Transcendence & Immanence 💟 One of my favorite things about yoga is that it all relates. Yoga is connection. Your yoga practice is meant to align your life from the ground all the way up. A lot of people get confused and think yoga is all about transcending the body and the world, but truly it is both manifesting your reality here in this world and transcending it beyond.
This is just like your #asana practice. You must root down AND lift tall. Every posture has multiple lines going in two directions so you are simulationeously finding length AND building strength. This is super important in challenging postures like #backbends & #armbalances 🙏🏼 ✨ #ChinStand sequence coming soon 😃✨

Been there done that. Di pikiran kayaknya gak mungkin banget bisa 😂 walaupun sekarang juga gak bendy-bendy amat but i reached some improvements in my body. And it feels good now to bend. So, saranku kalau merasa badannya kaku jangan berkecil hati dan berhenti latihan backbend atau hip opening. You’ll get there 😉🙏🏻 #pishiyoga#backbend
Fairly recently, I had been struggling with backbends...as a result of all my handstanding 🤸♀️🤸♀️💪🏾 Thankfully that is no longer the case, at the moment. Getting into king pigeon, sometimes I do exit postures gracefully 😁 #BirthdayBends#withmymocana
Just practicing my thoracic extension for backbends 😉
Asana, or the physical practice of yoga, is all about becoming conscious of the body. Whereas dancers or athletes use their body as a tool for movement in space, with their attention being outside of the body, a skilled yoga practitioner brings their full attention within the body - becoming one with it, feeling its subtle impulses, and listening to its intelligence.
For example, when going into a backbend unconsciously most people tend to dump weight into their lower back instead of extending through their thoracic spine (drawing the front low ribs downward and rolling the chest upward). Practicing thoracic (upper back) extension will help alleviate any pain that comes from backbending. When we become consciously aware of our bodies, physical pain becomes a warning that we are doing something wrong rather than something we ignore and push through. 📷: @mimwi_alchemy

Combining my arch nemeses #dolphinpose and #backbends . Through the years I’ve come to love it and how strong and open it makes me feel, but it definitely was not love at first breath. .
How about you? . .
Swipe ⬅️ for reverse progression . I like to enter with straight legs and bend at the knees last . #forearmbalance#scorpion . Love the studio vibe @405yoga .
I think cobra pose is an underrated backbend. When you think of deep backbends, people usually think of wheel or scorpion. Cobra can be as deep or not deep as you want it to be, and I think that makes it pretty awesome 😄
🌀Making Shapes🌀How does the physical posture become a catalyst for change in our lives? By bringing consciousness into the body, we are able to explore and reveal new avenues of awareness and possibilities for interrelation. An inward focus helps us connect more to the innate wisdom that lies within, which when we listen, directs our actions towards more balance and alignment. Finding openness where there was once restriction, and healthy boundaries where we may have previously over-extended ourselves. Contentment comes through knowing that our power to create and transform resides within.
The highway I usually take to drive home had a severe accident and I had to take a 20mins detour along the back side of Blue Mountain to get to my destination. Instead of being frustrated and rushing home I decided to stop at the top of Blue to take a quick video. A nice gentlemen named Mohammed from Pakistan and his family were relaxing and enjoying the view, so I asked him if he could take a video of me doing a handstand of course.😅 This was the first time asking a stranger to take a vid and to be honest probably won’t be the last. All in all, things happen for a reason, I’m grateful I or no one that I know was part of this accident. And I hope everyone involved is okay. But it’s these small moments where you take advantage of the opportunity and make the best of it that life feels truly rewarding. Thanks Mohammed. ✌️
It's a big word and can mean many diffrent things to so many people
Having fun, feeling good, expressing myself, generating energy, connect myself and others... These are my reasons for movement 😊
Learn. Play. Grow.
Backbends are more fun when done with friends! Flashback to break time at teacher training a few weeks back. We’ve been busy behind the scenes of late - here’s a heads up to expect some very exciting announcements! Woohoo!
