Life has been busy busy busy lately! This morning I was running late for work, had nothing prepped for lunch and figured I’d be stashing an epic bar in my bag. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Luckily I convinced myself to make a proper lunch and this whole thing was thrown together in 15 minutes 👏🏻

What I packed 👉🏻 farmers market mixed greens salad topped with shrimp seasoned with ginger and sea salt (takes 4 min to sauté), avocado, strawberries, sauerkraut, and leftover cabbage and mushrooms. Smoothie packed with spinach, mango, frozen cauliflower, collagen, lime juice, lemon juice, ginger, and coconut water. YUM 😋 •

My first attempt at making an Autoimmune Protocol Nomato Meat Sauce was a HUGE success!!!

What is “Nomato Sauce”? Simply put, it’s a alternative to tomato (nightshade) based red sauces, with all the flavor but none of the nightshades! When I get a hankering for something that isn’t traditionally AIP compliant, I put on my mad kitchen scientist hat and get to work recreating the flavors into a recipe that keeps me compliant with the autoimmune protocol! And this is just another example of that! I do this because the protocol has been SOOOO healing for myself and for my clients who are on it as well. And compliance is key to getting results on the protocol. .

This recipe is still in the works but I couldn’t wait to share a sneak peak with all of you! It’s Chalk full of veggies, herbs, and meat! It was DELICIOUS on its own but also amazing over sweet potato noodles, spaghetti squash, zucchini noodles, or cauliflower rice!

I have been going nonstop lately. Last week I thought I had an awful case of allergies. Turns out it’s Bronchitis! Being the multitasker that I am I will also get my port flushed while I’m here in the hospital waiting for some meds. After that it’s time to make some yummy soup and REST! Just another day living with an autoimmune disease. Fun times...
I’m not getting Chemo and I’m not getting admitted! Two huge bonuses of my day. One more thing...
You must always be your own advocate when it comes to your health. If you don’t speak up don’t expect results. Trust me when I say this. I’ve been dealing with my health as a full time job for three years now and had to fight like hell to save my own life on multiple occasions. I spoke up when needed so that I could be here today sharing this with you. Again today, I Did all the work and diagnosed myself but somehow the Doctor gets paid. I get complimented all the time about how much I know about my own health by other workers in the medical field. So maybe I should just join them and make some changes...

I got 99 problems... and they all went away with a good night's sleep!

Seriously though, am I the only one who gets overwhelmed at the drop of a hat when they aren't getting enough rest? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Yesterday was a rough day mentally for me for many reasons, but I forced myself to bed early and got a great nights sleep and I'm feeling so much better now.  I'm a huge proponent of getting enough rest and if you're a spoonie like me, it's even more important.  So take care of yoself, it's not selfish and the world will thank you for doing so. 😚

On another note, not quitting my day job to be a rapper.

One of my favorite little hacks is freezing avocados, thanks to @lilsipper for dropping this nugget of wisdom! In her sharing this hack, I haven’t had an avocado go bad yet and I love it! Between how expensive avo’s are and how quickly they go bad, I love knowing that I can pop this produce in the freezer and be able to defrost whenever I want. It is simple and keeps you from losing money over rotted produce. I put a frozen avo in a mug of hot water for maybe 15-30 minutes prior to using it, it defrosts, and that avo seriously comes out like butter. So. Effortlessly. Think about doing this the next time there is a good sale on avocados!

I went I little crazy and bought a few pounds of cherries since they were on sale this week. So I needed to use a bunch before they went bad. I also have been looking for ways to get the babe to eat more veggies. Voilá... cherry zoats was created! Do it up: Add in about a cup of grated zucchini to oats (I added the zuc in to my stovetop oatmeal). When the oatmeal is done cooking, add in cherries (pits removed, obvi), and then add in just a little maple syrup. Easy. Delish. And it's REAL FOOD.

Today’s Qi Gong move - gently bend your knees, relax your shoulders and turn from your hips and your waist, allowing your arms to knock on your lower back/hips. Take gentle, deep, natural breaths(not forced). This is the move that I usually love to start my morning routines with, as it brings lots of energy into the body, while at the same time increasing my flexibility and creating flow and suppleness through the spine. A wonderful way to find my center and balance first thing as I wake up. As always, I love to do this barefoot, with my skin exposes to the sun, in a quiet natural environment.  ____  And because this week I’m focusing on being mindful of my environment (as part of my embodied mindfulness routine), while doing this move, I open up my senses and allow my awareness to take notice of all that is around me. Today I mostly listened, with my eyes closed, to all the sounds around me. The small lizards crawling on the ground, the grass hoppers,  the dogs barking in the distance, woodpeckers in the trees, birdies singing everywhere, planes flying in the sky, the sound of a deep honk somewhere in the distance, the wind whistling through the tree branches. I allowed myself to come out of my head/mind and be fully present and grounded within my reality. Grounded within my body and my own hearing sense. Tomorrow I might focus instead on watching the world around me, or smelling it, or perhaps feeling it through my sense of touch, by feeling the ground under my feet, the wind through my fingers, the warmth of the sun on my skin, the breeze on my forehead, or the tingling energy in my palms. I try to choose one sense to work with each day, or sometimes I’ll just mix and match.  ____  It’s all about being comfortable, playful, curious, present, intuitive, aware and connected to myself and the world around me. I must have done this move while practicing mindfulness for a good 15 minutes, before I continued with the rest of my routine.  #qigong

This is the move that I usually love to start my morning routines with, as it brings lots of energy into the body, while at the same time increasing my flexibility and creating flow and suppleness through the spine. A wonderful way to find my center and balance first thing as I wake up. As always, I love to do this barefoot, with my skin exposes to the sun, in a quiet natural environment. ____ And because this week I’m focusing on being mindful of my environment (as part of my embodied mindfulness routine), while doing this move, I open up my senses and allow my awareness to take notice of all that is around me. Today I mostly listened, with my eyes closed, to all the sounds around me. The small lizards crawling on the ground, the grass hoppers, the dogs barking in the distance, woodpeckers in the trees, birdies singing everywhere, planes flying in the sky, the sound of a deep honk somewhere in the distance, the wind whistling through the tree branches. I allowed myself to come out of my head/mind and be fully present and grounded within my reality. Grounded within my body and my own hearing sense. Tomorrow I might focus instead on watching the world around me, or smelling it, or perhaps feeling it through my sense of touch, by feeling the ground under my feet, the wind through my fingers, the warmth of the sun on my skin, the breeze on my forehead, or the tingling energy in my palms. I try to choose one sense to work with each day, or sometimes I’ll just mix and match. ____ It’s all about being comfortable, playful, curious, present, intuitive, aware and connected to myself and the world around me. I must have done this move while practicing mindfulness for a good 15 minutes, before I continued with the rest of my routine. #qigong

It’s National Selfie Day so OF COURSE I didn’t forget my post-workout selfie. 😄😄 Today’s workout was Pilates.  I’m going to admit, I went in to this workout with a bad attitude. I’m a Pilates Instructor. I thought it was going to be boring and not effective.

LONG POST! bear with me. 
Today is #InternationalYogaDay. Throughout the last 18 months yoga has been my therapy when I need to work through hurdles life throws at me. It gives me mental and physical strength when I need it the most. I am honestly having the hardest time with the latest hurdle: being sicker than I’ve ever been in my life. 2 days in the hospital on a crazy amount of IV steroids and antibiotics strong enough to kill anthrax 🙃😳 I felt better and was discharged. Today is my first day home and I am in so much pain again, I look terrible, I can’t be seen in public without scaring people, and I can’t practice yoga with my yoga family who make me feel better. I can’t be in the sun.  I’m trying so hard not to get engulfed in self pity but it’s a freaking STRUGGLE. I share this because you know I firmly believe in transparency. I love my life and am so grateful to be where I am. I’m trying to practice attitude of gratitude and believe in the power of positivity (thank you for these words, @jillfermonte!) when I just want to curl in a ball and cry. I am grateful for the support of my mom who had to cancel all of her plans this week to take care of me and be my advocate in this terrible state of healthcare, and for helping me with my kids. I’m thankful for all of the texts and messages and well wishes. This morning, @allienunzi ‘s words that I’ve heard so many times echo in my mind and give me some comfort: “Child’s pose is always there for you. Take it when you need it.” This is nowhere near my physically empowering handstands or wheels, but it’s something I can do today to feel like I’m not completely stripped of everything that brings me joy. So, my International Yoga Day Practice this year is simply child’s pose.

This is a longer post, but indulge me — it’s my birthday! 😄
One year ago I had no idea what my 42nd year would have in store for me.  I knew I had several autoimmune diseases that I managed with diet and supplements.  But I finally started to admit something was off.  I was edgy and exhausted. I felt slow and stupid (brain fog is the WORST). My closest friendships didn’t quite feel quite and I no longer enjoyed all the things I usually loved. 
In November 2017 I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr and adrenal fatigue.  What a relief to have a reason for feeling like this!  I rested 3 weeks, because surely that should be enough (some arbitrary time frame I was ok with). I got back to normal activities, then crashed.  Got back up and crashed again. Again and again and again (clearly I’m a slow learner). So here I am, a year older and not much wiser. But I’m learning. I’m learning to be patient and kind with myself and let God work in me. He’s shown me so much in the last year and even though I’m not well yet, I can’t wait to see what He does in my 43rd year!

I’ve struggled with exactly when and how to share this (which is ironic, and you’ll see why)... last week I got some of the best news of my life. During a call with my coach in which we went over my labs and delved into the plan for moving forward in my healing journey, I found out that my hashimoto’s is in REMISSION! I have zero antibodies thyroid whatsoever! 🙌🏽 Some of you may wonder how this change came about, but unless you’ve known me and followed my journey for the last 3.5 years since my diagnosis, you might be confused. 
When I was diagnosed I began doing my own research on what I would need to do to get ahead of this disease. The very first thing I did (and have maintained 100% without compromise) was to go completely gluten free and dairy free. I have to believe that this change was the major catalyst in reversing the damage done by my disease and allowing me to now manifest zero antibodies three years later. 
So...what’s next? Well, we have also discovered that I have a gene mutation called the MTHFR mutation which prevents me from converting certain types of vitamins and minerals into something my body can use to generate new tissue. My journey is FAR from over. My hormones are also imbalance and my cortisol levels fluctuate in a way that is completely opposite of what they should be naturally. 
But I’ve been taking this time over the last week to silently enjoy my good news and revel in the hard work I’ve put in thus far! 😄

I’m on the road to recovery and this hasn’t been my worst day. My husband used to help me out of bed every morning. He’d stretch me and move my limbs around. I would dread the moment my feet hit the ground, because it could be so excruciating. I would look like a t-rex most mornings... walking hunched over and my body crippled up because of the pain that came with standing up straight and extending my arms and legs. *************************************
This is just to let you guys know I am like most of you. And everyday isn’t sunshine and rainbows, though I am finally beginning to see some sunshine. And I fully believe my lifestyle changes have contributed to this. Becoming aware of what I use outside my body and conscious of what I put in it. *************************************
Today will be another full day of work and a night of studying. Again, I am like most of you trying to juggle more than I feel like I can handle most times. Morning, night, and sometimes throughout the day I’m asking myself, “How am I going to do this?”

My husband used to help me out of bed every morning. He’d stretch me and move my limbs around. I would dread the moment my feet hit the ground, because it could be so excruciating. This season, if you feel a cold or flu coming on, make yourself a big pot of soup using this simple recipe.

Add Himalayan salt, to your taste.

🛑Transformation Thursday‼️ 📸I took new IsaBody pictures yesturday❗️ Wow I am ready to shout from the roof tops. Almost 3 years of feeding my body great nutrition. So today's plate consisted of brown rice, @larderfresh chickpea and pumpkin veggie burgers, spinach, avocado and sauerkraut. It's when I eat a balance of carbs/healthy fats/protein that I feel the best, my blood sugar levels are stabilised and I don't get cravings!

I found out more about my fight with psoriasis - natural theraphy is the best . Sun  and seawater helped  a lot in healing fast ( the sulphur springs in Marinduque was on top of it all ) , and of course the stress free holiday and relaxing place . What took two months being on corticosteroids  just took two weeks of  island life.  Its on remission. But claiming healing  for good. Thank God for nature’s remedies. Thank God for his provision and blessings of wellness . Striving for a holistic approach- healing of body, mind, and soul.

Ok here is a little video on the Dexcom “microwave hack” that allows you to restart a new session on the same sensor to take it past 7 days. The genius part about this is that you can still see Dex data even during the two hour warmup. Yes! No more going “blind” for two hours! In order to do it, you need both iPhone and Dex Receiver (if anyone knows of a way to do this without a receiver pls share 💕). Anyhow, I tried this 4x and failed each time. Until I met @melodylumpkin in person and she told me exactly how to do it. I discovered why it didn’t work for me the other times. So to save the sanity of anyone trying this, I posted a video to make life easier. It had to be cut into 1 minute clips, so watch em in order, sorry it’s so piece-y. I also posted this in my highlights too, that version seems to play less choppy ☝🏼Hopefully it’s helpful to you all! Ok here is a little video on the Dexcom “microwave hack” that allows you to restart a new session on the same sensor to take it past 7 days. The genius part about this is that you can still see Dex data even during the two hour warmup. Yes! No more going “blind” for two hours! In order to do it, you need both iPhone and Dex Receiver (if anyone knows of a way to do this without a receiver pls share 💕). Anyhow, I tried this 4x and failed each time. Until I met @melodylumpkin in person and she told me exactly how to do it. I discovered why it didn’t work for me the other times. So to save the sanity of anyone trying this, I posted a video to make life easier. It had to be cut into 1 minute clips, so watch em in order, sorry it’s so piece-y.
