Something I often heard when training clients was 'I can't do [insert exercise]' but when asked how many times they had tried it was usually only once or twice. The secret to improving is continually failing; it is how we learn. Think about how many times a baby has to fall over before it learns to walk - if that baby gave up as easily as some adults do it would never learn to walk!
The word 'failure' is often associated with negative emotions but the most successful people usually fail more often than they succeed but we only celebrate their success so you seldom hear how long it took to get the success from repeated attempts/failures. If you want to change something you need to accept that failure is part of the learning process and should not be feared. When you first start out at the gym it is likely you will be doing exercises that you have either a) never done before or b) are not very skillful at (or even both!) ENDURE! Keep persevering and eventually that task you found difficult will slowly become a skill you take for granted.

A great quote to remember; it is always hard starting a new task in unfamiliar surroundings and situations but persevere and when you eventually succeed you will be able to look back on those difficult times with a different perspective and will have developed both experience as well as the strength (mental or physical) to overcome future obstacles.
