Trust me I know how hard it is to slow down training hard. Losing that rush can be discouraging. But an injury left unchecked and uncared for can turn catastrophic down the line. Even the smallest of ones...you need to have courage to tell yourself it’s time to rest. You may be out for a bit but it’s better than being out way longer down the line. Longevity is the goal people. Do your body a favor and mend those training wounds.

Opener and second both moved very well. Chose a very low deadlift opener to make sure I had it no problem in the event of a back cramp off of bench. Pulled 381 to secure a 430 kg total (948 lbs) which is precisely what I needed to qualify for college nationals. So stoked that after 2 years I can finally go! 9/9 meet with a 52.5 kg PR total (118 lbs).

Opener flew, faster than ever before, so we decided to make a big jump for my second. In hindsight 5kg is probably the biggest jump I should be making on bench given my current strength level because my second attempt was significantly harder. A bunch of factors contributed to a less than stellar second but I knew I had more in the tank so we took 209 and got it.

❓ WHY
.
A great introductory pressing action, the Landmine offers an alternative for those who struggle to correctly perform a strict press due to injury, posture issues or mobility restrictions. .
We advise adopting the single arm Landline press first, so that both shoulders develop equal stability, ready to move onto more advanced actions.

🎓 HOW
.
1️⃣ Start by placing the end of a barbell into a landmine holster or by placing the end securely into a corner.
2️⃣Adopt a split stance, with the opposite leg to the arm you are lifting with forwards.
3️⃣Press the weight up with one arm, keeping it in line with your shoulder rather than moving it towards the middle of your body.
4️⃣Control the movement of the barbell as it you bring it back down to the start position.

⚖️ SETS/REPS & MORE
.
When considering muscle gain 4x12 (each arm) is optimal. .
Apply a weight plate to make sure the exercise is quite demanding by rep no.10 in each set. If you are confident that you will not lose form, perform the final set to failure in the tricep.

To work on power... Explode on the way up and slowly control the eccentric phase (the way down). 5x5 is a good set/rep range here. 🔥
.
To focus on the core, try this exercise kneeling on the floor or on a BOSU ball.

So I recently started incorporating powerlifting into my workout routine. Today, I hit a new PR of 275 x 1. This was my first time maxing out in about a year or so, so I’m pretty happy w/ that number. Hoping to be in the 300s by the end of January. 💪

💥WANT TO TARGET THOSE SHOULDERS... LANDMINE PRESS💥

The landmine press is a great pressing alternative. which for a lot of people, is a much safer option than directly pressing over head.
_
Since with the landmine press you’re not pressing directly OH, it’s a great starting point to introduce OH pressing shoulder movements.
_
Although you’re not directly pressing over head, it’s still a great exercise to build strength in those shoulders and upper body.
_
I always like to say get your base of support right. Half kneeling position, brace your core, chest down and squeeze your glutes. 
_
As always 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps is a good starting point. Start at the lower end and build your way up towards 3 sets of 12 before increasing the load. 
_
If you can’t press over head without arching your lower back, then start with the landmine press. ✅ DC

Cruising through 2 sets of 5 reps and a max-2 set of 7 reps tonight. Always love myself a good round of deadlifts! I had about 14 days off though after hurting my back - Turns out proper form is ALWAYS important, even when bending over to tie shoelaces 😂. I paid for it with strained, tense muscles and lower back pain for days. Not fun! This is so much better 💪🏻

Boy I can definitely tell when I haven’t been in the gym as much. 225 felt like 355 smh. I look like a twig too. First day of the new split and imma stick with this one for about 12 weeks and see how it goes.

Because strength and size are the goals right now, I kept these squats to 5x5. 225 was my top set for 2 sets. For the last one, I went back down to 185.

I’ll be squatting 2-3x a week. After this I hit bench press and some accessories to get that sexy look. Can’t wait to see the progress that’ll be made in the upcoming months. Gimme a few weeks and this will look like cake

Made a mid training grip change from full grip to thumbs over bar cause I just wanted to try it out once again and it felt SOOPA Gucci. I was able to flex my upper back much better but if you can see in my working sets, since I’m not used to it, my hips shot up quite a bit but ain’t nothang but a chicken wang cause I’ll work on it 💁🏻‍♂️. It doesn’t seem like it but honestly I could of squeezed in a 10lb PR but nah. Left my ego back and thought train smarter, not harder and for longevity. Back offs were at 375 3x5 @RPE 7.5/8 (first and last set). Felt better than it looked so that’s dope too.
