He is returning to fitness from a long term injury. As you can see in a couple of the clips, his balance still needs work but we’re improving every session, ready to get him back out on the pitch playing again.

When training clients who are coming back from injury it is so important to add uni-lateral drills into your sessions. This will test balance, co-ordination and proprioception. As Sean plays football which is predominantly a uni-lateral sport (passing, jumping, striking the ball, tackling) it’s important that I train him in a way that mirrors the demands of his sport.

Intro Deceleration Drilling / Running Posture Drilling

Purpose of Exercise:
- Low load deceleration drill on the knee because gravity has been taken out on front knee..
- Positive shin angle with torso parallel with shin - running mechanics
- Triple extension of back leg for running mechanics - Front knee loaded as weight shifts forward - great for hip/knee/ankle ROM. Also great for front leg muscle activation / strength. .
