calling and followed God's leading the best we can. It hasn't been easy and has most certainly been a learning experience for the two of us, but we know without a doubt The Good Neighbor is His will. We are humbled and grateful to be chosen for this opportunity and we can't wait to share what God has put on our hearts and watch to see how TGN impacts the world! #thegoodneighb
