The dancer pose is known as Shiva Natarajasana, who is the Lord of the dance, bringing joy to the World.
Shiva is known as the God of transformation as well, and appears in many forms. The dancer form represents the dance of life, or the dance of bliss.
This asana is an interesting one as it can be practice either gently, intensely and/or creatively. Just like life, in the end 🌸
S H I F T F O C U S
Change can be tough for a lot of people. I, however, love change. I think it’s because I grew up in a constantly changing environment, so I get restless when things are too routine. .
I am in routine right now, so I have decided that instead of changing things (because that can be stressful and disastrous if not done gracefully 😂), I will shift my focus instead. .
It’s time to pour energy into what I love and value. For me, that a healthy body, challenged mind, and projection of kindness. And for the last year all three of these things have been difficult to work on. .
I have routine in my life in the form of work, grad school, and teaching, and within that routine I truly believe I am set up perfectly for the focus I wish to evolve. Some sort of stability amidst chaos is good, right? 🤷♀️

A little late! #summerheatyogis Day 6 in my forward fold of choice. This forward fold is one of the most challenging ones for me. Can you feel a slight awkwardness emanating from the picture? 😂 yeah me too. Forward folds have humbled me. They have taught me how to laugh at myself, how to accept that I am imperfectly perfect, and have something to accept about myself. In accepting all of me, and loving the things that are hard to love about myself, I can slowly begin to set the tone for unconditional love. Unconditional love for me, my body, my loved ones and my life. What can you learn to love unconditionally today?
#YogaMakesMeFeel#Playful . I love practicing my handstands, especially close to the water where I can sink into the sand. But it’s easy to get frustrated when it comes to something so challenging (at least, for me it is).
This weekend, right after this video stopped, a man and his dog came up to say hello. The first thing he said was, “My wife is a yoga teacher. I know what you’re trying to do. It’s really hard.” YEAH, stranger! It IS! We chatted for a few minutes about how his wife teaches cooking, dance, and yoga to kids at @happyheartcorner in Northfield, NJ. I got to hang with his sweet terrier pup, and we went our separate ways.
THIS is what I love about this community. People aren’t afraid to come up to you and tell you you’re doing a good job, or acknowledge the work you’re putting into something. When I first started practicing, I couldn’t get into #crow or #headstand or hold myself in a #handstand for the life of me. But because of practice, I can do those things now. I will always play until I can’t anymore.
Our conversation on the beach reminded me of how grateful I am to have everyone in this overwhelmingly supportive community. THANK YOU for always encouraging me keep playing. And to anyone else who might be reading this: taking 5 minutes out of your day can really brighten someone else’s week. #AlwaysBeKind

Day 7 of #ShapelyMotion is #Inverted#Flow . I did it in #tripodheadstand joined by my dear husband #AtTheBeach . I woke up with flu-like symptoms and headed to the beach for some saltine air and warm sunlight. I wasn’t sure about inverting today, but when I asked my hubby to join me and he said yes, I couldn’t miss the opportunity. ☺️💕

Yo...this was first time in years that I taught 10 yoga classes in a wk. It’s my limit, I refuse to teach more than that because it’s honestly more than I can handle. But truth be told, I love getting back at it and it’s an opportunity to meet more ppl and the community here in Telluride. Yoga is service (seva) and I feel grateful AF to share what I’m passionate about: life balance. We learn about balance through vidya, knowing thy self. When we get caught up in the grind or just life, we lose our connection with this concept...don’t get caught a samsara (repetitive cycle)...do yoga instead. Doesn’t matter the style, the teacher, the studio/gym. Instead stay open, receptive and love the shit outta it. See dat good ❤️❤️. Plus it will teach ya how to breathe, become strong, flexible..and it will tone dat ass! If u think u can’t do yoga, it’s a lie. If u think it’s not for u...it’s a story. Rewrite it, don’t fight it #namaste
