So often, it seems, we don’t allow ourselves to do the things that make us happy, feel taken care of or fulfilled... like doing the things that we did so often as kids, before the obligation, responsibility and stress set in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This topic came up in my Mastermind group yesterday about how we get so consumed with checking the boxes in life (including the self care box) but there isn’t any Heart behind doing any of it, so it’s all just empty action that leaves us feeling drained, exhausted & confused. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes it takes getting back to the basics of being 5 years old again, when hot cocoa and fuzzy socks were the ultimate luxuries in living. Am I right? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So here’s your permission during this consuming (in all areas of life) time of the year, to take a moment today to sip on a cup of yummy and wiggle your toes in fuzzy... you deserve it. ...and you also deserve more marshmallows, so go for it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Getting back to basics.. So often we fill our bodies full of chemicals, GMO processed foods, medications for illness and mental health. We "diet" to achieve the body we want by restricting entire food groups, doing fad diets to take the easy way out. We go to extreme lenghts and have ridiculous calorie restrictions and do workouts we hate. I have done almost every fad diet there is.. Then one day something changed. I realized my body needs carbs so I don't need to hate them. I just have to choose healthy, natural complex carbs and avoid things made in a factory. I've started adding more vegetables and fruits into my diet and avoiding things that have so much on the label I can't understand. I eat things I love and I have found portion control. Instead of counting every macro I've started intuitive eating. We make all our meals at home, my honey is a hunter and we try to eat wild, natural game meat that isn't full of hormones and our kids love it. I've found we can still eat the things we love if we just add in things that are healthy.
I really love Yoga.
I'm early on in this journey, the path is long ahead of me and full of ups and downs but I realize that if I don't hate what I'm eating or doing it will be a lot easier to get there. This isn't just about changing my appearance. I want to feel healthy and I want to be in a good place mentally and absolutely nothing makes me feel better than a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle.
I'm ready for a change.
I'm ready to view food as fuel.
I'm ready to stop seeing food as my enemy.
I'm ready to stop using food for comfort.
I'm ready to do exercises I love instead of drilling out cardio for superficial reasons.
I'm ready to stop punishing myself.
I'm ready to find health.
I'm ready to finally love myself be happy .

The power of S•I•M•P•L•E✨.
Sometimes in the midst of busy, overbooked, overwhelm...there is nothing quite as soothing as taking a step back to simplify!!.
I’ve heard a few times, “I don’t have all the ingredients you use in your recipes or smoothies” 🤷🏻♀️😆 well... to be fair, when I am feeling energetic and “on top of it”, I enjoy playing chemist in my own kitchen...but some days, weeks, I need to scale down, oversimplify pretty much everything, to reset, get a sense of calmness and reboot 😅.
I had not made such a simple smoothie in weeks which I realized was a need to get back to basics 😬.
It’s pretty much sunshine in a glass and all you need is:
- 1 orange (pealed)
- 1 banana
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- water 💦.
That’s it!! Blend until all smooth and feel the brightness invade your body 😉.
