Ian Smith, ‘Constructing Houses - Deconstructing Mountains’, 2017.
Smith had his first show with Gallery One Eleven (which later became the Ray Hughes Gallery) in 1972. He has long been one of Australia’s leading painters and has found great acclaim domestically and overseas. Some might remember his iconic paintings in the old Hughes Gallery elevator.
Current colour palette. There’s been a couple of quiet days in our household. So so many naps for us all. Especially Archer. He was barely awake yesterday and I was thinking he would be up all night. Nope! Slept all night too. Maybe we were fighting something off🤷🏻♀️. Feeling fresh, just as fresh as this colour💚💛💛💜💓
Here’s a sneak peek at my current watercolour. It’s nice to be painting again! I’ve had a few days of working on my website and I didn’t pick up a brush. I get frustrated if I can’t paint every day. Who else feels that way? The subject of this painting is a pair of Australian King Parrots. These guys visit my garden almost every day. I’m laying in the first washes on the little female. As a side note ..... head on over to my website for some super specials on original paintings just in time for Christmas 🎄.
The real life paintings that @gaz_kanata made for the EP cover. A lot of people have commented on how much they love this artwork and I strongly agree with them. The painting was based on me sitting playing guitar on the red couch at my old house with some real and imagined objects surrounding me. And my pets feature on the back cover which can be seen to the right. We need to make some CDs or vinyl soon! (Also shout out to the giant crack in the wall, hellooo). #australianartist#newmusic
