This is what happens when I made time to cook dinner before going out last night but didn't leave enough time to actually eat it.
Am I the only one who does this? When I lived in LA my roommates would always make fun of me for the bowls and spoons clanking around in my backseat from my oatmeal on the way to work. 😂😂😂 Dont worry mom I promise I only used the fork at red lights. 😇

It's been ONE YEAR since I started my candida journey on 7/10/17. What a crazy year it's been! I have lived an entire YEAR without a yeast infection! Before that, I was plagued with nearly monthly infections for 3+ years and was living with the worst immune system. I finally stopped waiting for doctors to help me and took control of my own health. On July 10, I started a new diet (I used the "ultimate candida diet" e-book). It was HARD AF. I spent a lot of last summer crying in grocery stores and feeling frustrated that I couldn't eat like everyone else. I followed the elimination diet strictly, and once I saw the effects, I decided to keep going. I continued being (mostly) gluten, refined sugar, dairy, alcohol, coffee, and soy free, and making adjustments to fit my life and travels when necessary. I followed a regimen of supplements and Chinese herbs that worked for my body. I finally didn't get sick when everyone around me caught colds and the flu (a first for me!). I continued the diet strictly for 7 months up until I found out that I was pregnant in Feb (when it all kind of went out the window tbh). I honestly credit my strengthened immune system for how I got pregnant so easily. Even in pregnancy I've remained healthy, avoiding colds and infections so far. 🤞
This past year was a rollercoaster ride. Each milestone taught me so much about my own inner strength. I am capable of much more than I had imagined and am incredibly proud when I look back at where I've been and how far I've come. THANK YOU to all of you who have shared this journey with me (Nearly 5k of you - What?!) 💕
Today, 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby, I feel stronger than ever and ready to take on anything!
If you've been plagued with candida and have been debating whether you can do this too - YOU CAN! If you need someone to talk to, please reach out. Pregnancy has left me replying to messages and comments slower than usual, but I'm here, and I want to help you ❤
Quinoa pizza muffins-- been making these for my granny this week and she loves them.
1 cup cooked quinoa
Italian herb seasoning
Louisiana hot pepper sauce
Optional: cheese slices
Stir the quinoa with the seasonings, stir in the eggs, and distribute in silicone muffin cups or a non-stick muffin pan.
Top with a drizzle of hot sauce (it's not actually hot, but intensely flavorful), and a slice of cheese on top if desired. Sprinkle with chives or parsley.
Bake @ 375C for about 12 minutes. Check if the edges are coming away from the mold and that the muffin has expanded a bit. When done, immediately remove and turn upside down to cool. Turn right side up and serve 😋
Starting the day right with hazelnut milk oats, cacao powder, Linwoods sunflower, flax and goji mix, and xylitol topped with raspberries! I have been eating more of my restricted foods now and seem to be doing ok! Although I notice a huge difference in myself after eating sugary things or the odd chocolate/sweet treat. It makes me feel a bit headachey, tired and gives me a bit of brain fog. Definitely going to have more sugar free days/weeks now as it makes me feel so much better. I am off out for the day today for early birthday celebrations! Sooo looking forward to some nice cocktails! 😁🍹🍸🥂 Happy weekend!! 😘🎉🎈🎂🍾 #AntiCandidaDiet#candida#sugarfree#porridge#birthdayweekend#healthygut
Starting a new journey today. 1 month of no sugars, grains, legumes and fruit. Yikes. I didn't realize how many products (even at whole foods) that have sugar as part of the ingredient list. Going to be a challenge but I'm glad we are in it together.
#weightlossmotivation - lost some weight this week climbing up to the refuge to deliver milk. #weighttraining with 12 kilos. I’m not promoting weight loss or a fixation with body size. Just that I have been lighter and I felt healthier and fitter and more energetic for it. And it helps #climbingtraining to not carry extra on your body. Now I know what those extra kilos feel like to carry and take off. I’m on the #anticandidadiet which has also helped. Again that for me is about restoring my #guthealth and #losingweight a happy consequence!! Yes I do still miss cheese, caffeine and red 🍷 but especially ☕️ - so ironic really to be carrying 🥛 up the #mountain
Day 1 of Anti-Candida diet! 😬
My body and my brain haven't been cooperating with me lately, so I've been trying this and that and I've come to the conclusion that underlying it all is a candida issue I need to resolve. Again. All evidence points in this direction, so I'm going with it, because I've had enough! Soft entry began today, full on #candidacleanse starts tomorrow. Doing intense, prolonged cleanses like this are certainly not fun, but the end results are so worth it... How do you know if you need to do a candida cleanse?
Any of the following symptoms are a clue: Fatigue, Yeast Infections, Joint Pain, Brain Fog, Frequent Colds, Oral Thrush, Headaches, Mood Swings, Dizziness, Itching, Acne, Sinus Congestion, Bloating & Gas, Weight Gain, Urinary Infections, Food Cravings, Irritability, Food Sensitivies, Insomnia, Abdominal Pain, Red, Itchy Eyes, Rashes, Psoriasis / Eczema, Allergies.
You certainly don't need to be experiencing all of these symptoms as once to have a candida issue – I'm def not thank goodness! But I can check off plenty of these issues to know that candida is the underlying issue. This is exactly what I'm talking about whenever I mention #guthealth .... our gut health impacts our whole system! An unbelievable number of health issues can be traced back to our gut health... and of course our eating patterns. Which is why I focus so much on anti-inflammatory eating (aka every recipe I post!) Turns out my roomie is experiencing the same issue, so I have a cleanse partner! We've been planning to do the cleanse for days, but just to be sure I did a saliva test this morning! (Gross I know but it works! 😆) How to do the saliva test: - Spit into a glass of water first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. - Wait a minimum of 15 minutes (and keep checking if nothing happens at first) to check whether the saliva stays on top of the water. - If it begins to 'grow' down into the water and you see little white fibers... yup that's candida.
If you think you might be experiencing a candida overgrowth of your own, stay tuned, and send me a message! I got you! #anticandidadiet#wegotthis#selfcaresunday#candidabegone
Week 7- Well I have had sugar like everyday since last Friday! 😂🙈 I just can't help myself! But I think I might have got 6 weeks without out of my system now. I plan to eat sugar free and yeast free through the week then eat what I fancy at weekends. This is leftover Moroccan turkey mince with wholegrain rice and parsley 😁 I ate a few sweets last night and I felt so crap after them! Its crazy how sugar makes u feel. Its a brief high then a sudden crash of tiredness! Definitely more sugar aware now!! #AntiCandidaDiet#Candida#Iwon#Sugarfree#yeastfree#cravings#balanceddiet#healthygut
Diet update: Today is DAY 50 (out of 60) and I’ll be honest, the frustration is setting in! I really hoped that by this point I would have seen a lot better results.
I am feeling some relief from my “lady problems”, but my skin hasn’t gotten any better and I am still sooooooo tired all the time, no matter how much I sleep (literally 9-10 hours for the past week).
I tried so hard to be optimistic but I think this diet is going to become just another addition to the list of (what feels like) hundreds of things I have tried to “fix myself”. More time, money and effort down the drain 😫
So I’ve decided to ease up a bit on the diet - it’s hard to keep the willpower up when I can see it just isn’t achieving anything. I will stick with gluten free and low sugar as I still think they don’t do my skin any favours, but I’m not going to punish myself any more with all the other restrictions as they are just unnecessary.
But I’m not going to give up on my mission to get some answers! Now I am currently awaiting results from a food allergy test and a hormone test. I know that there is something wrong and my body is just doing a really good job of hiding it. Let me know if you have any ideas for where my detective work should be focused next 🕵🏻♀️
