Starting a new #selfportrait on the vellum bristol board I bought. It’s such an awesome surface for the colored pencils, I love it! Trying to be more confident about going in with the #coloredpencil first, so the colors come out more brilliant and vivid.
Advert | Have you all your Christmas gifts packed and finished to present or are you still looking and trying to find your way through the crazy crowds? 😅
I always find it funny that some people are in there best mood around Christmas and others are in there worst, unfriendly and unhelpful mood. It seems like we have some real grinch’s under us 😬 🤣
As that said I wish you a wonderful weekend and most of all “kind people” because that’s what we need! Love to you all 😘

It’s been a while since I have immersed myself in this kind of work. For the longest time I stayed away from it because it brought up memories and feelings that made me feel uncomfortable and unworthy. I went to an amazing secondary school that doesn’t exist anymore and when I tell people about it it sounds unbelievable. I had several hours of studio time everyday. Life drawing, oil painting and learning about the old masters. My mentor was a dramatic and elegant Scottish woman. She told me that I would never be an artist and I believed her. She didn’t intend to scar me. Big exhale. .
That was more than 20 years ago
When I did begin painting again, I explored the abstract because it was different form what I learned. I could break all the rules and invent new ones. .
I am strong enough to be vulnerable
