Wednesday sweat sesh ✔️💦👊🏼 This morning’s workout was a quick one as I’m at a conference this morning so needed to get into the city earlier. But this week’s challenge (300 rep arm burner 💪🏼🔥) & a skipping hiit were the perfect combo 👌🏼 The challenge was amazing but my god there was so much burn 😳 I used my heavy weights for pretty much everything & man I am going to be sore tomorrow 😭 & my hiit was exactly what I needed. Skipping is the best heart pumper ever 💦❣️💦.

I am feeling better since my plateau shittyness earlier in the week. I honestly know that I’m doing all the right things. I am moving my body & eating well. I don’t need to be so hard on myself. I am thinking of some new things to shake shit up so stay tuned on if I actually take the plunge 😂 but I am feeling ok! Even better than ok was my run yesterday! 🙌🏼 I spoke about it on my stories, but yesterday I ran for 17 minutes with a 1 minute walk x 3. This run was exactly the run I was doing before leaving for my honeymoon in June. When I got home I back tracked 6 weeks on my training app (10K trainer by C25K) because my fitness definitely dropped 🔙🔙🔙 But to be back where I was is the most amazing #nonscalevictory ever ✨👊🏼❤️ .

So instead of thinking of the weight that hasn’t dropped like I wanted, im thinking of the routine that I have gotten back, the determination to do it all repeatedly despite shitty results or headspace & the fitness I am getting back after a 10 week break 🎉🎉🎉 Happy hump day babes 😘

Our complex is conducting an annual testing of fire alarm systems, in accordance with the LAFD, throughout the building and all units. This means that incredibly loud fire alarm noises are going off 9am-5pm for two days. I can hear dogs from neighboring units barking, howling and crying in distress. As a fellow pet parent, it upsets me a great deal to see pets left at home without enough thought or care during these times.

Humans can hear roughly up to 20 kHz while dogs can hear up to about 40-60 kHz. Not only can dogs hear up to higher frequencies, they can hear sounds from four times the distance than us. While I know less about cats, they can hear just as well if not even better than dogs.

These annual or semi-annual testing of fire alarm systems occur after residents are given notices 24 to 72 hours ahead of time. This gives pet parents enough time to plan as needed. Arrange for a dog walker, arrange to drop off your pets at daycare, or arrange whatever means available to you. But do not subject these poor creatures to torture. Would you sit through 8 hours of ongoing fire alarm noises? Sure as hell not! Then why must your pets suffer the consequences of your neglect?

It is sooo easy to look at life with the glass half empty. To go through each day wondering why bad things happen to yourself and to others. I remember in the worst of my illnesses, thinking that everything in my life was terrible but somehow I managed to hold on to that tiny spark of hope that maybe things could get better. On my few good days, I filled my heart with so much gratitude for what I was able to do that I usually couldn’t accomplish  because of my pain or fatigue. That gratitude would completely change my whole day around! As I began to heal with food and dietary changes, I was still getting frustrated that I wasn’t progressing more with my healing protocol. Every time I would get frustrated, it’s like my healing would stall. Then, a few months ago, I decided that there is much more to healing than just the physical... your mindset towards healing is equally as important. I decided to dive head first into a healing mentality and adopted daily routines of breath-work, working on limiting beliefs surrounding my recovery, and practicing gratitude every single day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s safe to say that this daily practice has CHANGED my life forever! When you learn to be grateful for what you have and where you are in life, amazing things start to happen for you! You can’t truly have more of something until you learn to be grateful for what you already have! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong, there are still days when I struggle with this. Particularly when it comes to my body. I had to give up all working out and have only recently been able to get back into it and was so frustrated with where my body was at but now I’m learning to love my body as it is every single day. I can’t even believe the fact that I used to look at my body with so much hatred because of the tiniest little “flaws.” After getting sick and suffering with chronic pain and fatigue, now I wake up every morning just so unbelievably grateful that my body can even do the things that I once had to stop doing! woke up this morning feeling even more sick 🤧 maybe i shouldn’t have ran but i thought it would be fine cause my symptoms felt like they were all above the neck & bc i hate tuesdays and need something to get me through. grateful that the run happened at all, but feeling a little meh about the splits and avg pace - leg pain has not gone away & i guess i’m sick too now (still telling myself i’m not!!) & i haven’t been sleeping well so i shouldn’t feel super bad?? today was a 9:19 avg which should be a comfortable pace for me but i’ve done this same route at faster than an 8:20 avg and doubled the distance and still had it feel like i could’ve gone faster & that was a couple months ago when i was slower and didn’t have as much running experience 😕 it’s ok kimi - don’t beat yourself up. don’t let the numbers get to you

a highlight: wtf this new watch gives so much data. i’ve only done 3 runs and a few spin classes w it but based off of that i have vo2 max of 49 which falls under top 10% for my age and gender?? lmao aye this coming from the girl who couldn’t even run an entire lap around a track

Taco salads are my go to lunch because they are super versatile 😛 this one has a base of spinach 🌱, brown rice, salsa, @sabra guacamole, and grilled chicken 🙌🏻 pairs really well with @sietefoods chips too 💕 Taking today one step at a time because I have a big to-do list! Good morning! I just wanted to show some appreciation and gratitude for this community. I’ve shared some things over the past few days and have only been given support and love. I shared a newly discovered gluten intolerance, not for sympathy, but to help others get to thinking in case they were experiencing the same and didn’t know it. I got so much support for it! And sharing my boundaries last night was something I debated but I just knew at least one person would benefit, and I got so many messages praising my decision and outpouring love. Thank you all so much 💙💙💙 I guess they say “Bbg sisters” for a reason! You guys are all so special to me 💖

Mornings with Apple cinnamon raisin overnight oats are my favorite mornings 🍂🍎 I just make the oatmeal overnight in my @healthyhumanlife mini tumblr. In the morning I add the toppings and start my day 😊 Here’s how I make it: I took 1/2 cup of rolled oats, 1/2 cup of @califiafarms almond milk, 1/2 an Apple, raisins, and cinnamon then soaked them all together overnight. This morning I put the oats in a tumblr, microwaved them for 1 minute and then for 30 seconds, then I added @earthbalance peanut butter, more apple slices, and more raisins! Happy Tuesday! When I first started lifting I didn't get why noone told me how much weight to start with. I stressed out that I was either lifting too little or failing w too much and therefore not getting optimum results. So I looked around the room to see what others were doing, or tried to figure out what girls were benching on insta. 🤦🏼‍♀
First off, doesn't matter someone else lifts. You don't know what type of training they're doing, you don't know what kind of day they're having and who the f*ck cares? You are lifting for YOUR BODY. Nobody else's.
So you might have a day where you feel weaker, you may have days where you are challenging yourself more, the point is only you can gauge what you're capable of... And sometimes you'll need someone that says, you can do more. Cuz come on, we're creatures of comfort and grrrrreat at persuading ourselves what we can't do more than what we can do.

So, first and foremost, technique is number one. You don't have that right, then you're gonna work the wrong muscle and just waste your time, not get a result and then you'll give up with the excuse "it doesn't work for me". Boring. 
Two: pick up a weight, if your last set felt too light and you went at the same pace throughout, you need to go heavier.
Three:continue this til your form starts to break. The weight you used before this is your starting weight.
Four:once you lift more, you'll start doing progressive overloads. Ie gradually increasing the stress on your body during training.
Cuz remember, you keep lifting the same weight, your body will adapt and you ain't burning sh*t. Cuz Goddamnit! our bodies are suuuuuper efficient!
Lastly, if you fail on a last set, ie didn't complete a rep or form broke down, go back to the last weight. Trust me, you will eventually level up. Ciara told us so. 😎
And super lastly, People usually write their weights down, but I don't.  I found listening to my body gave me better indications of what I was capable of doing and thereby better results.
