When I started to practice ashtanga, I had the flexibility of a wooden trunk. Through all these years my body changed; became younger, stronger, more elastic and flexible. 
One funny thing that comes to my mind each time when I practice backbends -  despite that most of the years i have been practicing alone at home, when I practice dropbacks I always hear in my head the voice of my teacher Sharathji screaming “walk! Walk more!” Luckily I don’t hear him yelling to catch my ankles. Patanjali mentions that #sleep is also one of the states of mind- #Samadhipada 1.10-
❤️❤️❤️Abhava pratyaya alambana vritti Nidra ❤️❤️❤️- meaning "Sleep is the vibrational mode which is supported by the absence of objective awareness "- In simple words, it doesn't involve any of the 5 senses. And in spite of this, you still are able to tell - if you had a good, bad or an ok ok sleep! Wonder how?!
Also, ever thought how it would be to enter into sleep mode, inward all senses (#pratayahara) when in an asana , yet be aware of whats going on in your body and mind?.....

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog) is probably one of the most widely recognised yoga poses as it is one of the foundation poses and repeted many  during vinyasa. It offers a deep stretch for the hamstrings, shoulders, calves, arches, hands, and spine while building strength in the arms, shoulders, and legs. Try to bring the heels down on the grown (bend the knees if needed) and keep the shoulders open and strees free as you push your weight towards your heels.

Este sábado 23 de junio daremos inicio a un nuevo proyecto en la que compartiremos una práctica de Ashtanga Yoga impartida por Elías, seguiremos con una charla sobre Yoga impartida por Nityananda Das y finalizaremos con un Kirtan.

Este proyecto se basa en la idea de compartir con los demás algo tan Sagrado como es el Yoga desde el respeto y la humildad hacia todos.

Breve explicación de la práctica de Ashtanga:

El Ashtanga Yoga trata la práctica de asana (asiento para la conciencia) drsti (focalización de la mirada) bhandas (cierres o sellos energéticos) pranayama (control de la respiración) y vinyasa (sincronización de respiración y movimiento). Realizaremos la Primera serie de un total de seis, a esta Primera serie se le conoce como Yoga-Cikitsa ( yoga terapéutico). Contiene una secuencia de asanas que eliminan del cuerpo las enfermedades y desarrollan un cuerpo fuerte y sano, gracias a esto el cuerpo vuelve a su estado natural de fuerza, flexibilidad, equilibrio y relajación, a la vez alivia el dolor crónico, elimina el exceso de grasa, mejora la circulación sanguínea y depura los órganos internos y a la vez desarrolla la capacidad de enfocar la mente.

El creador del Ashtanga Yoga SRI K. Pattabhi Jois decía que el Ashtanga Yoga es un camino que nos conduce a nuestro espíritu, a nuestra verdadera esencia.

El único objetivo de estos encuentros es la de reunirse y compartir con los demás, sin ningún ánimo de lucro, el donativo es tan solo para los gastos. No somos una escuela de formación ni tampoco somos un centro de Yoga pero si personas con tradición en la práctica que sentimos realmente Prema (amor) por ella.
En los encuentros participaran voluntariamente diferentes personas con más de treinta años de experiencia en Yoga.

Tenemos muchas ganas de compartir algo tan especial como es la práctica de Yoga.

Los únicos requisitos son:
-Venir con ganas de PRACTICAR.
-Venir con ganas de APRENDER.
-Venir con ganas de COMPARTIR. ¡Ven a compartir con nosotros!

Life has been so up and down recently with extreme highs and fairly extreme lows. Normally you guys all see the highs or then I won't post anything which is generally an indication of a low. I don't post about the hard times much, not because I want you all to think my life is perfect, but because it's just more personal and when things get tough I prefer to take that time to focus on what really matters and frankly Instagram really isn't on that list 🤣 but I felt a shift yesterday and this morning during my practice... I'm ready to hit the reset button. Ready to move forward with more care, more love and more ease. My intention for this week is to flow more freely and give up control that's not mine to hold. Ready to find out where this leads me... 💙 
For now at least, even though I have my ashtanga game face on in the photo, I am smiling inside and out. 💙 Namaste and happy Monday! -

Every morning I climb these stairs and as each one takes me higher the more of my own baggage I leave behind in order to serve others well.The step to the wooden studio floor signifies my ego dissolving and being in complete service in the present moment to everyone on the Shala. Some days my baggage grows legs and creeps up, and in those moments my Mysore crewmdem has my back as much as I've had there's over the years. Truly blessed  to create a sense of harmony, understanding and patience between us all in that room... Sometimes there are laughs, sometimes there are tears but always, always, always there is patience and persistence to garner a better understanding of ourselves. Love my job. Even if early mornings are a killer that I'll never get used to!!

Which is the essence of Vinyasa. Every movement to enter or leave the posture, as discrete it may be, is as important than the posture. Don’t be in a hurry when transitioning, pay attention as well to alignment, strength & grace, breathing for it is the heart of Yoga.
✨ I’ve been working on moving like this from Adho Mukha Svanasana to Bakasana for 5 months and just started to feel the floating moment even if it feels like bumping most of the time 😅 A lot of practice is still needed here to find balance between effort and comfort, but I’m now honoring as much the in betweens than the postures 🧘‍♀️
