As coaches we always need to consider the trade off between accuracy, cost and convenience.
Fortunately, with modern technology many of these ‘classic’ problems can be solved and are great intuitive tools to assess and monitor clients.
In this infographic you can see the most common methods for collecting nutrition information and how, typically, the more accurate they are the less convenient they are for the client and the lower the compliance we might expect.
From Cardiff to #peakperformance 🚊, My client Sean travels to see me for a double session every week!....Talk about commitment!
He is returning to fitness from a long term injury. As you can see in a couple of the clips, his balance still needs work but we’re improving every session, ready to get him back out on the pitch playing again.
When training clients who are coming back from injury it is so important to add uni-lateral drills into your sessions. This will test balance, co-ordination and proprioception. As Sean plays football which is predominantly a uni-lateral sport (passing, jumping, striking the ball, tackling) it’s important that I train him in a way that mirrors the demands of his sport.
A quick shift from the mind to the body with external cueing(using the corebag). Amazing how the body reacts to the environment cause most of the time saying butt back doesn't work 🙁. .
LEFT: too much KNEE with no hip flexion thus more quads tension, knee pains/problems.
RIGHT: hip and knee movement thus balancing the tension/work load sharing it with the HIP extensor ( #glute ,#hamstrings ) and KNEE extension/flexion (#quads )/ (hamstrings)
#WellnessWednesday : Legs not feeling fresh lately? Try wearing graduated compression socks (15-20mmHg recommended). Research shows using compression garments can:
⚡Increase circulation and improve blood flow
⚡Increase oxygen to muscle tissue
⚡Reduce pulled muscles and lessen exercise-induced muscle soreness in the legs
⚡Reduce lactic acid buildup in the legs during exercise
⚡Improve energy, performance and recovery
