“you’ve got to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions or else you’ll loose yourself everytime.”
Honestly, this a daily struggle for me (especially around that time of the month 😑) I’ve learned that having constant awareness and the honing my ability to identify what is emotion/what is real 100% is key. We have to take control of our minds and be extremely picky about what thoughts we choose to entertain. #guardyourmind
The culinary geniuses of @bestiadtla opened the sequel @baveldtla in the heart of the @artdistrictlosangeles. Paying tribute to their family lineages, the menu focuses on Middle Eastern cuisine. We dived in head first by getting our pita on. Dipping robotically into a puddle of green and red chili paste on top of hummus. If you are hungry, I recommend ordering a plate of this for yourself. With an appreciation of seafood and spiciness, the next two dishes stole the show for me. Contestant No.1: Scallop crudo; an island of scallop sashimi surrounded by pomegranate molasses infused with citrus and serrano chili oil was so refreshing I sneaked in a few more bites than my neighbors. I typically don’t eat shrimp due to allergies, but I made an exception. Contestant No. 2: Grilled shrimp marinated in a harissa chili paste (made from Maghrebi hot chili pepper) had a level of spiciness that was welcoming. Can vegetables taste this good all the time. The oyster mushroom kebab was grilled to perfection with a slight crispiness on the edges of the mushroom leaves to go with the lovage (celery tasting) sauce. The main event goes to the slow roasted lamb neck shawarma. Super duper tender lamb meat that just fell effortlessly off the bone. You’ll also find some fatty marrow if you dig deep into the bone. I’ll also add it came with some of the best pickled turnip you’ll ever crunch on. The chefs always do an amazing job with the pickled vegetables. These dishes most certainly deserve a KTL ‘10’ rating 🙌🏻. DTLA has a new player in town. Welcome!!! What a pleasant way of kicking off the birthday festivities. #middleeasternfood#dtla#goodeats#hummus#lamb#shawarma#artdistrictla#goodtimes#KTLrating
