Tomorrow me and my best bud @tammybear87 will be talking about our respective ventures on southbirminghamradio.uk. Tune in to hear us talk about pretty tough - what it’s all about, why I developed the concept and how it has made an impact for young girls so far. Also, how i’m planning on taking it to the next level over this year and how anyone that’s interested can get involved ☺️💪🏻
Pre-Holiday Tip 1...
Yesterday we discussed starting a dialogue with your child in preparation for all of the family time they may be experiencing over the next month. Our first tip is to ask your child open-ended questions about the people who they may be encountering during these family events. For example, "how do you feel about going to see grandpa next week?", "what do you like about uncle Jim and what don't you like about him?", or "what do you think about Pastor Smith or cousin Sara?". Give them the opportunity to answer the questions completely before asking additional clarifying questions and don't trivialize their opinions or try to convince them that they shouldn't feel the way they do. Remember, how you as a parent experience a friend or family member can be very different than how a child experiences that individual, especially when sexual abuse is occurring/has occurred. It is critical that you listen attentively in these moments and gently probe when you hear responses that cause you concern or their body language, facial expressions or tone changes when a specific individual is being discussed. If you aren't sure if there is a need for concern based on your child's explanation about a specific family member or friend, take measures to keep your child isolated from this individual until you are sure. #childsexabuseawareness#stopchildsexabuse#childsexabusesurvivor#parentsofchilldsexabusesurvivor#sexualassault#endchildsexabuse#endrapeculture#childabuse#sextrafficking#atlanta#ATL#Georgia#women#girls#teens#awareness#sexcrimes#rapevictims#rape#victims#children#prevention#trafficking#survivor#tips#blogger#speaker#metoo#advocate
All I could think about when writing this was the scene in the Notebook when Noah and Allie are fighting and he asks her What do you want?!?! Lol.
But, no, really. What do YOU want in life? Write it down. Personally? Health-wise? Career-wise? Relationship-wise? With yourself, family, friends, partner ? Financially? What are your dreams? Think about that. When you say it, you should feel good inside. It should make you happy. We might not think we're worthy of what we want though. But we are. We just have to believe it. We have to let go of those negative beliefs about ourselves first. Maybe we might not know what we want. I was that way for a long time. Most of my life. I'm 32 now. I didn't know what I wanted to do career-wise until a year ago. I can tell you, when the time is right (for anything), you'll know. It's all you'll think about! It's just not time yet. Focus on today. And what your intuition is telling you. ❤
MONEY...I never really like the vibration of it. I am aware we use it to buy things we want and “need” so I’m ok with it. It belongs in this Three Dimension world We live in. Just remember the love of #money is the root of ALL evil. With the wrong intentions money can destroy lives...homes and families. It is even worth it? 🤔💡💵
Given the pandemic nature of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression affecting those in our communities, it is important to bring awareness to the POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF DAILY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. Unfortunately prescription medication still seems to be the choice of treatment for people dealing with these issues. But why are we not using the chemicals our own bodies create to shift those psychological effects (hormones, adrenaline, cortisol, etc)? You may be turned off by the word “exercise” but you don’t have to start with anything intense such as sprints or burpees....start small with something simple like more walking or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
By staying active, you are: * going to increase the "happy" hormones in your body
* going to feel good about yourself with the increase of adrenaline or cortisol
* going to concentrate and focus better
* going to sleep better
* going to cope with your cravings and withdrawal symptoms if you try to give up a habit, such as smoking or alcohol
* going to love the person you're choosing to be!

“You are where you are supposed to be.”
Recently I was chatting with a friend, listing out all of the things that I felt I wasn’t going right or needed to get done. The list felt overwhelming, filled with guilt of not having enough time or energy to get completed. Then she said “It is okay; you are where you are supposed to be” 👩🏻💻
Has this happened to you? Is it often? Do you have an amazing friend to help you become more aware that you are on a journey and that it is okay to take things one step at a time. Double TAP if you have a great support system. Share below how you deal with the never ending to do list.
What’s more fun than supporting #MentalHealthAwareness ? This I’m Fine t-shirt from @mentalhealthistrending is a good way to do it. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve lost 23 lbs with @ww . That certainly gives a big boost to my feeling of wellness!

November is National Family Caregiver Month, a time during the year where we bring awareness to the sacrifices made by caregivers of loved ones! According to the Caregiver Action Network, this year's theme is "Supercharge Your Caregiving," a theme to highlight the importance of caregivers using tools to stay on top of their family members' needs and to also bring a sense of balance to their own lives. Being a caregiver is no easy feat and we thank the humble individuals who do so much every day to put their loved ones first. Happy National Family Caregiver Month from all of us here at Advantage! #feeltheadvantage#advantage#betterservice#betterquality#betterresults#youdeservetogetbetter
↟ icecold - iceland ↟
🌊❄️| „When the well is dry, we will know the worth of water.“ - Benjamin Franklin
🇮🇸💙| How beautiful is this icy water in Iceland. 3 years have already passed since I’ve been there. And I wonder how it looks now, as the ice and the glaciers are continuously melting 😢
💭🤭| Isn’t it kinda sad that there are still people denying climate change? I think it’s a shame. Also I heard a lot of people saying that it’s not their problem or that we can‘t change it anyway so we might as well just live our life in wealth and let someone else deal with it.
Yes, I sometimes hate it when that people belittle me for trying, for speaking up and for trying to change something. No, I don’t think I‘m a better human than you are by going greener day by day. But I’m trying to be a better human than I was yesterday.
I‘m not saying you have to change everything at once. That would be to idealistic. But you can do something step by step.
I became vegetarian 3 years ago again and since then started to cut out other animal products step by step. Then I stopped using as much plastic and started to buy more regional. Next step is to change my shopping behavior and only buying sustainable clothes. But know that this is still a process. I’m not perfect and I sure can do a lot better. So 2019 is going to be a plane free year (I can share old photos though 😅). And I’m not saying we should stop doing everything fun. I’m just thinking it’s good to reflect our behavior and maybe cut down some actions from time to time - in favour for our planet, our children, the next generation...
In denial or not, in the end we‘re all in this together...
🌸🌻| Happy Friday lovies ❤️ Feel hugged 😘

× YOUR REASON MATTERS ×
Why do you do what you do? It's important for you to take time to think it through 👇
Do you exercise because you love movement and because it makes you feel good or because you're punishing yourself for the cookie?
Are you eating whole, unprocessed foods because you want to nourish your body or are you dieting yourself into a pit of self-hate?
Are you nice to people because you genuinely care or because you're scared they won't like you? Do you say yes because you actually have capacity or are you afraid of disappointing people?
Just observe why you're doing the things you do in real life and you'll get to know why you still aren't happy. Sit with it for a while, talk it out and readjust your WHY - and you'll be a lot more content and happy with what you're doing 🤗❤️
Also I just wanted to show you my brownie muffins. Heckin' yum. Thanks @macromixes you da real MVP 🌼
🖤We pray facing Mt. Kenya the resting place of Mwenye Nyaga, the source of light.
He doesnt have a gender, she transcends all understanding. It provides us with the rivers that nourish our plants, and colors the forests with magnificent beasts.
🖤We rarely speak your name
You cannot concern yourself with petty human affairs when you have stars to hold up!
Our ancestors are our deities because they are closer to you. They sit with us at every meal
They dance and sing with us at every occasion.
How incredible it is to know that as i walk an army walks beside me.
🖤A love letter to my ancestors
The most important assignment of our life is to assert who we are outside of our professions, genders, family functions, labels, beliefs, nationalities
It is a bold and unapologetic authenticity.
Yoga Sutras 1.2-1.3:
yogash chitta vritti nirodhah
tada drashtuh svarupe avasthanam
Yoga is the control (nirodhah, regulation, channeling, mastery, integration, coordination, stilling, quieting, setting aside) of the modifications (gross and subtle thought patterns) of the mind field.
Then the Seer abides in Itself, resting in its own True Nature, which is called Self-realization.
Maturity is learning to walk away from people and situations that threaten your peace of mind, self- respect, values, morals or self worth.
Don't let the way other people treat you, determine your worth and value.
After struggling with depression, and anxiety for most of my teen years, and adult life I was desperate to free myself. 😩
I had found a bit of relief outside in nature but It wasn’t until I started practicing gratitude and meditation daily that I really found the relieve I had wished for. 🙏
There are many benefits to practicing gratitude daily 🔹Feeling More Connected (less lonely)🔹Stronger immune system🔹Improved emotional equilibrium 🔹Better sleep🔹Increased energy🔹More confidence in ourselves 🔹Deeper relaxation 🔹Increased creativity
Love yourself, love your day, love your life!
Every morning start your day off with a simple gratitude meditation about 3-10 things you are grateful for both big and small.
You will be amazed at how these small blessings cultivate a beautiful “just right” abundance of love and joy.
Make this whole month about giving thanks, not just one day. ✨💙🙏💙✨
