Тело у нас  адаптивное, у кого-то больше, у кого-то меньше, и если заниматься, то всё придёт. Не надо себе ставить сроки -  просто делать, просто наслаждаться практикой на том уровне, на котором она есть. И здесь становится неважно, насколько глубоко вы можете войти в асану, если у вас правильное дыхание, плавные движения, если вы делаете асаны старательно, но без надрыва, если вам удаётся отвлечь внимание от повседневности и сконцентрироваться на самой практике, быть здесь и сейчас.

The risk here and what many beginners do is to pull with the hands towards the legs, trying to get the head as close to the knees as possible. I know from personal experience that this can lead to serious hamstring injuries and other types of injuries. Only by using the Udiyana bandha (our lower belly muscles) we can make sure that not only we are safe in this asana, but we also progress much better and faster. Once we can relax in this pose it actually becomes very pleasant, a welcoming release of the lower back especially after doing back bends.

In #AshtangaMondays we are now slowing down into the finishing sequence, starting with five different kinds of shoulderstands. Take your time, and slow down your breathing in these postures.

Starting with Salamba Sarvangasana, stay for between 10 to 25 deep breaths. Lower your legs into halasana, stay for 8 to 10 deep breaths. Then lower your knees and squeeze the inner knees to your ears. This is karnapidasana. Stay 8 to 10 deep breaths. Then bring your legs up again and fold into urdhva Padmasana. If lotus isnt available , just cross the legs hand keep your arms straight. Stay 8 to 10 deep breaths. And then rounding the spine lower down and take hold of your wrist or fingers into pindasana. Breathe 8 to 10 times.

If you have to shorten your practice, try to still make time for the finishing postures. I promise your body and mind will be very very thankful during the day and tomorrow🙏

In 2003 I walked into a Gym yoga class after a workout expecting very little more than a stretch of my muscles, some relaxing music and a nice time aha...I had been to one yoga class a year or so prior and it was very gentle and well honestly boring to me.  This class touted to be a challenge and to be prepared to sweat.  I was totally curious how it would be so different because isn't Yoga just Yoga, haha.

To my surprise, this class would change my life forever!  It was a modified version of Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series with the breathing and the pace and the Sanskrit and all the things!  I was totally in love from the very first class and over 15 years later I am still in love with this practice.  I clearly learned that day that not all yoga is created equal, there are many different styles, many different types of teachers and I was just lucky enough to stumble upon this practice at the most perfect time in my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm waking up immensely grateful to have this practice as a tool for my life, thankful I get to teach it for a living, overjoyed by what daily practice has given me through the years and excited for the next 15 years with my mat.

When you do Prasarita Padottanasana A mindfully, it stretches your hamstrings, calves, and hips; strengthens your feet, ankles, and legs; and builds awareness of how to protect your lower back. This pose is also a mild inversion, as it lowers your head and heart below your hips. The combination of the inverted shape and the forward fold tends to bring a wonderful feeling of calmness. Finally, this pose will build strength in your shoulders and upper back, and it will give length and ease to your neck muscles. If you have tight hamstrings or hips, this pose will require a bit more skill and patience. Tight hamstrings will make it difficult for you to fold very far before your lower back begins to round. If this happens to you, bend your knees slightly to ease the stretch on your hamstrings so that you can keep your low back long and fold forward from your hip joints. 👊  This seems like forever far away!!! Today it's a storm and raining cats & dogs (actually the last thing doesn't sound so bad). I'm stuck with the flu,headache and whatever but of course I'm going to work late night shift.I felt totally lost and sorry for myself last night and went to bed at nine pm with my cat.My whole family is also involved in this state of mine since I am (my sons words) a drama queen and should really have been an actress.I need to soak it up today and message my family members that nothing is on fire and that I'm still alive ....😅🙈 #drama .

The GURU 
This was a special moment, at the feet of the GURU. At first it felt a bit strange to do this….. but hey!…. it is the GURU of my daily practice! And Ashtanga Yoga changed my body and my being! So I am proud of this foto! And also of the next one with our Balinese ashtangi-gang!( lilik is missing😢)
R. Sharath Jois is teacher, practitioner and lineage holder (paramaguru) of Ashtanga Yoga, in the tradition of K. Pattabhi Jois. According to religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, the greatness of a lineage is highly dependant upon the guru parampara. "Я ем тишину ложками"...
Когда нам кажется, что мы контролируем свои органы чувств и можем "погрузиться в себя", это, на самом деле, иллюзия... Наше тело реагирует на внешние сигналы хотим мы того или нет... и в то же время, наше тело, наш ум нуждаются в отсутствии этих сигналов хотя бы иногда.
"Главная проблема шума в том, что его невозможно игнорировать. В человеке заложена необходимость на него реагировать. Звуковые волны вызывают вибрацию в крошечных цепочках костей, и она передается в наше среднее ухо, после чего физические вибрации превращаются в электрические импульсы, а те, в свою очередь, отправляются прямо в слуховые зоны коры головного мозга. Тело немедленно отвечает на этот сигнал, даже во время сна. Люди, продолжительное время живущие в окружении шума, к примеру в больших городах постоянно испытывают высокий уровень беспокойства из-за повышенного количества гормонов стресса... Шум вредит телу и заставляет кипеть ум. Чтобы изменить что-то вам даже не нужна абсолютная тишина... достаточно проводить некоторое время в городском парке. Но делать это нужно часто".
Говорят, даже 15 минут в таком парке (лесу) каждый день снижают нашу ежедневную "шумовую нагрузку"... сегодня после практики я пошла гулять в лес, на улице -15 и я решила, что 15 минут мне вполне хватит, чтобы не умереть от холода и насладиться тишиной. Потом я решила запечатлеть это для истории... потом увидела разных птиц, потом белок, которые играли, а заметив меня побежали на верхние ветки и обсыпали сверху снегом. Итого получилось пол часа. Звуки, которые я слышала в это время: скрип снега, шелест веток и чириканье птиц...Тишина леса, наложенная, на мою тишину после практики.⬇️
