Our time back in the states has gone by SUPER fast! And if we’re honest, it’s been pretty high stress. It’s been hard coming back here for three months, knowing it couldn’t look like a vacation, but had to have work tied in with visiting friends and family. Balance is hard to find, and we truthfully haven’t done a good job finding it. 😕
When our computer broke, we were forced to take some time off and God used that time to intervene and teach us a thing or two. He’s speaking to us about the importance of working hard when the time’s right, but taking it easy too. ♥️
We’re only in the states for 19 more days, and we’re determined to make the most of it, to escape the stress, and enjoy the little moments like #ghoststories around the #campfire ! 🏕
If you’re in #southernOregon , let us know if you want to meet up before we head back to #Europe on the 25th! 🛫
On my bike ride today, I came to a complete stop and fell right on over…Like literally slow-mo straight to the ground, bike and all. I’d love to say this is my first time doing that, but it’s actually my second 🤦🏻♀️.
I couldn’t get unclipped in time. The clips that make my rides just a bit easier, are the same ones that drug me right to the ground.
I think it paints a pretty good picture of life in general. Sometimes things are great, and even beneficial to hold on to, but often times letting go of something allows you to live a life that’s full of life... does that even make sense?!? .
What is it that you’re holding onto today, that maybe just maybe, if you let go of, could change your life forever?! .
Finding joy in the little things.. like ice cream, there’s always joy found in ice cream! ;) 🍨
Fun Fact… When we booked our trip to #Prague , we purposely tacked on an extra day after our friends flew out to spend a day just the two of us in the city. We’re realizing more and more these days that time alone together is crucial for our relationship.
Not so Fun Fact… We’ve been pretty high stress lately. With more and more people telling us what they think we should be doing at this point in our lives, we’re feeling the pressure from the outside world to conform to how we’re “supposed to be living”. It’s the little comments and remarks people, potentially unknowingly, make that are shooting our dreams and joy out the window. BUT… when we take time to sit back and talk freely, openly, and honestly with each other about our dreams, fears, and beliefs in the Lord’s plan for our lives, we feel so much more grounded and find our joy and dreams surfacing again! .
So, this little snippet of joy found in eating ice cream together is here to encourage you to chase your dreams and find your joy without worrying about how other people feel you should be living your life! And just think, what would be different in your life now if you pursued your dreams unashamed of what other people think!? .
When your friends are on a year long trip and are only a few countries over, you book flights and go spend the week with them! Naturally, our first night together was spent at a tradition #Czech#beerhall , indulging in the local #Pilsner , #praguegrub , and so much laughter! So, so thankful for this lifestyle we’ve been blessed with and the ability to drop it all and just hop over to new places to meet up with old friends! .
We met Jack (not pictured) and Michelle back in 2015 when cycling from Seattle to San Francisco as #theskinnywheels , and have since stayed in touch. They’re full of energy, love, and fun.. and man, they’re just the best. They’re out exploring the world on a year long trip, if you want to follow along with their journey head over to @mischasworld! .
People often ask us how we “afford to travel”. And we’ve gotta say, it’s not about “affording it”, it’s about moving around your money so you can go. When we went to #brussels , we knew we didn’t have much room in our budget for an extravagant celebratory weekend, so we moved our money around the best we could to be able to enjoy a weekend away. ✨ We packed breakfast, lunch, and dinner, bought beer from the store to drink in the park instead of at a restaurant, and took full advantage of our free hotel night. And just when we thought our weekend away couldn’t be more “affordable”, we were blessed with the #weekendfare train tickets which literally cut the price in half! 😱 If you don’t think you can “afford to travel”, we truly believe anyone can, and who knows maybe if you just take the leap you’ll be blessed with some discounted fares too! 📥 Drop us an message to get your next trip planned! #arboursabroad
The day that I had to leave Edinburgh without my copilot was probably one of the hardest days of my life. Heather was going back to the states for 3.5 weeks. We hadn’t been away from each other for more than a night since we go married four years earlier. And we literally hadn’t been away from each other for more than a few hours over the course of two years. So you could imagine how difficult it was for us. I had to continue school in St. Andrews while heather did wedding stuff in Oregon. Life went on...being depressed. -
