I really, really wish I’d done a before clip of client @matthew_holmes7 overall posture at the start. Matt was suffering from posterior pelvic tilt, and the thoracic spine was totally caved with kyphosis.
Compound movements had to be stripped back to elevated bench lifts with dumbbells either side until we built up strength throughout the whole posterior chain to progress onto other things.
Had to show him this clip after his lifts tonight. His response was, ‘to think I used to have a back like a snail’ 😂
As ever, this is all the evidence I need to see on a daily basis, that if you implement mobility techniques, train with GOOD form, recover well and eat according to your goals, you can correct your body aswel as make it more healthy.
I know I keep on at you mate, but I’m delighted with what I’ve seen today. Don’t stop progressing 💪🙌

Having to bend to reach low tables and chairs is another way that one can easily put strain on your body. In this video we are teaching you how work with low working spaces while keeping your spine straight and avoid twisting to reduce the likelihood of injury.

Side view of yesterday’s #salabhasana . Here you can see how the bolster supports the backbend and how the belt provides leverage and helps to open the chest. For me, it also encourages the upper traps to calm down, let go, and allow other muscles on the back body do the work of lifting.
Alignment nerds can note how the legs were in slight external rotation in yesterday’s, causing the heels to fall in toward the midline. On this day I focused more on the position of the thighs, feet, and heels, even though I couldn’t see them.
It’s a small adjustment, but since my spine already likes to do its own thing because of asymmetries, I love to stack the bones as cleanly as possible so the vertebrae have their best chance to also stack and behave with efficiency and spaciousness. I can feel the difference and it’s wonderful!
Finding neutral posture. It is the position of minimal stress to all muscle, tendon, and ligament attachments to the pelvis. In yoga, it can be found in mountain pose. It's somewhere between an anterior pelvic tilt, AKA Instagram Butt, and a posterior pelvic tilt, AKA Sitting Disease. .
