Asteya is the third of Patanjali’s 5 Yamas of the yoga sutras. Asteya can be translated to ‘non-stealing’ which means much more than physically taking something from someone else. If the poem is the cry of the occasion, it makes perfect sense that I'm gravitating toward #Rumi lately. His verses grant  me a profound kind of permission to love myself, which in turn allows me to love others with more intensity and integrity. Like an unthoughtful Christmas gift, love given with half a heart is not love at all. .
That doesn't mean it's easy to turn off our rat-race mind when it comes to love, too. We spend so much of our lives searching for it—in people, food, material goods, approval, awards, paychecks, and Instagram likes 🙃. Our mistake is not in wanting love, but in thinking that it requires hard work. Efforting for love is no different than efforting in asana—it steals the breath from the heart center, violating our most sacred value of #ahimsa and #asteya. . 
If you're hungry for love today, close your eyes and feel your breath moving through and around you. Feel the love of the universe telling you you can, and deserve, each and every breath. Be breathed, and be loved. .

I've been off for months. Why?

Today my soul awoke at 6am. ⏳It's time.

What you have to realise is that you are wonderful and doing wonderfully as you. You are a blooming flower on your own journey to greatness. 🌻

Yes it’s hard not to judge sometimes. But just remember. We all have our own path. Our paths intertwine and connect with others paths throughout the way, we find someone to share our path with, we give life to the little seedlings and they bloom on their own too.

Acroyoga is sometimes described as not "real yoga", more like fun circus  #acrobatics. It is definitely fun and we practice a lot of #circusmoves and #laugh a lot 🤣 but we also practiced "normal" yoga first thing in the morning, breathing and moving together in #vinyasa, we cooked and ate together, we built connections, climbing and falling off each others feet. We accepted who we were without questions, eager to meet new playmates. We got to trust, support and literally lift each other up.
This is real yoga 🧘‍♂️

ASTEYA - “non- stealing”, neprilaščanje, nepohlepnost...

Asteya je tretja od jam. Ne pomeni samo kraje/nekraje v materialnem smislu, ampak ima veliko globlji pomen. 
Izvor asteye je v našem nezadovoljstvu, naši manjki, občutku da potrebujemo “samo še to”, da bi se počutili celostno. Izvira iz (pod)zavestne ideje, ki ji verjamemo, da to kar smo/kjer smo, ni dovolj #iamnotenough. Takrat se pojavi želja, potreba po tem, da bi imeli več, da moramo biti več/boljši/drugačni in da potrebujemo več. Želja se lahko hitro sprevrne v  pohlep.
Asteyo na joga matu #onyogamat prakticiramo tako, da se skušamo čimbolj zavedati trenutka v katerem smo. Da smo budni, da občutimo asano, ne da razmišljamo kako bi se morali počutiti in kako bi morali izgledati v njej. Če počnemo to in prehitevamo sami sebe, se oropamo ravno za tisto češnjo na vrhu smetane, tisto lepo pot, ki nas pelje do “cilja”.
Vedno se vračamo k sebi, enako pri Ahimsi in pri Satyi. Vse se začne pri nas samih. Velikokrat pa želimo stvari reševat od zunaj. Ko nam kaj ne gre so krivi drugi, če bi drugi naredili to pa to bi bilo drugače,... Je znano? 😉
Asteyo izven joga mata prakticiramo podobno. Torej, da smo zadovoljni s svojim življenjem, sami s sabo v tem trenutku tukaj in zdaj. Da se sprejmemo in začutimo, da je to dovolj. Da se zavemo da nas nov avto, nova kuhinja, nov kos oblačila ali novi čevlji ne bodo pripeljali do večjega zadovoljstva, večje popolnosti in celosti. Da ne rabimo “samo še to”. Ampak da smo že DOVOLJ #youareenough . Da se spomnimo, da je sreča takrat ko stvari delimo z drugimi, da se počutimo svobodnejše ko ne kopičimo stvari, da občutimo prijetno toplino kadar stvar, ki je ne potrebujemo podarimo,...
Ko se zavedamo, da pravega navdušenja, prave živosti ne moramo občutiti, če nam je vse dano. Tako materialne kot nemateriralne stvari. Osebno v mojem primeru, da ne gre postati učiteljica joge danes in imeti poln in svoj joga studio jutri. Da je vedno potrebno iti počasi, v svojem tempu korak za korakom, tudi če je vsak korak čisto majhen. In da zaupamo, da zares vse pride takrat ko smo pripravljeni. 
Brez lastnega izkustva pa to ne gre. ♥️

Hundreds of thousands of babies like this gorgeous being are slaughtered every year in Australia. Their mothers are forcibly impregnated about 4 or 5 times between the ages of 1-5. All the male babies get slaughtered either for veal at about 18 weeks, or as infants on their first day of life. They are all taken from their mothers immediately. The female babies are kept in the same cycle of pregnancy and become milking machines like their mothers. The milk created by the mother for her baby is taken from her, and then given to humans. At the age of five, the mother cows are exhausted due to being kept in this repetitive cycle of pregnancy and milking. They are put on a truck and sent off to face their death at a slaughter house. And all this happens unnecessarily, as cows milk was not designed for the human body. In the latest studies, it is concluded that cows milk actually leeches calcium from our bones! It is a fallacy that we need cows milk for calcium. Calcium is found in many plant foods. The China Study clearly indicates the damage animal protein does to our human body. Did you know human animals are the only animals that drink another species milk? We are the only species that drink another species milk! Why? Human breast milk is very low in protein, and human breast milk is perfect for human babies. Cows breast milk is perfect for baby cows. It is growth fluid designed to grow a baby cow very, very quickly. It is full of all the nutrients and protein for cows. Cows milk was not designed for our bodies. However, if we were out in nature and starving, drinking cows milk could keep us going- if we were in this situation. However, we are not. We now have so many options available to us. By breaking the attachments to your excesses behaviors and addictions (mental, physical, emotional & spiritual)...you will cultivate strength, courage and will. Every impulse you overcome you will become stronger, happier and wiser. One of the main goals in yoga is to create and maintain balance (inner union). The simplest method to bring self into harmony is by practicing Brahmacharya. Practice moderation in all of your activities. Moderation is a way to conserve your precious energy. The energy you reserve can be applied to your higher spiritual purpose and practice.

Being open to learning about yoga philosophy and disciplines has taught me many lessons that have created shifts in my thinking, cultivating an overall greater sense of contentment. The greatest shift in my world has been the realisation that life is not a competition. I'm not sure if it's inately human, part of our culture or a bi-product of the corporate world I had worked in, but I had been walking around for years in my mind competing with and comparing those around me to myself. I am certain this was the root of an attitude of overwhelming dissatisfaction and at times caused me staggering anxiety. I am so thankful to have come to the realisation that there is enough for everyone. There is no competition. There is instead, an attitude of gratitude firmly grounded deep within my heart in the realisation that we are all connected and that we can all bloom. Moreover, we can give energy to authentically celebrating the success of others, which ultimately raises our own vibration.

Sure non-stealing can simply mean to not steal money or not steal from stores but just like most things in life…there’s a way deeper meaning. ✨ Here are just a couple of different ways to practice Asteya:

To not steal other peoples time! If you don’t have the time to go get coffee with an old friend next week, then why did you agree to do it? It is not fair for that person to take time out of their schedule just for you to cancel, or even show up 15 minutes late. If you do not have the time to be present then be honest!!!! It is so simple and in the end most people appreciate honesty. Honoring the time you have in a day, week, or month and simply sticking with that. You do not have to agree to put everything on your plate just for it to overflow. 😖

To NOT STEAL OTHER PEOPLES LOVE!!! This one really hits home…as for most of you, I am sure it does for you as well. We’ve all been in that relationship before (friendship or even a significant other) where they just suck the life out of you. If you cannot love a person and mean it, then do not even bother. You are wasting a little piece of their sacred heart and I would hate to see it go to waste. I mean, shoot, elephants can freaking die from a heartbreak! Who is to say humans can’t either? 💔😔

Now, to focus on YOU. Do not steal from yourself. Honor and respect the light in yourself. Wake up every morning being you!!! Here’s what this quote really had me thinking about ... One of my fave business mantra’s is “be driven by conviction, not recognition”. When your dreams are driven by a desire to somehow serve a purpose greater than your own, you cannot and will not fail. When the abundance that you desire is for the purpose of continuing to serve others in a way that lights you up, the sky is the limit. ⠀

With just 4 years of entrepreneurship under my belt, I’m still a baby to all of this but I do spend hours trying to learn more about entrepreneurship & soulful entrepreneurship in particular. Based on my own experience, I feel I can give the following advice with 100% confidence: the belief & value system you base your business and your actions on matter. Believe in yourself but always be up to something bigger than yourself. The world doesn’t need more ego-driven, competition based business. Focus on what you do well & how you can help others by sharing it. The world needs more humility, more honesty, more compassion, more love & more healing. You can be all of these things & still achieve success & abundance. 💯⠀

The moment we feel a sense of ‘lack’ in life - desire, want and greed arises. We begin to look for something to fill that ‘empty’ sensation, and often feel as though everyone else has what we want.
Lack, insecurity, wanting, feeling ‘incomplete’… Essentially it all boils down to feeling like there’s something missing.  The word yoga means ‘to yoke’, ‘unite’, ‘connect’, or essentially to become ‘whole’, so by practising each aspect of yoga on and off the mat, we can move further towards feeling as though we already have enough, and we already are enough within ourselves.•

. Welcome to The United States of Am(microwave)erica... :-( . . "Smart City" grids (such as Riverside) are the most integrated with the growing 5G network. They are turning this place into "River-cide" with each new tower they install.. . It's utterly boggling to see sometimes 2 or 3 mega towers in the same parking lot or grass field of many schools.. where the developing youths are at the highest risk and yet are trapped in the line of fire for 40+ hours per week. By law! . Or the businesses agreeing to allow instalation on their roofs without notifying their employees of the absolute concerns? . Even churches are having them installed in their towers and belfries.. Meanwhile their "flocks" are being pelted with the opposite of the loving messages preached from inside.. . Only being up in the mountains or away from it all, (where there isn't cell service) do you realize just how much damaging and draining energetic oppression the network constantly exerts on us.. bodily, mentally, emotionally, etc. Especially those of us most sensitive to frequency. . Things are going to get very deceptively interesting very quickly, once all the new super fast and fun 5G connected gadgets start flooding the market.. and the "internet of things" fully launches.. . And thus the proverbial wool being pulled further over the eyes of the distractable consumerist sheep-le (the asleeple).. . I found this site . http://www.antennasearch.com . for checking the locations and specifications of the nearest towers to our addresses.. home, school, work, etc. Dismal to see just how overlapped we are in certain places. . A couple weeks ago a woman showed up to my class. We were 45 minutes into an 80 minute class and she stood there confused. I whispered that she must be here for the other class, she stepped out and came back. "My daughter is in this room." She looked around. I walked her back out the door and told her she was disrupting my class. "but my daughter is here." No ma'am, I don't think she is. "But I see her there." Then she's been here for 45 minutes. I stood at the door and held my ground. . . .
My experience of this woman was that she had no respect for the sacred space or the yoga practice. Maybe it was her first time. Maybe she's never been told no. She needed the yoga as much as anyone. I found out later that she was 20 minutes late for the class she intended to take (it wasn't mine) and she was disruptive from the moment she walked into the studio.

Such disruption could be considered stealing. When we enter a peaceful sacred space with our swirling energy, without mindfulness about how others are impacted, we can steal the peace and sense of calm being held by the students and teacher. But my job in the moment was to hold the peace and not allow it to be stolen. To calmly usher out the disruption, no matter how insistent she may have been.

❣Something I want to share with you about my yoga / fitness journey❣

Anyone who knows me well will know that if it doesn't have genuine meaning behind it, it ain't holding my attention for very long!!
.
So I'm in the gym at the moment & what's keeping me coming back - I'm on a mission to strengthen my upper back which will improve my posture, my yoga practice and reduce tension & pain. .
From what I can make out, my delts, lats & maybe even upper traps are very strong but deep down around my rhomboids I'm cryin like a baby!
.
This has happened over time by coming in to #Cobra the wrong way... And then repeating movements like #Chaturanga (pic 4) only using my stronger muscles
.
**Students take note** I used to dispise cobra pose! In the very early stages of my yoga journey, I was focussing mostly on the physical aspects (because let's be real, this is what will make me look good and that is most important!🙄🤣) The ego can be a powerful force! I used to race in to the pose, pressing up with my arms, placing all the pressure in the heals of my hands, letting my chest fall, dumping down in to my shoulders & back...no no no 🙈 It's easy to want to do this when you don't have the upper body strength or flexibility in your back. But it's bad news! Even when I had gotten my ego to take a back seat & gotten the form right, I still wasn't using some of the neccessary muscles. By neglecting my upper back, I have ended up with front slouching shoulders and constant niggley pains in my upper back.

So Yogis! As you know, I can only instruct as clearly as I can & make small tweaks here & there in group classes, not enough time to fix everyone! But please take note of this. *lift up slow, using strength in back, weight even in hands, elbows in by ribcage, shoulders down, squeeze shoulder blades in, chest ➡ lengthen neck* Practice the movement at home in front of a mirror, video yourself, book a one to one with me or ask questions!

Another reminder to be concious of every movement, every part of the body, every breath. . (Bogdan @wexfordtalbotfitness has been helping me out🙏🏼 he'll run you in to the ground but it can't be denied, he knows what he's talking bout🤣)

Alors que la COP24 se tient actuellement en Pologne et que de nombreux français réclament en ce moment davantage de justice fiscale et sociale, il est parfois aisé de mettre dos à dos justice climatique et justice sociale, comme deux objectifs apparemment irréconciliables.
La philosophe Virginie Maris, dans l'émission "le monde sauvage existe-t-il encore ?" (voir en story), nous rappelle pourtant que la question climatique n'est qu'une facette, qu'une conséquence, du problème plus général de notre rapport au vivant, de surexploitation du monde, de surexploitation des peuples.
Ce sont les facettes d'un même enjeu, celui de notre rapport prédateur, consommateur, d'appropriation qui s'exerce tant sur la nature, les ressources, que sur les peuples, les femmes, et qui doivent donc être pensées de concert. 
Dans la philosophie yogi,  Pantajali dans ses yoga sutra parle d'Asteya : la non-appropriation ; et de Vairagyam, le non-attachement. 
Ces deux concepts nous invitent à considérer la possibilité d'un autre rapport à l'autre et au vivant : celui d'accueillir sans chercher à s'approprier, asservir, contrôler. "Construisons des ponts, pas des murs" ~ je me permets de détourner ici le propos de Greenpeace (destiné initialement à D.Trump à propos de la construction du mur entre les US et le Mexique.).
PS / et j'en profite pour rendre hommage à mes amis qui se reconnaîtront (et aux autres aussi) qui au-delà des mots, se démènent tous les jours depuis des années pour rendre cette réconciliation possible. 📸 : Greenpeace France

The third Yama, Asteya, is the principle of non-stealing. Not stealing time, energy, ideas, as well as, material objects. ⛅️ It is said stealing comes from a feeling of separation or the feeling that “this” is the totality of me. .
.
So, this challenge has helped me take a look inward and check in with myself. 🧐 I realized, in my opinion, I’m doing a pretty good job of practicing Asteya towards others, but not so good when it comes to myself. With others I am mindful of their time, love, and energy. Not wanting to steal anything from anyone just wanting to spread love and light 😊💕 When it comes to practicing Asteya with myself on the other hand.... I could use some work. I’ve been stealing my own joy lately and I didn’t even realize it! It’s so easy to get caught up in the stories we tell ourselves and steal time and joy away from ourselves. I am so grateful for this challenge reminding me of the ever present opportunity to check in. 😊💕🙏 ..

#asteya is often translated as #nonstealing. At the surface level, it is surely reasonable enough to honor - especially in living a life of peace and integrity. But, let’s consider, what causes stealing in the first place? Ultimately, some sense of lack or disconnection. With that in mind, asteya also becomes the practice of noticing those feelings and transforming them into abundance and connection. As part of the first branch of #Yoga, this practice helps uncover harmony within and without. The Kleshas are a state of pain, stress, grief, and misery of the mind. They kleshas are a catastrophe in our consciousness. We are bombarded every day with over 3000 media messages that tell us we aren't good enough unless we dress a certain way; we must wear certain clothes to look polished; buy expensive make-up to mask our true beauty; lose weight so our cellulite doesn't show like the airbrushed models in magazines; To me, the biggest avidiya (ignorance) is not being authentic and allowing your ego to let you know your not good enough

Raga (desire) puts us on a downward spiral to nowhere looking and searching for pleasure outside of us such as alcohol to feel good, compulsive shopping to cope from stress, food addiction to feel full and botox to feel pretty
.
Dvesah (avoidance) is in one of it's highest forms right now as we are sucked into reality shows and social media watching others live their well-scripted lives instead of going out and creating our lives
.
Abhinivesha (fear, clinging to life) tells every cell that we must survive, but we all know that survival is for a limited time and there will be an end to life as we know it. When we trust the truth that our spirit and souls will live on after our physical bodies go back to the earth, then we can begin to be ok with life and the ending of the life of ourselves and family and friends
.
Yoga offers us many ways to witness, feel and explore the klesha on the mat in order to live freer, happier and loving lives.

The third yama is asteya: non-stealing towards all living things. 
Our minds may go straight to actual theft, which is definitely included... But it is a bit more deeper than that. 
Remember, this step comes after satya, truthfulness, and ahimsa, non-violence. 
Asteya is about not taking from others, earning what you receive, and taking only what is given to you. Asteya reminds you not to overindulge and to be generous. When I was in India, my guru Rahulji gave a really great example. Imagine there is a cookie jar and there are two cookies left. Technically, you would not be stealing if you ate both, but you could save one for someone else because it would be the right thing to do. Also, if you give something to someone, you do so without the expectation of receiving something. 
Another way of stealing could be when you cut someone off when they speak; stealing their right to speak in that moment. 
Remember, with everything comes balance. You can give and give, but make sure there is a balance. Receiving is also a part of giving. It is a part of culture to be respectful by accepting gifts that have been given to you. 
It is all about respecting others and respecting yourself; do not allow others to steal from you, whichever way that may be, whether it may be stealing time, resources, or even your peace of mind.. and make sure you extend the same respect to others! 🙏

The practice of purifying the mind is about releasing old thought patterns.

If you can clear away thoughts that are negativity, angry or mean toward ourselves or others then the mind is clearer for the inner focus. Contentment is sattvic happiness that does not depend on external objects, this happiness is inherent in the mind when it is tranquil. Be happy with “What is.”
Currently, Asana Selfies are at an all time high and “selfie” postings in 2016 was noted in a paper about Narcissism influencing self-posting was at 93 million per day. Which notes the lack of “self” contentment in our society. The reason I share this is because I assist people with very serious illnesses and those who are dying. Those who are getting ready to exit their body...Naturally stop using all technology (phones, TVs, SM, computers, etc.)
Each person I assist near their death gateway is quickly faced with the truth that they must exit their body with only ‘self’. It does not matter what story you told about yourself what really matters in that moment... are you content with you?

ASTEYA means non-stealing.
It is the 3rd Yama, or ethical guideline (how to treat others) of Patanjali’s 8 limbs of Yoga.

Obviously as full grown adults we all know it isn’t ok to take what doesn’t belong to you. DUH.

But if you really think about it we have been taking ever since we landed on this earth. Air, water, food; but do these ressources really belong to us? We have been tricked into thinking that some of these things are actually “ours” because someone has put a pretty packaging on it and we have used our hard earned money to buy it. But if you think about it, are they really ours to take? Now you might be thinking; Ok but if I am following this logic, even the air that I breathe doesn’t belong to me. Of course the solution isn’t to hold your breath until you pass out. Sri Swami Satchidananda puts it this way:

“Whose air do we breathe? It is nature’s. But that doesn’t mean we should stop breathing and die. Instead we should receive each breath with reverence and use it to serve others; then we are not stealing. If we accept it and don’t give anything in return, we are thieves.”

Asteya reminds all of us that there needs to be a restored balance between what we take and what we put back out there.

And it isn’t just about stealing material things, you should be just as careful with someone’s time or energy. To not steal anyone’s joy with your envious thoughts, to not steal anyone’s time when you are always late (guilty as charged 🙈) or to not steal anyones pride when you speak over them and chime in with your own story.

In a nutshell: Give back. Make every breath count and be grateful for the enormous abundance you possess.

At a quick glance, I do pretty well on making sure I don’t steal others’ time and I definitely don’t take their property, intellectual, physical, or otherwise. I make an effort to be quick in responding when scheduling any type of meeting, including lunch and fun times. I strive to show up 15 minutes early to setup and be present for anything I’m attending.

As for not stealing from myself... this is what I’ve dedicated the month of December to. I’ve retired  spending time hanging out in negative thoughts.

I’m setting myself up for success every morning and creating a weekly routine in which I thrive in. I meditate and journal every morning, and write things “I am”, such as, “I am worthy of happiness”. If you’d like to see these, I’m posting journal snips on my story everyday for this month only.

I no longer steal my inner peace and happiness. That’s a fun awareness to have. 🥰 Also, my dog looks concerned. She’s always near me, watching over me.

In my life I try to examine my desires and wants to make sure I am not falling into the trap of greed. I try to practice being self sufficient and maintaining a faith in myself and my abilities to create what I need when I need. I am already whole and enough is a #mantra that I use to practice this. I practice #minimalism and try not to hoard things. Nothing in this life is mine.

Day 3 - #soyyogachallenge  #asteya  #nonstealing  In my life I try to examine my desires and wants to make sure I am not falling into the trap of greed. I try to practice being self sufficient and maintaining a faith in myself and my abilities to create what I need when I need. I am already whole and enough is a #mantra  that I use to practice this. I practice #minimalism  and try not to hoard things. When we speak of non-stealing this doesn't just mean the physical. This can also mean being #timely so that you do not #steal #time from others. This can mean giving due credit for #ideas or pieces of #work that another has done. Maybe not #stealing your #peace by feeding negative #thoughts... What does this mean to you? What are some ways that you practice #non-stealing?

Os animais selvagens só caçam quando têm fome e quando querem comer. Eles não vão caçar ou morder alguém sem prazer. Mas os seres humanos fazem isso. Eles vão caçar sem nenhuma razão. Uma serpente come um rato por mês e isso é tudo. Ela dorme pelo resto do mês. Apenas um rato por mês é suficiente. Embora seja assustadora e perigosa, ela pode engolir uma cabra ou comer algo maior, ela pode ficar vários meses sem fazer nada. Ela não vai ferir ou matar nenhum outro animal.

Mas os seres humanos, em nome de Deus, em nome do amor, se matam entre si. A violência insensata prevalece no mundo em nome de um país, em nome de uma religião, em nome de uma raça.

Não se come dinheiro, não se leva nada após a morte, nem seu próprio corpo. 
Busquemos mais luz e alimento para a alma.

FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 “Idam Agnaye Na Mama”! Shri Agni, the fire of the Almighty takes everything offered to it! Fires do not discriminate what they’ll burn and what it will not burn ! Fires take everything ! Agni will bless you with warmth & comfort or wrath you with ashes !  December brings me to the focus of charity and Asteya (non stealing). Be charitable with your heart .. Give Yoga gifts for the Holiday Season rather than items that will be left to collect dust. ... Give out extra dose of Love & Compassion to those who are lost and feeling down this month because they have no one to love them or buy them Gifts! Do not steal other people’s stuff or ideas! Use your heart chakra to be the role model of Love and your throat chakra to speak your truth, communicate well, give credit where due, speak kind loving words, pray using the Vishuddha Chakra and get everything off your chest (Fire Chakra - Mani Pura - Solar Plexus) before this year ends. 
The sky is very active at the moment ! Lots and lots of emotions are up in the year.  People get more stressed during this time of the year. So either meditate on your ManiPura chakra and imagine a real live fire at your centre burning away all your stress points, hurts, disappointments and betrayal. Let the fire in your heart bring you more towards your higher self and Goodness. 
This month in my classes we are doing many exciting backbends so that we can really, REALLY get into that stagnate space between the navel and heart or heart and throat. Backbends automatically brings you towards a more charitable nature due to the Anahata chakra being more forced to open up! So.. open up about your feelings, communicate it all out and then let it burn into ashes done and dusted.  Try not to take it with you into 2019! Also in my classes we shall be emphasising on carrying out more kind acts this month. Hopefully it sticks, becomes a habit well into the next year and beyond.
