3-4 year old replanted rainforest on our Dirrans End Reserve on the Atherton Tablelands. We have planted almost 50,000 trees onDireans to help reconnect rainforest remnants and create a corridor for wildlife movement. The forest is incredibly rich in tree dwelling mammals and Lumholtzs Tree Kangaroo is already using this replanted forest. Over the weekend we installed camera traps through a range of age classes for replanted forest on the site to see just how quickly it is being recolonised. #rainforest#cloudforest#athertontablelands#australianrainforest#wildlifecorridor#queensland#australia
Went walking through this high altitude cloudforest on the Atherton Tablelands on the weekend. A magic place with lots of tree kangaroo scratch marks on the trunks etc. Such a tragedy that so little of this forest remains as it is so dense in wildlife. This particular patch sits on Dirrans End, a private Reserve managed by @southendeavour . It is part of a major corridor project to reconnect major remnants of this once great forest #rainforest#cloudforest#australianrainforest#athertontablelands#northqueensland#queensland#australia
Some incredibly open rainforest on our Misty Mountain Reserve on North Queensland’s Atherton Tablelands. Misty Mountain was purchased with generous assistance from @rainforesttrust . Misty Mountain helps complete a very high priority wildlife corridor between two large sections of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Completing the corridor will require a major project on rainforest revegetation and weed control. This is now well underway with support from the Department of Environment and Science and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. #rainforest#australianrainforest#athertontablelands#queensland#northqueensland#australia
The monsoonal climate of Cape York can transform jointed granite into massive piles of boulders. There are only three areas of these boulderfields on Caoe York including a large area on our Kings Plains Reserve. These boulderfields often support springs and, in turn, semi deciduous Rainforest. #capeyork#capeyorkpeninsula#boulderfield#rainforest#australianrainforest
The Rainforest is flowering. What a resource for birds, bats, small mammals and insects. It has not rained for six months, everything is parched. What a great strategy for these trees to attract pollinators galore when there is almost no alternative food source. This rainforest is on our Caloola Reserve near Cooktown on Cape York. It was purchased in 2017 with generous assistance from @rainforesttrust #rainforest#floweringforest#capeyork#capeyorkpeninsula#australianrainforest#queensland#australia
