I made a bit of a boo-boo on this one... I've imaged this over the course of two nights comprising of some 6.5 hours of data. The first night I imaged this with my scope at home with the focuser rotated to the orientation of the Andromeda Galaxy, the second night was at my girlfriend's house after stripping down the scope, packing it in its case and then set up in her amazing southern facing garden... with the focuser reset to its normal place to fit in the case... this means nearly half of my data was at one angle and the rest at another which led to some radical cropping in DeepSkyStacker. Whoops! Talk about dithering... kind of explains why the stars are big and the sudden SCT style increase in focal length.. 😉 still I'm happy with this one!

Mare Serenitatis is a fascinating crater with a lot of features to see.
Differing colours of the lunar landscape as well as ancient lava flows and craters dotted around the Mare.
Also the Landing site of Apollo 17 which I have highlighted with a red marker.
The landing site was chosen with the primary objectives of Apollo 17 in mind: to sample lunar highland material older than the impact that formed Mare Imbrium, and investigate the possibility of relatively new volcanic activity in the same area. Cernan, Evans and Schmitt returned to Earth on December 19 after a 12-day mission.
Apollo 17 is the most recent manned Moon landing and the most recent time humans travelled beyond low Earth orbit. It was also the first mission to have no one on board who had been a test pilot; X-15 test pilot Joe Engle lost the lunar module pilot assignment to Schmitt, a scientist. The mission broke several records: the longest moon landing, longest total extravehicular activities (moonwalks), largest lunar sample, and longest time in lunar orbit. #moon#moonlight#space#luna#lunar#crescent#nightsky#cratersofthemoon#astrophotography#telescope#astronomy#astro#astroworld#instagram#photographer#photoshop#nasa#mare#lava

Honestly tho all I did was sell little tiny books and I was really good at the beginning I memorised how I would advertise it to the people passing. "Excuse me ma'am/sir would you like a book it's only $5 it has a map of the whole base* and articles containing information about (blue something I forgot) and it does have a little adverts in there but your $5 will go to the (blue something) program." They either would buy it or say they already had one which I get but for those who straight up ignored me I followed them and kept insisting they acknowledge that I was talking to them. Sorry to say it like this but I was targeting old veterans or just old people in general since I'm a whole cutie I just slapped the fakest smile and I tried having a conversation to make them feel welcome and all that stuff and for the most part it worked but like idk people couldn't understand the foreigners accents which well I did cuz all you gotta do is connect sounds and shit idk so I mainly hit up foreigners and old people and it worked till like my second bag which I only sold half..

Orionid Meteor Shower ☄️✨🌌
On Sunday, October 21, the excellent Orionid meteor shower, which is derived from material dropped by repeated past passages of Comet Halley, is underway and observable world-wide.
It will peak in the hours after midnight (in your local time zone). At that time, the sky overhead will be ploughing through the densest region of the particle field, generating up to 25 meteors per hour.
The meteors can appear anywhere in the sky, but true Orionids will be travelling in a direction away from a location (the radiant) a fist’s diameter to the upper left of the bright red star Betelgeuse in the constellation of Orion. Although not too numerous, the Orionids are known for being bright and fast-moving. You can watch for meteors in the evening, too — but many of them will be hidden behind the Earth’s horizon.
This shower has a broad period of activity because the debris field is very spread out and the comet’s orbit does not cross Earth’s at a sharp angle. So, technically, the Orionids will linger until late November — weakening as time passes. Unfortunately, the moon will be close to full around the peak evenings this year, somewhat spoiling the shower.
To see the most meteors, find a wide-open dark location, preferably away from light polluted skies, and just look up with your unaided eyes. Binoculars and telescopes are not useful for meteors — their field of view is too narrow. If the peak night is cloudy, several nights on either side will be almost as good. Happy hunting!
