We interrupt this afternoon of painting to bring you homemade gingerbread cookies. The new stainless countertop on the island is the perfect space to roll dough. One of my favorite parts of the holidays is cooking with the family. Thankfully this new space is large enough for everyone to get in on the cooking fun.
Today is the first day of 12 #Bakemasdays . @britishbakeoff is my favorite to watch. So of course I took on @meghanrienks #bakemas as my own personal challenge. I love to cook but I enjoy baking the most. I’ve always said I would tackle a Swiss roll one day. Today was the day.
Today’s Bake is Yule log. My take on a Yule log is different in the flavor. Honestly because I want to just use what I have on hand at home at the moment. One I don’t have chocolate to make a ganache, and two how will I have that perfect swirl even filling. 🤦🏽♀️ I whipped up the batter fairly quick but not to quick to deflate my batter. ( is that even correct). Baked it it for 11 min by the 13th minute I started rolli g that sucker with the parchment paper and said a prayer. Look at at that not too bad if I do say so myself I think Paul Hollywood would approve. On the taste i personally like it. I think I would be moved on to the round.
