What a gem 💎. A blissful, blue gem. This is CARNIVAL in Grenada 🇬🇩⠀
It’s got a reputation around the Caribbean as being the best of the best, as carnival parties go. ⠀
We were lucky enough to arrive on the island just in time, because it really is an amazing experience . ⠀
All ages, shapes and sizes make their way from one end of the town to the other over the slow course of the afternoon. ⠀
The music is blasting, the bootys are shaking and the drinks are flowing. It was great to see this beautiful lady using a #reusablecup !⠀
We are already in love with this colourful island. And what an amazing introduction 💃🏼💙🌴⠀

Viewpoint number 2 on Phi Phi is worth the short hike.
Best time to go is before midday as the sun is behind you 😉
Enchantments with some of my favorite backpacking buddies.
oh, you didn’t study abroad? shame
This is my absolute favorite backpacking breakfast. Hands down. I make this for myself and for anyone I can because it is so much better than waking up to a mushy-instant-oatmeal-goo-ball. Tsampa is made with sprouted barley, which biggest take away from sprouted grains, (and nuts/seeds/legumes) is that it makes these slightly difficult to digest plant fibers more bioavailable (more digestible) for our bodies. The enzymes released when sprouting can literally change the food product so much so that foods that someone may have sensitivities to normally can be tolerated without an issue when sprouted.
Here's my go to recipe for coconut Tsampa in the backcountry (or honestly in the front country too when I need a quick breakfast!)
- -1/2 cup dry coconut Tsampa -2 tbsp chia seeds -1 scoop protein powder of choice (I go for a grass fed whey isolate for the creaminess but totally up to you and your preferences) -1 tsp coconut oil *optional 1 tbsp goji berries -
I find this combination to most importantly and taste good, plus give balanced fuel for the day with no issues of digestion or bloating when kept with these measurements. For those who are sensitive to any of these ingredients, definitely switch out and of course make sure to test any recipe at home before you go backpacking to make sure your body tolerates it well. -
We're excited to announce that for our retreats we will be featuring @peaksherpa Tsampa cereals for breakfast and snacks! 😀
