Benefits: 
Increases the flexibility of the lumber spine and the strength  of the deep abdominal muscles and arms,teaches Pilates breathing and warms the body to prepare for exercise.

How to move:
1.Lie supine facing the tower in hook-lying position.
2.Grasp the roll down bar with your hands and bring the bar under your legs.
3.Begin by nodding your chin and roll up into the hundred position.
4.Begin performing a slapping motion with your arms as you breath in and out.

To make exercise more effective:
Limit the range of motion and resistance to maintain your neutral pelvic position.

We saved the best for last 😆 Teaser is definitely one of the most challenging Pilates mat pieces for me.

I work into the full teaser here with a few warm up variations for the low back. Articulating the spine slowly as you come down is key for building the strength you need to lift.

Lifting my low back in the full V is my struggle, but I am a work in progress, just like you. I strive for daily progress, not perfection.
.

Sunday single leg work with a twist - hello there playground ball 🤗! When I teach a jumping class, the board stays on the reformer the entire hour. This goodie is one of my favorite ways to warm up those quads for what’s ahead.  Plus, the addition of the ball intensifies the stability challenge of the working leg. I like to visualize both legs as working in single leg variations - point those toes and find length in the gesture leg!  Movement performed in both parallel and external rotation. I started working on my #puppypress back in June of 2017, but it has been well over 6 months since I’ve tried one. I’ve been focusing on overall strengthening and corrective exercise to balance out my imbalances. I finally decided to give this another shot and hot damn at the difference 😳

I still have internally rotated humeral heads and kyphosis of the upper thoracic region, but my shoulder complex is so much more strong and stable than it used to be. I finally feel like my scapula are moving properly.

I have a lot of work to do before I my body is in balance (it may never be completely), but I am so proud of the progress I’ve made!

Today I did day 7 (and 5 and 6 🙊 - got a little behind) of @thebalancedlife free 7 day challenge. She does efficient and effective mat flows that make working out feel manageable and not overwhelming. “OK I can do 15 minutes.” And 15 minutes usually turns into more. Also, she is from Santa Barbara and has twins (I lived in Santa Barbara and am a twin so instant draw to her 👯‍♀️). I love good old fashioned matwork. The apparatus is fun and can be creative, but I love throwing my mat down and going back to basics without spring changes, etc.

Day 21: 
1. Down dog chest presses
- from plank press back to down dog and lift head to look at the space between the hands, without changing inverted V shape of body, inhale to bend elbows out to the side as low as you are able, keeping back flat and shoulder blades engaged down the back, exhale to press back up extending elbows. 
2 sets x 8 reps 🌟🌟🌟🌟
2. Dive bombers
- from down dog gaze between the hands, inhale to bend elbows in a down dog chest press as low as possible and then leading with the head continue through to an extension (modified upward dog), then exhale initiating from the head articulate the spine through flexion up and back to downward dog. That's 1 rep. (move slowly video has been sped up) 
2 sets x 5 reps ☝️☝️☝️☝️
• Keep your lower back lengthened by reaching your tailbone slightly under and drawing your lower abs in.
• Press down through the whole hand and keep your collar bones open.
• Engage your glutes and your legs always! Strong planks are also about strong engaged legs.
