OPERATION: Capture The Ants 🐜🐜🐜 Here is a little project Mr Henry and I have been working on for a few weeks and after a little coaxing we've finally captured a black ant (Lasius Niger) colony.
We've been wanting to do this for a while so we can study how an ant colony works and goes about its day to day life (nothing better for dad and lad than catching bugs 🐛🐜🐌🕷️)!!! No expense spared on the set up 😉... A cookie jar (there is an air tight lid out of shot) from a well known Swedish furniture shop and some bits from the garden... Total spend about £4 so there's some change for a beer 🍻 for me and a juice 🥤 for the little one to reward our efforts... Apperantly 'it's tough work this dad' 😂😂😂 The colony was caught by luring them with honey into a plant pot over a week or two so they are confined and easy to move. Transfered them into a sealed tub this afternoon ready to transfer the colony into their new home over the next few days 🏡
More to follow once the big move has started 👍
Haven't told Mrs A yet though so she may have other thoughts about our project so our plans may be scuppered but shhhh for now it's our little secret 🤐
1. I have no idea what this #bug is, but he was unperturbed by our soccer ball whizzing by him.
2. Ants...so many #ants . And they are all gone now, so I assume it was some form of nest being dug?
Amazing what you can see in your local #park#nofilter#nofilterneeded
