@pekingduk - “Reprisal”
Directed by @ryansauer
After committing to Amity Affliction earlier in the year, I was contacted to produce another completely unrelated project with a ridiculous amount of coincidental similarities:
- shooting in Ballarat, VIC
- a director named Ryan
- multi-song, linked story
- guns involved
- police characters
- older period piece
- the list goes on...
All within weeks of each other!
With only 2-3 weeks to thoroughly prepare, this was one of the most challenging projects I’ve taken on.
Whilst this photo was taken during the last scene of the first track “Fire”, it was actually the first to be filmed on that location.
Infact, a lot of what we shot was in reverse order, in order to cater towards location access times.
We arrived on location at Sovereign Hill early afternoon afternoon to stealthily load in; essentially we needed to film the clip from 9pm-9am to avoid being seen by visitors of the public, which proved to be a mighty challenge. The overnight schedule was sure to be ruthless. Particularly following our 2 hour drive from Warrnambool, after completing pickups that we shot beginning 7am the very same morning.
What you see here could be seen as the conclusive statement - a victorious release of energy in the form of justice once “wrap” was called, leading our bodies to exist in a shell of what they once were. Yet with our frame barely still standing, the Phoenix would rise from embers; giving form to a different perspective on this same piece of time. 📷: @ian.laidlaw
We had a fun day out @sovereignhill today. Lots of old fashioned sugary treats, learning about life in the 1850’s and seeing the amazing winter wonderlights display. Don’t be fooled by the panning for gold pic. 30 seconds after this pic was taken we had all 3 kids screaming and crying. The pans were too cold and the ground too dirty. Everyone calmed down eventually thankfully, including me 😜🤪🙄 #sovereignhill#winterwonderlights#christmasinjuly#homeeducation#history#ballarat#goldrush
Just visited Sovereine Hill in Ballarat.
It's an award winning tourist attraction with old buildings and customed ladies and gents. We can also see the professionals show us how people used to manufacture products hundred years ago. It feels like stepping back in time, and the experience was really amazing!

Have you thought about trying Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a specialised technique involving the use of fine filament acupuncture-type needles. These fine needles are very carefully and expertly inserted into muscle and other tissue requiring treatment.
Skilful assessment and application of dry needling can be a very powerful way to eliminate pain of muscular, and neuromuscular origin.

"I ran an electronics class in my backyard and a guy called Kevin came to me at the end of the class and showed me a device, like a little mouli mincer. This device eventually became the fine fuel moisture meter, which is still used by the Department of Environment today for prescribed burns and wildfires. It was manufactured here in Ballarat."
"I’m no Robinson Crusoe. I could name a dozen other people in the electronics area of similar age to myself who are doing interesting things. The thing about Ballarat is that we have the facilities."

It’s funny I remember when I was younger I used to be so fearless when playing dress ups. No care in the world and no knowledge of how you should and shouldn’t wear clothes.
But yet I noticed as we grow up we get safer and more careful with our fashion choices to make sure we fit in with what trends dictate.
But as the years went on I realised screw that I’m not following the rules anymore. I’m letting that little girl come out again and show me how to have fun with my style and play around with new things without a care in the world. I’m so glad she’s back because it’s soooo much fun and so liberating to not care what other people think! .
So if there’s any advice I can give you it’s stop thinking about dressing the way you “should” and start dressing the way you WANT TO! Wear double denim, match print with print, clash colours but just make sure you’re having fun and doing it for no one else but you!! When it comes to fashion I truely believe there are NO RULES!
So what do you guys think? Do you like to play around with your style or are you still unsure of how to push the boundaries? I’d love to know ❤️
It's Member of the Week time! 💕💫 Thank you Tara Mowat for sharing your journey with us. We love seeing you in the club and value you as a part of our Fernwood family.
What inspired you to start up at Fernwood?
"I needed to make some positive changes for health and wellbeing.
I thought Fernwood would be a good start. Having never stepped into a gym, the female only environment made me much more comfortable. I was hoping to become more active to get those happy hormones going, learn some relaxation techniques and tone up in a good social setting." What are your fave classes?
"Definitely Yoga with Katie for relaxation, Boxing, Lite Pace, TTT and Pilates with Tracey." What benefits have you seen?
"My body has changed shape, feel motivated, improved mood, and I sleep better." What challenge/goal are you working on at the moment?
"Would like to try some new virtual classes, lose weight and tone up. Might ask Katie to do a Podcast for my playlist." What advice would you give to anyone thinking about getting started?
"Firstly make an appointment with Chris, she's absolutely gorgeous and made me feel welcome to the Fernwood family.
Set small goals and go from there. Lite Pace with Tracey is a good first class to get an idea of the moves you do in other classes.
Get in a routine, put the active wear on first thing in the morning to motivate you to walk in that door of smiling faces, you won't look back." #memberoftheweek#inspiration#motivation#fitness#fitmum#fitnessmotivation#gym#womenshealth#fitspo#strongwomen#fernwoodtribe#fernwoodballarat#ballarat#ballaratgyms#ballaratfitness
