It’s safe to say that Goku is very probably the face of main stream Anime itself these days. 😄 Back in the late nineties, DragonBall Z burst onto North American television which would soon see anime’s popularity see a stratospheric surge! ☝️😙 Sure it wasn’t our first taste of anime here in the west, heck it might not have even been most of your favourite however it was and to this very day still is nothing short of epic! 😎 Not too shabby for a series already nearing a decade old when it was eventually initially dubbed for us all to enjoy way back when ! 😅 ::::.... 📍If you happen to know the names of any of these incredible cosplayers please let me know so I can do them the proper justice of giving them the shoutout they rightfully deserve! 📍☝️😄 #animenorth
Here’s a nice little flashback to Anime North I thought I’d share. 😊 I managed to capture a half decent shot of the always lovely, @kinasaca in her Sailor Moon cosplay this particular year at A.N which admittedly made me envious of the fact I haven’t been able to put together a proper cosplay in quite some time. 😅 One day maybe, I dunno. 🤷♂️ #animenorth
In honour of #wcw here's my tidbit:
This costume took a HELL of a lot of confidence to put on. I'd worn something that bares my midriff before but nothing that accentuates it so much. I'm not in the best shape of my life at all, and to put this on meant I may experience some backlash. Welp I wore it loud and proud. To be Wonder Woman you had to BE strong, BE powerful, and BE confident.
I put it on, strutted my stuff, and got some amazing compliments to boot. I felt good, I felt strong, but I still didn't feel confident.
Yet again and again I kept wearing this costume because of what it meant to me. That I was ready to embody a woman who brought so much strength and confidence to so many women and girls around the world. It wasn't just a cosplay, it was a symbol. I was a symbol. A symbol of confidence, strength, and determination.
Maybe I didn't have it but my willingness to wear this brought that on for someone else? That's what kept me going.
So here's my Wonder Woman cosplay made and worn by me. Shot by the talented @moondust_photos in all her glory.
I'm happy that I got to spend the whole weekend just hanging out with some wholesome and good friends 💞 I hope everyone else had a good weekend and an even better week ahead of them!
