So much calm and so much serenity in this moment of hustle, life and changes. ⠀
I’ve been on a little hiatus during these last few days trying to keep up with a full August plus taking care of my mama. ⠀
I can’t say I have it all together or that I don’t cry out of stress once in a while, but I’m relying on the One ☝🏽who does keeps it all together for me. ⠀
Fusing my energy and leaving it all on each endeavor has been the best outlet. In doing so I’ve been embracing each door that closes as well as the ones that open to new possibilities... #growingpains ⠀
Turning in wedding photos is bittersweet. I’m so excited you get to have your images but so sad because it means my time with you has ended. Anniversary sessions feel like a mini-reunion! I love reconnecting with my couples and getting to spend time with them again.
keep 👏🏻 stepping 👏🏻 happy almost-Friday folks! I’m raving about the launch of an exciting new product in my stories today, and I couldn’t be more proud of my husband and the work he’s put in to get to this day! It’s so easy for me to cheerlead such a passionate and innovative product. Michael and I have been together for over eight years now, and I’ve never seen him feel so fulfilled and happy before. I’m crazy grateful we both get to chase our dreams in this city that we love. This image is from a recent passion project of my very own, in collaboration with @spreadinglovely and @laurasfloras. We started this color party as a dream vision, and then brought it to wine country. It was amazing seeing Morgan’s inspiration board come to life! Sometimes, it really does feel like San Francisco is the city of dreams, but I *know* it’s actually all about the people you choose to work with and share your goals with. With the right people, this kind of magic can happen anywhere. ✨

Here's a pretty picture of Thailand. It's a little break from the wedding and engagement sessions I post. I've taken a break from posting a lot on social media. It's exhausting feeling like you need to constantly being updated. I feel like an old man when I start reminiscing about the good old days. You know pre-social media and not having the desire to constantly be connected to the internet.
I am going to take a moment and brag about my husband. He stayed up late last night installing all the new lights for the house, got up with our son at 5:30 this morning and woke me up with a cup of coffee in hand for me. This man really, REALLY does go beyond and above for his family and I swear I somehow love him more every single day.
Side note: My husband is not a bring flowers kind of guy, but he is the kind that is romantic by doing small acts of love like this. My recommendation, find that kind of guy. ❤️
I think by far one of the coolest things is to tell someone your vision and watch it come to life. When I called @cerasingleyevents up one day to tell her about my crazy idea, never in a million years did I think that every inch of it and more would come to fruition. But it did. She created this suspending branch with 13 light bulbs hanging from it, because Sarah Winchester was obsessed with the number 13. Her design execution was spot on. And the whole day was a dream come true for me. //

I only love my bed and my mom, I’m sorry // Not that I wish this on anyone, but wouldn’t that be a pretty epic way to leave someone at the altar? Wait, is this not on brand for a wedding photographer? 😛⚡️🤟🏼 #kimheathphotography

Seriously.... this! This right here is what it’s all about for me... Do you see those freaking smiles?!?! Those laughs?!?! That feeling you get when you see a couple REALLY REALLY in love! Meet Monica and Brian y’all... it is couples like this that restore my faith in true and unconditional love and make me believe in that gut wrenching, uncontrollable, high as a kite, everlasting love. The kind of love that makes you feel like you can achieve anything as long as they’re by your side. The kind of love that keeps you up at night only so that you can lay by their side to watch them sleep. The kind of love that draws you in and paralyzes you with dreams of a future together... old and wrinkly, holding hands, shoulder to shoulder for an eternity... This is what love looks like... this is what love should be... this is LOVE ❤️👩🏻💕🧔🏻❤️
I would like a redo for this amazing day! @yayforcake @threepalmevents and the amazing @tinandtwine created such a picturesque wedding! I can’t wait to share more! But for now, it’s going to stay behind closed doors 😉

One of my visions I was looking forward to capturing for @quissy and @chouy68 engagement session in Maui was to capture them seaside with the sun setting behind them with Christina’s dress flowing with the wind. I know she put so much thought into making her dress one of a kind and I wanted to do her dress justice by showcasing it in this image. I’m thrilled that we were able to nail this shot even though we had wardrobe complications, crazy winds, and working against the dimming light, but was all worth it at the end! Such a highlight of this trip so far. ☺️ // Hair + makeup: @quissy Dress: @adriannapapell Tiara: @twigsandhoneyofficial Earrings: @katespadeny Belt: @bhldn Styling: @madlybride Photo: @jasmineleephoto #jlpxquis#maui#hawaii#engagementsession
Life is full of ups and downs, and some are strange and unexpected. For those of you that don’t know, I’ve had pretty severe anxiety my entire life. It’s not the type of anxiety everyone assumes. I don’t usually get anxious about public speaking, flying in planes, or taking tests. My anxiety is irrational and comes out of nowhere, mostly when it’s supposed to be something fun. Growing up, I missed countless school trips to Disneyland and other fun places. As an adult, panic rears itself with things I’m really looking forward to - like vacations and photographing events. I wish it wasn’t this way, but, it’s the thorn in my side, the battle I’ve been given to fight. And, I’m definitely fighting it.
My anxiety has been particularly bad lately. I’m trying to be proactive in managing it and trying to make lifestyle changes. I’m the type of person who always needs to be doing something...I have a hard time just sitting still. But, I’ve definitely been trying to be still. To be still in the Lord. To enjoy those around me. To take life a little slower. And, with this, I just haven’t felt like scrolling through Instagram. It’s been refreshing. But, that’s where I’ve been.
All of my couples come from many different walks in life. Meet Mikh and Jess. I’ve known these two since high school and ever since then they have been together. True “HS Sweethearts”. I just want to congratulate my guy @m_mckinney10 as he will be continuing to follow his dreams and play ball overseas. Congrats to the kid and I wish you many more years of good health and success! Also much love to your wifey @jflo_mckinney for holding down your mans and always supporting him!#ballislife#bayareaweddingphotographer#bayareaweddings#highschoolsweethearts#loveandbasketball
So Daniel + Aly’s story is quite special to me when it comes to couple’s that I had the chance to photograph, and today I’m going to be letting you in on a little secret, I’ve been secretly rooting for these two since they first met! 👍🏻💕
Daniel is a fitness trainer 💪🏻 🏋️♂️and was coaching at the gym where I just so happened to work as the front desk associate. When Aly started coming to the gym and I started to get to know her, I knew instantly the two of them would get along well! 😆😍 Aly is the sweetest woman with a stunning smile, and she attracts people to her like a bee to honey. 🐝🍯 So it wasn’t long before she had a group of gym friends who all hung out together in real life, and it wasn’t too long after that, that I started to see pictures go up with Daniel hanging with Aly, her sisters, and her family. ❤️ I changed gym locations and then jobs not too long after that, so I unfortunately no longer had a front row seat to their love, but you best believe I was still rooting for these two via Facebook!
When these two officially announced their engagement, I was so excited that these two incredible individuals had not only found love, but found a partner in life and a best friend in each other! 👫💍 So when they reached out and told me that they were so excited to get married, that they didn’t want to wait a year for their planned wedding, and they wanted to do it in two weeks at SF City Hall, I was over the moon excited to get to document their special day! 📷
Their wedding ceremony was short, sweet, and surrounded by loved ones. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around the marble halls and grand ceilings and documenting their beautiful love for one another, and they ended the night by celebrating at home with friends, family, and tacos. 🥂
Double tap if you’d have tacos for your wedding dinner! 🌮 👰🤵
It’s pure joy to see our favorite film photographers get recognized by Harper’s Bazaar this week as some of the best wedding photographers in the world!! 🎞📸

HONEYMOONIN // Recommendation #1 : Disconnect on your honeymoon. Recommendation #2 : Schedule a fun photo session to cuddle and explore! Did you get any photos done on your honeymoon? I think it should be a staple from now on!! 💕These two cuties on the blog now! 🤞🏻
Photography for me has helped me to appreciate the simple joys of each fleeting moment.
Sure, not every click of the shutter is worth preserving, and it sure does feel like digital overwhelm these days.
There is definitely an art and a skill to capturing all the angles seamlessly and at the same time knowing when to put the camera down and connect on a more human level.
It takes time and is an ongoing experience but I sure love learning every single day - forever.
For this #weddingtipwednesday , I want to talk about something that almost all my brides ask about: second shooters!
Should you have one? What's the benefit of having a second shooter? Here's the deal: second shooters allow me to be in two places at once. If you're interested in having getting ready photos of both the ladies and the men, it's great to have one of us with each group, especially if your getting ready locations are far apart. The second time when a second shooter comes in handy is the ceremony! You know those great photos of the groom's reaction? I love having a second shooter so one of us can capture this amazing moment while the other is photographing the bride coming down the aisle. If you want to hear more of my thoughts on second shooters, send me a message!
Remember to tag your engaged friends! Also, if you have any questions, please leave them below! I'll cover them in the weeks to come 😄
