A much needed day to sit & relax at my Rice Homestay... and I mean I have literally just sat and looked out for an entire day. Bit of reading. Bit of chatting. The resident cat and dog saying hello 👋🏽 and of course the cats and dogs from above as it’s been raining 🌧 most the day... Will be an early night I think before starting a two-day trek tomorrow. 🙃
10 hours on a coach. Backseat gang. 2 pit stops and arrived in the Ifugao mountain provence... ready for a two-day trek to see Batad Rice Terraces. Bit tired, but got a day to relax, read and prepare my legs.
#Sagada has one of the #best and most #scenic#sunrises in this part of the world. If you're staying in #Poblacion or downtown Sagada, you just need to be up at 4 am and be prepared for two things: a thirty-minute ride to the drop-off point of #MarlboroHills and almost an hour of #trekking to the summit. (#Kiltepan , which is an alternative #hike , is presently closed to the public since portions thereof have been razed by fire in November. Kiltepan, though, as some locals opine, is visually subservient to Marlboro Hills.) Since the #climb takes place early in the morning and it's necessarily cold (especially in #December and the first quarter of the year), you have to bring a flashlight and something to keep you warm. Once you reach the top--and if you're #lucky --you'll be welcomed by a bonfire surrounded by ecstatic locals and co-hikers; a brilliant and vivid #seaofclouds ; and easily, the most #picturesque and #fulfilling#sunrise . And the #spectacle does not end there; you will be passing by the Sagada #BlueMountain and rows of #pinetrees during your descent. Sagada, without doubt, offers not only an optical and physical experience, but ultimately, a #spiritual#journey . (Tip: If you're used to #DIY trips, consider giving Sagada an exception, especially if it's your first time. Join an organized tour or be a #joiner in a group tour--which we did--and you'll be able to visit more #amazing places, like #Banaue and #Baguio with a limited budget, and meet #wonderful people, for sure!) #MountainProvince#Nature#RespiteDespite
