Hi friends!

Rolled my mat out to go for forearm inversion practice. To be honest, hollow backs have made me really uncomfortable in past but since November, I made sure to go on my forearms everyday. Even if I am not going for full on practice, pincha has always been on my mind. Here is my baby hollow back and first unsupported one for me. I missed you all and I'm on your beautiful posts tonight.

To enter the pose, squat with the feet slightly less than shoulder-width apart. Tilt the pelvis forward so the torso dips between the legs. Straighten the legs to lift the pelvis to knee height, then slide the upper arms and shoulders behind the thighs. Place the palms on the floor outside of the feet, then lift the feet off the floor. Extend the legs, stretching them upward as the arms straighten.

Practicing firefly pose can work wonders for an individual's balance and core strength. The health benefits of the pose include:

Strengthens the shoulders, arms and wrists. Improves balance. Opens the hips. Stretches inner groin. Tones abdominal organs and improves function.

Firefly pose can be quite challenging for beginners. These individuals should practice the pose slowly, straightening the legs as much as possible. Even if the pose can only be held for a few seconds at first, the duration will increase as the practitioner gains balance.

Last night I dreamt that I was teaching the test class at the end of my 500 hrs training and I forgot the words to the chant I was planning on singing, but there was a 15 minute break in-between the first and second half so I could google it in the meantime (oof!). I have always had failure dreams similar to this one. Be it before I have to catch a plane (suitcase doesn’t close, ergo I can’t make it to the airport on time) or before an exam (I get locked into the bathroom during my German Abitur). Still working on making my subconscious more of an optimist, but the good news is: Nothing has ever gone wrong like this, so I guess I can say confidently that you should come to my (test) classes this week and you’ll have a great experience because I WON’T forget the words to the chant (neither will there be a 15 minute break, in case you were excited about that!). Can’t wait to teach again after a week of renovations at Peace Yoga ♥️📷 @lydiahersberger

Dirigido a Docentes de Yoga, Practicantes con 2 años de experiencia mínima, Docentes en el área de educación física/técnicas corporales y Maestros y Profesores de Colegios.
Aprenderán múltiples herramientas a fin de poder planificar y dar clases lúdicas que nutran a los niños y los ayude a desarrollar su potencial.
CUPOS LIMITADOS – RESERVA TU ESPACIO
El curso consta de dos encuentros en un fin de semana (sábado por la tarde y domingo mañana y tarde) un total 8 horas intensas de clase (donde daremos tareas y trabajos para realizar entre encuentro y encuentro para optimizar el tiempo).
En base a nuestra experiencia en el trabajo con niños y yoga, daremos lineamientos teóricos y mayormente prácticos para que cada uno pueda planificar y dar sus propias clases de yoga para niños.
Los objetivos del taller son:
🙏Contribuir a la Formación de Profesores de Yoga en la Especialización de Yoga para Niños.
🙏 Brindar información específica relacionado con la pedagogía, el yoga y el niño.
🙏 Proporcionar un espacio creativo de elaboración, trabajo y producción en lo que a yoga niños refiere.
🙏Que cada uno encuentre “su propia forma de transmitir yoga para niños”.
🙏 Proveer herramientas concretas (teórica-practica) para armar su propio camino y experiencia.
Metodología: Mediante clases teórico practicas que aporten bases solidas para llevar a cabo la planificación y producción de yoga para niños.

Aprenderán múltiples herramientas a fin de poder planificar y dar clases lúdicas que nutran a los niños y los ayude a desarrollar su potencial. CUPOS LIMITADOS – RESERVA TU ESPACIO El curso consta de dos encuentros en un fin de semana (sábado por la tarde y domingo mañana y tarde) un total 8 horas intensas de clase (donde daremos tareas y trabajos para realizar entre encuentro y encuentro para optimizar el tiempo). En base a nuestra experiencia en el trabajo con niños y yoga, daremos lineamientos teóricos y mayormente prácticos para que cada uno pueda planificar y dar sus propias clases de yoga para niños. Getting back into my old routine. I work on flexibility and  back bends on the weekends. I feel like I have more time to really get into it. However I’m feeling during the week is what I tend to do. Abs and arms  via my 12lb weights, mostly. I’m meditating more, which is nice. Two minutes everyday for the past two weeks. It’s been a challenge, getting into that state of stillness, being present but I’m getting there. Spending the remainder of my Sunday working on splits and rewatching game of thrones for the umpteenth time, because why not!??

This used to bother me, because Yoga truly is SO MUCH more than the postures—- but then I remember that at least it’s something 💁🏼‍♀️
Even if we have no idea that the practice will eventually lead to a deeper awakening... it will. It’s like a fun spiritual sneak attack 🤘🏼

•••Yoga - Asana••• One, of 8 beautiful limbs we practice to wake up to the reality of our Soul. Asana, or “posture” is the most popular yoga practice in the west... clearly. We see it saturating the Instagram world! This used to bother me, because Yoga truly is SO MUCH more than the postures—- but then I remember that at least it’s something 💁🏼‍♀️ Even if we have no idea that the practice will eventually lead to a deeper awakening... it will. It’s like a fun spiritual sneak attack 🤘🏼 . . . So keep practicing my friends. Keep showing up, moving, breathing, and staying curious about what’s going on in your inner world. Things will start to shift, stir, and align- especially if that is our Intent! . . . In the meantime- the other 8 limbs of yoga are: Yamas: restraints or ethical standards.. nonviolence, truthfulness, nonstealing, self discipline/ continence, non possessiveness. . . . Niyamas: spiritual observances so to speak- cleanliness, contentment, spiritual austerity, study of sacred texts, surrender to God. . . . Asana: the postures :) . . . Pranayama: breath control :) . . . Pratyahara: withdrawal of the senses :) . . . Dharana: sincere concentration :) . . . Dhyana: meditation, uninterrupted contemplation :) . . . #mymindmyyoga day 7. I was so nervous about joining this challenge. My heart is hypersensitive to stories and knowledge of loss through suicide as it is something that has deeply affected my life. I wasn’t entirely sure if I’d be able to handle so much exposure to this exhausting, uncomfortable subject. I’m happy to report that this challenge has been a wonderful opportunity for growth and healing.

I wanted to share a poem I found a couple of years ago that resonates deeply with me regarding the grieving process:

I had my own notion of grief.
I thought it was the sad time
That followed the death of someone you love.
And you had to push through it
To get to the other side.
But I'm learning there is no other side.
There is no pushing through.
But rather,
There is absorption.
Adjustment.
Acceptance.
And grief is not something you complete,
But rather, you endure.
Grief is not a task to finish
And move on,
But an element of yourself-
An alteration of your being.
A new way of seeing.
A new definition of self. -Gwen Flowers

MIGRAINES: A very common ailment many people are suffering from today. Learn how to heal migraines the natural way.
In Ayurveda, two conditions, known as Ardhaavabheda (half-sided headache) and Anantavaata (meaning literally the unilateral pain) resemble the classic migraine. It can be triggered by large number of factors such as anger, frustration, depression, conflict, indigestion, a particular food and even weather. Some blood pressure or asthma medicines can also cause migraine. You will have to observe for yourself as to what triggers your migraine. Whatever the reason, in most cases of migraine, it’s the aggravated pitta dosha that is at the root of the problem. Pitta dosha impairs digestion and the ama produced by this gets stored in the manovah strotras (mind channels) and causes migraine.

To avoid migraines, avoid excesses of any kind. Your lifestyle should reflect ‘ati sarvatra varjayeth’ or moderation in all things. Avoid quick fix painkillers because they aggravate the problem and once their effect wears off the frequency of headaches starts to increase plus then you don’t look for its triggers and get caught in a vicious cycle of pain and pills. Instead, for some quick relief lie down quietly in a dark room and put an ice pack on your neck and/or forehead and temples. You can also crush some ginger and apply its paste on your forehead.

For some more relief take the extract of the juice of giloy (tinospora cordifolia) and have it with 1tsp of honey. Otherwise take three grams of coriander seeds, five grams of lavender flowers, five seeds of black pepper, and five almonds. Make sure you soak the almonds overnight in water and remove the skin before preparing the paste. Grind with water, sieve, and take before sunrise.

Doing Nadi Shodhan Pranayama will definitely reduce the frequency of your headaches. Taad asan, Nauka asan, Sarp asan and Bhujang asan are some asans that will help. Forward and backward bending asans should not be done as they increase pitta and the blood flow to the head.

PURPLE SHIRT

I teach yoga, do personal training. I wear t-shirts and shorts almost exclusively. I was told, "If there's something in your closet that you haven't worn for a year--throw it out!" It was about 360 days since I wore this shirt for the Purple People Eaters Celebrity March and didn't want to throw it out so I put it on the other day.

I've been holding onto a pair of Huggies diapers for decades using this "wear it once a year" theory. Let's just say the look I am given when I answer the question, "Is that a diaper in your pants or are you happy to see me?" is priceless!

Finishing up the fall season of @breatheforchange today feels so bitter sweet.  While laying in bed past 5 am on a weekend sounds like a dream, a shift in my routine during the holiday season can often bring stress and anxiety. Knowing exactly what I have to do and when I have to do it brings stability to what can often be a chaotic existence, and I’m making sure I’m creating opportunities to bring as much love and joy as I can into my life.  I’m publicly declaring my intentions to close out this year in the most body and soul-nourishing way possible and I would love company. Pose of the Week: Sukhasana (easy pose) with Garuda (eagle) arms.

A pleasant stretch for the hips, knees and ankles. Don't let the name fool you, for many of used to sitting on chairs and fluffy coaches this seated position is far from easy. Be sure to keep a straight spine; place rolled blankets under your knees if they are very high.

Add a shoulder and upper back stretch to this by including Eagle arms. Reach arms straight in front of you at shoulder level, cross one arm over the other at the elbow. I looove sleeping as long as possible in the morning - so developing a morning routine has really been a challenge. Instead I have a bedtime routine! This routine consist of a few light stretches, lemon water, ginger tea with honey and time to wind down and write in my journal. Its a great way to calm the mind before going to sleep 🌙
