Adding a stretch band around the thighs in foldover gives extra resistance to the glute and hamstring muscles. Make sure you press against the stretch band as you lift up and continue to press against the band as you lower back down, this will ensure we engage through the glutes/hamstrings throughout the whole exercise, using control and strength for smoother movements 🤗 ❤️ Jasmina x

This is one of those quick (and dirty!) moves a barretender loves to throw in at the end of class. Why? It’s double sided. There are 3 different foot position options (parallel, 1st and 2nd). There are also unlimited combinations and possibilities — élevé/flat, inches, half élevé, pulses, single counts, double counts... Plus. It’s working your entire body, from core to seat and thighs, calf raises are no joke!

Barre works WONDERS for my arms. Want to know why? I focus on the good old fashion push up. I went from little chicken wings to tone and strength quickly once I decided to master the push up. So here are some tips to think about:
Photos demonstrate the difference between tricep push ups and traditional ones.
Traditional push ups have the hands wider than your shoulders and your elbows go out to the side and slightly back (think 4 and 8 o’clock) targeting the chest, triceps, deltoids and your core.
Tricep push ups start with the hands closer together, with hands right under your shoulders and the elbows shoot straight back (think 6 o’clock). Here you should feel your arms graze your rib cage, hugging them in tight. This works the same muscles as the traditional but puts more focus on the back of your arms.😍
In both variations, pull your bellybutton in and think of pressing up through the space between your shoulders to flatten your back and strengthen your core.
If push ups feel intimidating, try them at the barre. You can do all the same variations and gradually work towards doing them on the floor.
The key to muscle strength and tone is form. Focus more on doing the exercise right even if that means less reps!
