Why do I find a rickety old set of stairs running up the side of a building so deeply emotionally satisfying? No idea - but I do. The third pic isn’t stair-related but I also like this stand-alone room just hanging out in the middle of some pretty non-descript office blocks & carparks.

Reminiscing today about our old pal @gorddownieofficial and nostalgic for one of the first times I traveled outside of my town to see @thetragicallyhip play at their own festival w/ @midnightoilband #anotherroadsideattraction over 25 years ago ! It was a festival highlight of my youth and inspired many adventures along the way ... I know #gorddownie and his passion for music and our country will inspire even more ARTists . 🇨🇦 #thehip Hey @thetragicallyhip any chance of a Festival revival ? Love to be a part of that !
So I crossed paths with this dude today while out in LaConner for work. He was making his way towards the post office to drop off a letter. I moved past him quickly because I was in a bit of a hurry. Eventually I figured out who he was. So I turned around and we had a very brief but memorable conversation. It went something like this..
Me: You’re a writer?
Tom Robbins: Yes
Me: I’ve read most of your books
Tom Robbins: (witty and self deprecating) You read that many of my books?
Tom Robbins: I hope you’re not suffering from any brain damage...
I have accepted a challenge from @rustydeadmond to post a photo of a favorite book each day for seven days. Today I challenge @mariamaritian to the same. Oh- and you have to challenge someone else for each of the seven days, too! No explanation, just one photo. Day 2. #anotherroadsideattraction#tomrobbins#lovebooks#readingislife
“There are the three things I like,” Amanda exclaimed upon awakening after her first long trance. “These are: the butterfly, the cactus, and the Infinite Goof.” Later she amended the list to include mushrooms and motorcycles. #anotherroadsideattraction#tomrobbins#cholla
Me: “But that looks like a creek...”
Diandra: “That’s our trail.” Fogging up and drying out after the soggiest of hikes with @sink.ships this morning. We did it, and at balls o’clock no less. I love this woman, not least because she prepared tea for after our hike. The rains have arrived on the coast, my friends—“like a wet rag on a salad,” as Tom Robbins would say—but don’t let that stop you from hitting the trail. .
Remember when I alluded to more detail about an abandoned #manas theme park? What a cliffhanger! 1) Uphill of the park sits a large statue, which I was told represents Sayakbay Karalaev, a great #manaschi , or person who recites the epic poem in a chant. 2-3) Hey, kids, come to the theme park based on an #EpicPoem ! It won’t be creepy or weird. Just look at the decor! 4-5) these paintings face each other. I like the one that features a dragon at the Events Center. 6-7) These are some stairs I saw between #yurtcamp and the Manas park. At the top is a creepy rundown fairground. At the bottom is the road. Stairs do not appear to be handicap accessible, and also seem to be missing the road gap that will send you into the lake. So many missed opportunities here. #kyrgyzstan#issykkul#themepark#silkroadmountainrace#vacationmode#anotherroadsideattraction
