Bamboo toothbrush from the Humble Co. with nylon 6 bristles
For nearly 1 year you can buy a bamboo toothbrush now at a german drugstore called DM. For 3.95€ you can choose between 5 different bristle colours (yellow, white, blue, pink or black). They are made out of BPA free Nylon 6, that means they are NOT biodegradable. (As i know there is no vegan, biodegradable material for that on the market, which could decompose in natural conditions)
The handle is made out of 100% biological and biodegradable bamboo. Also the packaging is just paper and can be recycled. 🌏
The Humble Co. is a Swedish company in Lund and sells different health and wellness products, which they declare as eco-friendly and socially responsible. They created the "Humble Smile Foundation" and childreb with no dental health access. For every toothbrush you buy, they donate one for a child in need. Furthermore they provide tooth paste, dental professionals and education. Their projects are currently in India, Ethiopia, Nepal, Cuba, South Africa, Cameroon and some other countries. 🗺
My personal opinion about this toothbrush is very positive. The bristles are medium hard and not too soft. The bamboo is smooth and doesn't' hurt in the mouth, even when it's dry (had that problem with other toothbrushes). I would really recommend it, even if i think it is kind of expensive. The time will show how durable the bristles are, since I am a bristle destroyer 🤗 (I am working on that)
I was so inspired after our visit to my Mom's new place in Vero Beach, FL to do a better job of protecting the beaches in the place I love. We witnessed a turtle laying and burying her eggs, which was a surreal stroke of luck. We found out that only 1 out of 1000 turtle eggs actually makes it to become an adult turtle, and I couldn't stop thinking about what a travesty it would be if one of those 1 in 1000 turtles choked to death on a plastic bag that they mistook for a jelly fish.
Now that we're back home, we did our first beach clean up with Heal The Bay and worked on one of the dirtiest beaches in the world, Venice Beach! It was actually a great way to spend the morning outside, get a workout from all those squats, and feel really accomplished on a weekend. The 3rd picture is of the lovely stretch of land Patrick and I covered which is now trash free!!😄😄 This is only step one, more to come and I encourage anyone who's thinking of it to join a beach or park clean up or just bring a glove and a bag with you when you go on walks and make your neighborhood a better place! .
I stop using toothpaste since a year ago. Instead i use lemon and salt to help me take care of my teeth.
I found this #beachlitter#plasticlitter toothpaste tube when i do #beachcleaning#beachcleanup#beachcleanups at #ambon#ambonmanise beaches. I do not think this product is really important to be produced. We can use salt to brush our teeth just like the human ancestors in #indonesia#nusantara did 😁
I love #motherearth
Saya stop pakai pasta odol gigi sejak setahun lalu.
Did you know that we're doing a beach clean-up on July 5th?⠀
Every July 4th many of us gather on the beach to connect with family & friends to celebrate our nations freedom. At the end of the evening no one intends to leave anything behind, but in reality and in the light of the following day, the beach is littered with the remnants of the celebration. We would like to gather our community to clean-up the beach.⠀
We will be meeting on the Pier in Deerfield Beach, Wednesday July 5th at 7:45am. We will hand out gloves and bags and if you have buckets and grabbers of your own, please bring them! At 9:00am Leslie Glickman will lead us in a morning meditation. Then we will head to @oceans_234 for refreshments as a thank you for your help.⠀
Looking forward to coming together and doing something great for our community! See you then! Please pre-register so we know you're coming: bit.ly/2JPbxRF⠀
Sadly, we found more than one of these little baggies on the beach yesterday along with a whole bag of trash, both washed up and left behind from visitors.
We need to stop trying and actually start doing. Please be mindful with your garbage. Here we are, in a part of the world where we have access to one of the largest bodies of fresh water, and there is f%cking garbage everywhere. The beach isn’t going to stay beautiful and the waters aren’t going stay clear, clean, and safe if you treat it like a landfill. Pick up after yourself. It’s 2018..... didn’t you guys watch #CaptainPlanet when you were younger!? We should all know by now it is absolutely unacceptable to litter.
Also.. I get that some people like to party... whatever, it’s not my business.... but keep your party bags off the beach... please don’t leave them behind. My kid plays here.
OmMade Organic Skincare will be at our weekly 9am -3pm Saturday Market and then staying for the Plant Based @plant4bowden Vegan Event with our vegan range of handmade, natural skincare 🌱 FREE biodegradable bamboo dental floss with EVERY purchase on the 23/6/18! Day or night x
Absolutely thrilled to be featured in the latest @cliquemagau // Thank you for showcasing Adelaide small business. You did a wonderful job of capturing the essence of OmMade Organic Skincare 🙏 #cliquemagau

Loving this reminder from @thebeachco_op this Monday 🖤 we look forward to working with their team next Sunday 1st July for the first official #mouillepointbeach clean up / please save the date and come on down to join us and @kaskazikayaks as we kickstart off the #atlanticseaboard#beachcleans - as it’s our home beach we are very stoked to be involved both on behalf of the community and also for that pod of resident #dolphins whom we often watch outside our window frocking in the #waves . This is also the place where we used to cruise past on #yachtclubexperience events - so great to be able to give back a little again. Did you know #thebeachcoop collects data forms from each of these events which gets given to a team of #researchers at @uct who track where the waste is coming from and which companies and objects are the most common. It’s starts here. #oceanlove#beachcleanup#breatheintowinter#startonhomeground#capetown#bellolifestyle#Repost @thebeachco_op with @get_repost

Blessed for this experience,
As each of us picked up a piece of trash my heart grew bigger and bigger,
Mother Earth is our home let us nurture as she nurtures us! 🌎
So much love for you all,
This will be a continuous Sunday ritual! ❤️
Saving the ocean one Eco-brick at the time
What's an ecobrick?
An eco brick is pretty much a plastic bottle stuffed with plastic we collect from the sea, our plan is to use the eco bricks to build something to raise awareness. Stay curious about our project!
Small cleanup on #fortmyersbeach .
Microplastic is the worst kind of plastic and is easily consumed by ocean life. This small plastic can eventually make it back to your plate at dinner. Make a difference with #onepieceaday
Fishermen, please keep hold of your tackle! There was a fisherman standing about a metre from this tangle. Said he hadn’t noticed it. Makes me mad. These (mostly) guys would claim to love nature and the environment but do nothing about while they stand there gazing out to sea... #beachcleanup#beachclean#ocean#plastic#fishing#fishingline#beach
Stumbled upon this unfortunate scene the other day. Fortunately these people also left behind an empty grocery bag that I could use in the cleanup. What didn’t fit in the plastic bag I was able to fit inside the pizza box. Garbage can was located only 20 ft away. 🤨
Was having a conversation with someone who paddles and fishes regularly and who said- “plastic bottles just take a few years to degrade. They are not the real priority to remove from the sea, plastic bags are more important because they get stuck on the ocean bed. Anyway posting on social media about cleaning the beach is just for show, so many of these things going round...doesn’t really make a difference.” My usual reaction is to get angry or start ranting but I’m just going to leave this here. If I remove just 1 plastic bottle from the sea that’s 1 item that will not take 450 years to slowly decompose and kill something in the process. Imagine if every human being picked one piece of plastic from the sea this very minute. We would have 6 billion pieces removed in 1 minute. Why waste energy on being defeatist when we can make a difference! #dontgetangrygetactive#makeithappenmonday#oceancleanup#beachcleanup#saveourseas
More than 300 million tons of new plastic is produced annually and less than 10% is recycled. And much of the plastic dropped in recycling bins isn’t even recycled.
Where do most of the plastics go? Either in the landfill, or in the ocean where it can harm marine life.
There are 8 million tons of plastic that enter our oceans every year (one truck of plastic dump into the ocean every minute). Once in the water, plastics break up into tiny pieces through wave and sunlight, and these microplastics attract persistent organic pollutants linked to human health problems—even cancer. And because microplastics are tiny, they are difficult to remove and could be easily ingested by fish that could end up onto your plate.
What can you do? Refuse single use plastics like plastic bags, plastic straws, plastic bottles, plastic cutlery, plastic and styrofoam cups.
Let's start this week off right! 🌊🌊🌊🌊Simply buy either our Four(4) Stainless Steel Straws or our 20oz Double Insulated Tumbler with Lid & Straw, and we will throw in a straw brush cleaner! Easy peasy lemon squeezie🍋🍋🍋🍋. The Ocean will thank you😎

Week 39 : Thank you to the BMC for their support and additional resources this weekend! 30 tonnes of waste (3 truckloads) was removed from the beach.
Still a lot more needs to be cleaned as the sea brings fresh garbage everyday. There is so much we can achieve if we all work together. Let’s make a commitment to keep our public places and our environment clean just like our homes. This is our beach, our ocean, our city!
Reduce | Reuse | Recycle
Kalk Bay beach cleanup this morning with the lovely Sandra from Switzerland.
Thank you @saltkalkbay and @chartfieldguesthouse for organizing. 🔷
Straws are an unnecessary evil. If you have to have one choose a paper straw or better invest in a glass straw. 🔷
Collecting rubbish on the beach feels good and it makes a little difference but we can make a HUGE difference to our environment if we go vegan. 🔷
Avoiding meat and dairy is SINGLE BIGGEST WAY to reduce your impact on Earth💚
YOU can make a difference✊🌱

A @5minutebeachcleanup in The #Maldives . Such a beautiful beautiful heaven 😱 & the healthiest waters I have ever seen. It was hard and incredibly annoying to see the amount of trash just discarded here and there 😭 It was overwhelming to see such beautiful colours & creatures in The Maldavian waters but at the same time I can't help but worry about how long it will last until #climatechange & plastic waste take over if we don't do something about it... Today... Right now! I've made changes to the consumption of plastic usage in my day to day life. What about you? ⚡️Here's some easy switches you can do to be a part of the revolution of going plastic-free to save #earth
1) STOP BUYING PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES. Carry your own. Don't be lazy or have some bs excuse. Highly recommend a stainless steel bottle as it is durable, keeps water cold for 24 hours & hot for 12 hours. 🍼
2) BRING YOUR OWN BAGS. Just put your groceries or anything you buy into reusable shopping bags. These days you can find those that are lightweight and can be folded to fit in your pocket. 🛍
3) SAY NO TO STRAWS. Do you really need one to drink? If you do, get a stainless Steel straw! Its durable and it'll last you for years! 💪🏽
4) SHOP AT THE FARMERS MARKET. Why? It's fresh, it's not gone through the factory process, it's not wrapped in unnecessary plastic, it supports the local farmers 🐮
