Bethany Kenyon works with combinations of figuration and abstraction to bring forward various emotions and a powerful sense of personhood in the portraits she creates. She has a fascination with self portraits, which are worked out in the vivid, richness of oil painting which is her medium of choice.
Don't miss Bethany's portrait paintings on Friday September 28th, 7pm @theCottonFactory.

AUTUMN | As much as my first response to the calendar end of summer was “Nooooooooo!” the cooler temperatures made for a very nice hike today. I am endlessly inspired by the tiny and vast in nature and thankful for the starting point these leaves gave me.
On the way to art studio in sunny, green La Quinta. First day of my new job in Old Town Art Studios. Pls join me and get your hands dirty with clay! I am going to create many hands-on ceramic art and pottery making classes and workshops. Check it out: https://oldtownartisanstudios.org/
SIMPLIFY | I have been frustrated with the overworked bits in my recent paintings. It is not impossible, but it is a little more difficult to unring that bell. As an antidote, I decided to explore simple washes of color. It was an exploration in simplicity to see how much emotion I could evoke with light washes of color. Painting without a definite plan always helps me recover a bit of freedom.
